dragonball ran from 1984, and is still popular, so naruto running from 1997 is nothing really. Anime seems to run longer than other cartoon shows, maybe because they are better.

i have to say for me naruto has actually gotten better. The shippuden episodes right now are really awesome i love how all sorts of main characters are dying it adds to the realism.
