I call this Elton's one disco song...not a bad thing...everyone did that in this period and I love this song MOST of all....it shows a dancy side to Sir Elton :-)
@debfan74 I didn't even realize it was Elton John who did this song when I've first heard of it, I did like the song but always thought it was done by another artist
i want love i just dont believe you all the stuff you done to me its not love i cant believe the things you call love .this is how you care for someone. your too distant for me.
Written by LeRoy Bell and Casey James. Recorded in '77. Billboard's #36 song of '79. Sir Elton hit #1 AC, #9 pop, #36 soul in the US. How'd he do in the UK? God bless!
Anyone know the reason why The Spinners were never given 'due credit' for this song? I remember CKLW introducing the song as 'Elton John and The Spinners' a few times, but have never heard any explanation why The Spinners were generally ignored by DJs even to this day on Oldie Stations.
@0mike3 Because Elton John is a stingy queen..he recorded that song in Philadelphia and used the philly sound , didnt really want to release the tune, and then took all the credit when it was a hit....
@rayjr62 well see Taupin penned most(actually I believe all except for "Lucy in the sky" which we all know was Lennon's) from 1969's Empty Sky all the way to 1976's overly too depressing for Elton "Blue Moves" And then again from 1983's Too Low For Zero til whenever Elton's last....I lost track of him sometime after 2001-03. I know he still makes lots of appearances though. These were during his philly soul-disco years. But yeah this is one of my faves too!
VERY LIKING THIS A LOT ONLY HEARD IT 2NITE NEVER WOULD OF GUESSED WHO SANG IT XX

Very underrated and underplayed Elton John tune, this was definitely one of his better songs from the post-1975 era

I give him credit for reaching out to the Philly sound, though it might've been largely fueled by a desire to keep up with the times, musically.

Leroy Bell wrote this song. He is the 59 yr. old contestant currently on X-Factor. Such a talented singer, songwriter. I wish him luck.
I love Elton's rendition of this song. As always, Elton is magical.

My favorite Elton John son. . . I know that sounds weird, when you consider everything he has written.
