Great song and radio never killed it. Let's hope Glee doesn't do a cover and expose a new generation to this hidden treasure from early 2000. Oh and 9/11 was an inside job!
thank you for posting, this is the radio version i knew and was looking for, energetic. He's blackness is surprising for most cause the real truth is how many bands do you know with a black lead singer and also in the genre?. i know 3 and are not current bands or this genre.
i love this song it is the best everrrrrrrrrrrrrr........... let god touch us ...........give your heart to him...and say thank you that he takes your sins away for you...........that's why he is my favorite...all the time ....thank you for reading this and god bless you .....
Way back in 2000, my little band opened for these guys in Lafayette, La. on 'the strip'. The show rocked. They rocked. They opened with Wallflower and I thought my ears were going to bleed in the best way possible... but sadly, because they never really took off, Lafayette remained mostly untouched. Waymon is incredibly talented, and the rest of the band followed suit. Sorry world, Splender never got to explode on to the music scene. I can't explain it. Maybe God can...
First heard this song on Dawson's Creek. I ordered the soundtrack just for the song. I don't know that I have ever heard it on the radio and I havent heard the other version. Where would I hear that at?
@puertoricanmama92 The lead singer is a very cool laid back dude and a great guy all around. I know him personally, and he's as nice as a person as he is talented. He's doing movie production and other things like it since Splender broke up, but I think that you'll be seeing him and more things with new music and movies in the near future. :-)
WAYMON!!!! Where are you? Dave and I would love to get together...if you see this, get in touch! dave kopp...rememmber us? Sunday River? you guys were in hidden persuders back in that day!!
Crazy how the bassist and guitarist are playing again in the band edisun! Their hit single Medicate is badass. So good to have them back in the scene!
@buttlord123 No kidding. I remember going on a road trip, laying in the back seat of the car and this song came on. I felt like it was playing for me because of the difficult time I was going through, Back then I was 17...now I'm almost 29. I am so glad I found this.
@rockerswift same here. was singing in the shower and the chorus just came out of nowhere. haven't heard the song since it used to be played on the radio with any sort of frequency.
Come on people....that's not Wayne Brady on vocals...it's Antoine Dodson.
Anyway, this song is a masterpiece; strong melody and beautiful chord progression, and different from their 1999 version because the production is a lot more elaborate, not to mention that it has a "live" sound.
Holy crap, I just happened upon this. This takes me back a decade. I used to dig this tune. It takes me back to my sophomore year of college, and it makes me think about that great times I had with a girl I was dating. :)
This version is a re-recording; it was featured in an episode of Dawson's Creek (and on one of the show's compilation soundtracks). Far as I can tell, the two versions very only slightly in terms of vocals and instrumentation, but this one has far better mastering than the album version, giving the song much greater depth. Frankly, I prefer this version. ^.^
@raiders2000 i think it portrays that the big man up there is watching... always... so if you get shit for anything.... He was looking and He might have the explanation
Saw these guys with Pound in Pensacola and had a few drinks with 'em too! ALL of them were very cool and nice to chat with and they singed are tickets as well!
I thought this song was about getting treated different because of your race. "i believe i'm the same I get carried away" BTW he has an amazing voice. His name is Waymon Boone!!!
@phelly2 Agreed....I'm compiling a list of my favs from the 80s/90s, and both decades have easily exceeded 200 songs....the last decade has done well to see 50 - 100 hits.
