this song is so amazing I remember singing away to it and dancing like those girls in the 60's videos of TOTP.....And how true the words to life! you cant get songs like this in cartoons these days serious!!!
Ah memories.... I had this on Beta as a child and just did a google search for "Le vacanze del signor Rossi". I didn't remember the music being this awesome. Man I wish this was available on netflix.
@PoserSkinBones Your're right some cheap dub over. Love this song Feel like time travelling whenever i hear this. Let me get Bruno (his dog) and we're off
At last! I`ve been looking for this for years and every time I ask someone if they remember him, they just look at me like I`m mental...more than usual...
I found it on ebay a couple years ago and busted it out as a suprise for a mushroom trip with my older brother, we tripped balls together, it was awesome, *highly* recommended
Damn I still remember when I first watched we use to live in a ranch far off in the country side. and like I was kid and my dad will plug in the VCR in the T.V and like me and my bro and my sister will watch this.
It's a Bossa Nova, I'd say. Was all the rage in the mid to late 60s, thanks to Jobim and Sergio Mendes. Damn fine theme indeed. Stuck in my mind since I saw it in the 70s.
@dorknight25 I wouldn't say there was any Flamenco in there really, but there is a big dollop of Brazilian bossa nova. The Cuban reference definitely fits too.
@dorknight25 Kind of Cuban/Latin/South American mixed with 60s European pop. Got a great sound, no? Around this time, stuff like Samba and Bossa Nova were big.
@dorknight25 I have tried asking all my muso mates and they haven't been able to tell me what style of music it is. I'm dying to find more in this style.
@cr8xlns I know what you mean! I'm feeling it right now! My childhood and all these great toons. mr rossi, the point, the racoons, green forest. Man...
Aw I remember this cartoon so well from the 80s. What a great message to send to children that all material stuff is totally fleeting and the important things are friendship and sunshine and flowers. It might sound a bit hippy but I'm a parent now and the stuff my kids watch is really shallow and smart-arse compared to the brilliant Signor Rossi.
I used to watch this Back in the 80s . I even made a 4 foot high cardboard replica of Mr Rossi that was exactly like him when i was about 10-11. One of the best old cartoon themes along side Superted,Muppet Babies and Thundercats. Where are thy now.
I adored this movie in my childhood. Cartoons in the 2000's lack the creativity our toons from the old had. I wish you would put Mr. Rossi's vacation on youtube it would be a gift to a deprived generation of art that they may never know. Keep our Love of great animation alive!
I watched this years ago on a video. It's pretty cool!

Mr. Rossi saw a limited release on VHS in the USA back in the 1980s. Those videos are long OOP and not on DVD here. The theme rocked!

Maybe some music experts out there know. :)

@dorknight25 or like the soundtrack to a 50s continental film in which a woman wearing sunglasses and head scarf tears around in a white convertible!
