Definitely echoes of 'Inglorious Basterds'.

The ending is a little roller coaster -satisfying but unsettling all the same, especially considering that the movie was made so close to WW2.

Interesting ref to Dachau as nothing but a base -obviously filmed pre-Holocaust awareness.
