@Blavat666 The FACT that he is so SUCCESSFUL is what MAKES it so bloody BRILLIANT, That was the whole POINT of his art, and he LOVED it. ANDY was the FATHER of pop art, a STYLE that i think produces much more relevance to todays world. Andy brought art into a new AGE that had never really been EXPLORED.
Oh you high school kids and your immature sense of humor. When you are intellectually beaten you resort to childish "mama" jokes. Congrats though on the use of a large word like "Horrendous" it really speaks to the state of secondary education today.
FYI, i graduated high school years ago but if you insist on an intelligent response i'll say this. dali-melted clocks, divinci-mona lisa, michaelangelo-sistine chapel, rembrandt-the night watch, gaudi-sagrada familia, warhol-campbell's soup. do i really need to go on or do you get what im trying to say? one of these guys isnt an artist he's just someone that got lucky when in an age where people didnt know what GOOD art was.
Hmmm, this is interesting. I find it funny that you use Dali as an example of a great artist considering Dali frequented Warhol's studio. In Fact if you had ever seen his later works you would know that he was heavily influenced by Pop Art in his later years. Pop art... a movement who's evolution rests pretty solidly on Warhol's shoulders. Great Artists inspire other Artists, and that is what Warhol did, so before you spew your crap, look at Hallucinogenic Toreador by Dali and eat your words!
movement? movements aren't a hard thing to do, hell i had a movement this afternoon its floating in my toilet bowl if you want to see it. look poeple get inspiration from just about anything, but the bottom line is that said artist had real talent and andy didnt, his crap appealed to trendy talentless lame asses so-called "eccentrics", but i appriciate you bringing that to my attention.
Hi. Where can I read about what great he did? With rating.
A'm not an American so I can't find any brilliant in campbell's soup. It's just a label, to my mind. And i'm also interested in what he was right? "Andy Warhol Was Right" What does it mean?
Nice ad hominem (2x). Well then, mister smart ass; why is andy warhol godlike, thus indisputablly great? Great work spewin' an appeal to authority meme.
Andy warhol was, and always will be, a hype.
Duchamp did it better, if it's about breaking the high art world. Georg Hirth did it better in printmaking. Dali was an intellectual jester, whose ways couldn't be found.
So; why is warhol an unquestionable genius? hipsterkid
i wasn't talking to you...No need to start shit when you weren't involved in the first place. I respect your opinion but choose most decidely to ignore it on the basis that it bores me to tears to constantly defend a man who single-handedly owned art in the later half of the century.
You know your emotional defense actually raises more questions than answers? The higher you raise him, the more i'd like to know.
Since you're probably attending artschool, thus art history, enlighten me. I guess you're just uncritical. Why is reproducing the mass media, with all the irony in close regard, such a great feat? Otherwise the guy who argued with you has gotten thumbsdown for no reason.
I hate my generation sometimes. You're the reason.
I like all forms of modern art. I am not that picky, there is some stuff that is quite bluntly crap and I am not saying there isn't uninspired art out there. But Warhol was the first to take Pop Art out into the world. He and Liechtenstein both pushed the movement into the public consciousness. It was a movement never seen before and it still exists today. He is important because he helped start a movement that thousands of artists create under today. How does that not make him worth admiration?
You understand his work entirely then. Its that which I like about him. He accessible yet detached. As well as flat and superficial. Thank YOU!, you get it!
He liked people, he liked company, but, interestingly, he did not feel responsible for those around him, or he did not want to take responsibility for them, that`s why many considered him cold, inhuman, no good.
he took responsiblity for his "friends". He paid the food of the people in his factory and gave them a home. But your right he produced another andy for the society that one was inhuman and cold but he had another private side.
He was talented and not agressive, which means that he belonged to the kind of people who are easy target to be killed. He felt that danger and restrained himself, but it was not enough.
Dear Mr. iambinners, I really liked how you did this film production, let me know if you could put together some of my stuff together with your great skills. nicest regards, Jon
Very nice tribute to dear Andy (and yes, do check out "Factory Girl", even though they try to blame everything on Andy as usual, Guy Pearce and Sienna Miller are fantastic!). However, according to Victor Bockris' book "Life and Death of Andy Warhol", Andy did not care for Bowie's song about him, right again.
I don't think that is an appropriate movie since most of the people that see it and don't know much about him end up thinking he is a dick or something. I know there is his autobiographical movies that are far more fascinating than a hollywood block buster.

as said many times before, Warhol turned the factory line into a punch line; he turned the mirror on America. Pop art is America.
