Wow, this is really poor dog ownership. Why would you shave a dog because of flea problems? Try some advantix, kills basically all the fleas in a few hours. And it's not cute to intentionally make your dog obese.

She looks like my first pom, but my first pom's fur started falling out when his thyroid messed up, He had to take thyroid medication. The vet said if he was human, he would have been dead.

He went missing in 2 days before Christmas Last year. I think my uncle came and got him out of the fence and took him to be laid to rest.

I got a new pom in Jan 2009 from the humane society though.

There are a few things you have to worry about with Pomeranians being overweight. First, they naturally get collapsed tracheas which make them sound like they're almost "snorting" sometimes when breathing as they get older. Extra weight makes it so hard for them to breathe. Last, their bone structure is very fragile, and as a poms gets heavier, they have trouble jumping and their joints can hurt with all that weight on top of them. Our 6 year old has both these problems so we cut her calories :)

It's ugly that your grandma would have such disregard for the health of an animal she is supposed to love. Her dog is going to die early because of that weight. Also, that poor dog shouldn't have required a shave in the first place, since fleas are a very preventable problem. It's as basic as getting shots or going to the vet. Your grandmother should have that dog taken away from her. She doesn't know how to take care of animals. This is neglect.

this is awful and cruelty to animals comes to mind, Put that poor dog on a diet!!! Or it'll get all sorts of health problems! If you had a child that was that fat you would be told to put that on a strict calorie controlled diet so why is this any different.

Not cute at all. Your pom is unhealthy and sick. You mustn't feed your pomeranian more food than is necessary no matter how tempting it is when they look at you with those sweet little eyes and cute smile. Poms are notorious beggars. It should also be mostly dry food as they are prone to dental problems. Congrats on the weight loss though. Good to know he is back to less than 10 lbs again. Best of luck to both Grandma and Pom.

Well it's body is warped with the weight, if you look at how it is sitting at 00:50, it looks more like a corgi( which is supposed to have that body shape)A very cute dog, but needs to lose weight, for the sake of it's knees, and heart.

Over feeding animals should be considered animal abuse. That dog is not comfortable, nor is it cute to put their health at risk.

Just an update ... Sweety is slowly but surely losing weight. Grandma really loves her and has to try really hard to resist feeding her whatever she wants, but she is coming around.
