  • i used to love this intro and watched it over and over again .... only sega cd fans know this feeling , i know the video looks like crap but i love it ; )

  • When I'm 90 years old and on my death bed, my dying words will be me yelling MORTAL KOMBAT!

  • Ah, the 90s.

  • This looks more like a Commercial then a Game Opening

  • @RgMount85 A lot of it is ripped from the famous commercial for the home release of the game. Ah, Mortal Monday, one of the original camp-out-for-the-midnight-release games.

  • this makes me wanna go outside and just shout "Mortal Kombat!!!!!"

  • I love that they used clips from the SNES port in this video.

  • what is this song called? I thinks its better than the Mortal Kombat theme

  • @tonyAJ420 Hypnotic House

  • my first system was a sega and it was generation after generation of game consoles after that

  • @RetroShinigami lol, In some ways yes b/c my 1st system was an atari 2600 & yours might have been a ps2 or x-box but the early/mid 90's were interesting b/c every year multiple new systems were being released & while most sucked like the atari jaguar, phillips cd-i , nintendo virtual boy, sega cd, & 3do it was still fun to play them all & try them out. Now it's the big 3 systems & thats pretty much it, however those 3 are all great & have endless potential.

  • @JoeCool031619 3DO had a lot of potential, but the price killed it.

  • @thatguyontheright1 Yeah wasn't it like $700 when it first came out? I can't imagine paying even $300 for it let alone $700. I got mine from a kid in my class who wanted a gameboy so I traded mine & about 7 games for his 3do w/ 4 games including road rash, which was awesome....Ahh, Memories...

  • @JoeCool031619 Yea, I never had a 3DO, I wanted one, I still want one, just gotta scrounge up cash to get it.

  • @thatguyontheright1 Keep an eye on ebay. Once in a while you can find a great deal on a 3do. Road rash & return fire were my fav. 3do games

  • @JoeCool031619 I know, when I get my taxes back.

  • This was the type of live action video that forced me to buy a sega cd & a 3DO back in the day. Yes it was gimmicky but to go from an nes & genesis to live action video games was pretty cool back then. Despite the fact that 99% of them sucked...

  • The intro is nothing more than taking one of the game's commercials and making it into a lazy attempt at a game intro.

  • "Excellent!"

    "Test your Might!"

    "Fight!"

    "MORTAL KOMBAT!!"

  • Probably said already but damn if it's not hilarious that they used the SNES footage in this intro. That being said, I had the SNES version and while it was beautifully ported, the unsteady gameplay and lack of blood made it fail. The Genesis version of the 'Select Screen' track was epic, also.

  • @recordedfrommyphone To think that they used to do entire games with nothing but FMV on the Sega CD. The video quality on computers wasn't much better at the time.

  • i remenber that sega cd used a kind of cinema display in many games

  • I found it funny that they show the SNES version in the intro of the SEGA CD Version. My personnal thought of the CD version: It is a mix of the PC-CD version of MK and the genesis one. The game is still good, but i have to admit that the Sega CD graphic are less good than the SNES one. But the sega CD version has a unique feel that I like alot (like MK2 Saturn)

  • @SuperDave341 Unlike the SNES version, you don't have the suck factor of no blood.

  • The snes had the graphics and sound, but lousy ass gameplay and no blood. I wouldn't brag about the snes version of 1.

  • @Chumpster1981 I would of the 2nd one though xD

  • that was epic.

  • mortal kombat 1-just sucks-it soo numb and no drive it all, in my opinion suck then, sucks now it just legend it all

  • crummy port overall, considering this came out much later than the Genny/snes releases.

To the guy saying the graphics are arcade perfect...Thier not even close to the arcade. The CD release is basically the Genesis game, with a few more frames of animation added on, and some of the arcade backdrops added back in [blood in the pit, subzeroes fatality has the head facing the right way now etc].

For a CD game and long wait it sucked though. very quick port, and the SNES release looked 10x better

  • An intro??? Really, this is like a damn commercial!!

  • Is the SEGA CD VERSION intro!!

  • this intro shows gameplay from the snes version

  • So long intro man :D i WANT PLAY RIGHT NOW :D

  • it would suck if you were one of those people running for mk and then forget your wallet!

  • d'oh!!

  • on the back cover of this sega cd version, it said that this was the Mortal Kombat music video

  • so that's where that movie song came from

  • Mortal Kombat did not have a movie theme song. The song was released in 1993 when it was in the home systems

  • The Sega CD version was a perfect Arcade Emulation.

It was superior to Snes and Genesis versions of the game.

It was the exact same thing as the game in the arcade cabinets. It was the big draw of this version when it came out. Arcade Perfect, and it was advertised as such.

  • carrot: Too me, it looks almost exactly the same as the Genesis version. That is, they are grainy. Except for the correct fighting stance of Sub-Zero. This video doesn't even show the Sega CD version. That is the Super Nes version. Of course, the sound is like the arcade. The worst part of Mortal Kombat CD? THE LOADING!

  • I'm guessing Midway used the censored version in promotional materials for legal reasons.

The actual disk had the same program that was in the Arcade cabinet on it. The only real difference was as you said, the abhorrent loading screens.

MK was pretty grainy to begin with. Nostalga goggles often negate the effect in memory.

You're right though, the footage shown isn't from the game you got on the disk. Probably so it could be used as promotional material on television without any whining.

  • I have this game on Genesis, Sega CD, and PS2 (MK Deception bonus disc).

Sega CD version looks nothing like the PS2 version (which is the arcade rom running on an emulator). It looks exactly like the Genesis version. Everything is grainy and lacks color.

  • yup, I noticed that too! O_O

omg, they used the SNES graphics for the video, instead of making a version which presented the Sega CD ones!

bottom line is... MK CD is NOT arcade perfect!!!

  • things that are important to me is the music and the sound effects ( if they dont scream its not as good)

  • lol Shang Tsung has a rave party, before he dies

  • I like how the intro footage is from the SNES version.

  • it's like they're admitting they suck

  • Used to have a sega cd. Good times! :)

  • Very funny because seems that acclaim/probe inserter images of SNES version on Sega CD introduction.

In game is same shit as Genesis, but better sond (and long loadings), I was pissed on my chikdhood because of SNES supperiority, but at least we had the blood (but on MK2 SNES ruled).

  • same shit?? not at all. It prove you never played that version. The graphic may be identical to the genesis version but the gameplay changed and the music really make this version very special. It play more like a fast version of the SNES version

  • Best version of this game IMO.

I used to be obsessed with Mortal Kombat and bought every version there was to compare, lol.

  • You can revive this obession if you check on of my video called (MK1 all version compilation)

  • it kick ass
