Got to agree with the previous post about Michel.Philly's kicking game was in shambles all season. The injured Mike-Mayer was only 8-17 on the year. They choose to go into their first postseason game in 18 years with a guy who previous to this game had missed his only fg attempt the season before with Miami.Steinfort(whom Mazzetti had replaced),Nick Lowery(a recent cut by the Patriots),or even the retired former Eagle kicker of '77,Horst Muhlman would of been a better choice.Way to go Dick!
Wow, what a choke job by Philly. Adding to that, that Michel guy has got to be one of the most worthless players in NFL history. In 23 NFL games, he averaged a whopping 36.7 yds per punt. LOL!! Vermiel should be hung out to dry not picking up a real kicker. Not including playoffs the guy was 9/13 just on extra points. Most high school kickers could do better than that. Anyway, always loved those Falcon teams especially the 80' squad.
I remember wathcing this game as a kid, I am a cowboys fan and we were waiting to see of the eagles or falcons would come to dallas. This was back in the days when the cowboys would coast into the playoffs and just wait around to see who they would play.
I took a bus 1800 miles from canada to las vegas to bet my last 2k on the falcons +1.5. I knew how bad michel was, missing a fg and pat. and barely making the other pat. I was only worried about the lob into the end zone to carmichial since atl. was blitzing 6 or 7 guys on every play. Its funny the calmest i was in the whole game was when michel lined up for that last 34 yd fg. and that turned out to be his best effort. If only they had got him about 3-5 yards closer he would have made it.
That's hilarious that Ron Jaworski's the QB in this game. I knew he was the QB prior to watching it (I have seen the game already), but now he's a fat, old, goofy pundit. It's crazy to think that I'm watching him in his prime now.
You forget how good these now-goofy talking-heads were back in the day. Well, except Trent Dilfer; he sucked then and sucks now.
@PlacentaPudding you're right my bad it was 14yrs and the dont let equipment managers play quarterback for the entire game at the Super Bowl, he did make a pro bowl. Granted he wasnt great, but you cant suck and have that type of longevity in this league, and the rules were alot different when he was in his prime and starting.
@pointman913 Dilfer won a ring as a back-up in and the Ravens D was amongst the best of all time. Ray Lewis got his ring 1st. Dilfer got his in the mail. After all, the Ravens never re-signed Dilfer and he went to Seattle.
LOL at the fans first storming the field after the missed FG, and then everyone is crowded on the sideline watching the Falcons take the final knee to end the game.
I miss the days when the Falcons wore these uniforms (and the Eagles for that matter) and played outdoors on grass (the way football should be played). Great game - thanks for the post Kassic.

@PlacentaPudding yeah Trent Dilfer really sucked 16yrs in the league and Super Bowl ring how he must have sucked to last that long in the NFL

@pointman913 Trent Dilfer wasn't in the league for 16 years, he never threw for 3k yards in a season, and theequipment managers get SB rings.

Had their regular kicker not been injured, forcing them to use their punter for placekicking duties, Philly would've won this one.

@gootchie agreed but as an Eagle fan myself they should have went out and got a free agent for the playoffs
