Media is dead. Both sides are a disgrace. Foxnews pretends to be this "conservative" mecca but in reality the same network shows cultural rot like the Family Guy and pretends that they are not liberal. That does not mean the other shit is any better. Dan Rather illustrated an every day occurance on the Left. MSNBC is a joke, they are so liberal that they make Al Jazeera look fair and balanced. But if you call either side out they merely say "Wull we aint as bad the other guys."
How can the media be liberal bias when all networks helped us start a WAR with Iraq?(who had NOTHING to do with 9/11)Speaking of media, does this include talk radio? In my city we have about 18 minutes of nightly network news. We have FOX (right) & MSNBC (left) BUT we have 9 hours daily (45/week) of Glenn Beck/Limbaugh/Lou Dobbs talking & praising Bush,Cheney & now Perry. Please explain how any of this is liberal biased? Seems pretty unfair/unbalanced to me. All of our media sucks in my opinion
I think Breitbart, Cupp, Coulter are hacks put up and funded by rightwing think tanks ....She is not an atheist, and if she was, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN an ATHEIST take a hard right stance on LIBERALS for attacking CHRISTIANITY? COME ON
The only thing worthwhile about SE Cupp is when she plops her legs on top of the desk on Fox News. She looks great, but I imagine if she had Newt Gingrich's looks, even Fox News wouldn't give her the time of day.
you can take the overwhelming coverage of the tea party rallys as a conservative bias!? is cenk smoking crack rocks? OR you consider the context of the coverage into consideration and the way the people were labeled as religious zealots and nutjobs as a liberal bias. since when is mere coverage the only indication of bias and not the content? also, very convenient/ irresponsible/scummy place to end the segment. new low for "journalism"
I don't think she is really an atheist. I am an atheist and we get attacked by Christians all the time! Why would ANY atheist want to fight FOR Christianity?
@christo930 and why is she just defending christianity and not every religion? possibly because she wants to defend the most helpless victims. rich, white christians!
@UberTankred It's funny, because her views are no different then Christian conservatives and she claims she aspires to be able to believe in god one day. Bullshit! She knows who her audience is and doesn't want to alienate them, or just says she's an atheist conservative for attention. There are very few "conservative" atheists because in America, "conservative" means Christian right.
It's amazing how myopic some of you commenters are. You easily find all the flaws in your opponents but somehow the same flaws in yourself eludes you.
Trying to explain liberal media bias to a LIBERAL is like trying to explain what the color red looks like to someone who was born blind.
In all of their self aspousing "open mindedness", they remain the most closed minded group of people I've ever seen, so even if a NYT editor were to walk in ans say "Yes we have a bias, and we intentionally run a negative spin on stories of faith", he'd still never believe it. He'd deflect by saying that person had been bought off by the Koch bros or something
@EchoMike03 You are just another barely literate dittohead spouting the same old worn out trash. People like you listen to nothing but totally biased as well as very inaccurate and dishonest right wing rubbish all day then you whine about media bias. Irony is lost on the simple minded I guess.
@EchoMike03 More like they run stories about right wing assholes who advance their political agendas while they hide behind some fundamentalist religious crap. The most narrow minded dishonest people today are theocons and their phony cheerleaders like Cupps. Check yourself dude, cause you are completely full of sheet.
What you call pro religious really is some right winger advancing his political agenda while hiding behind religion. Sorry but the most close minded, as well as willfully stupid & ignorant people are the theocons. You are like some little bitch, you want to use religion to attack & promote but when that blows back in your face, you want to cry about media bias & anti-religious bigotry. Most of the time the "media bias" whine is a convenient way to deny the truth when it is working against you.
I am overwhelmed buy your thoughful and insightful analysis of the situation.
I felt like the words "stupid","bitch", and most imporatnly "assholes" both solidified, and clarified your point exquisitely, as well as adding an element of maturity and, dare I say SCHOLARLY foresight, you really don't see much of lately.
@EchoMike03 Well compared to your worn out, totally bs media bias whine, it was. Save your whines for the rest of the babies in denial who cry "media bias" when the facts & news are not to their liking. There is nothing scholarly, intelligent or even relevant to yet another rwer crying about media bias (which really means it isn't biased the way they like it) Basically you must agree with me since you haven't rebutted any of my points, just whined about words that didn't meet your approval
@EchoMike03 I am laboring under a wrong assumption that you understood that right wingers at FOX & talk radio deliberately & dishonestly provoke their paranoid theocon fans with patently false accusations of media bias, Ironically, most of them aren't even Xtian. For example, I heard that bitch Tammy Bruce lie & accuse the "media" of attacking Xmas because they dubbed a mass murderer who wore a Santa suit the "Santa Killer". When you work for FOX, lying about the War on Xmas is de riguer.
Isn't it interesting that she assumes anyone who supports equal rights for gays must be an atheist? She apparently thinks all Christians hold only socially conservative values and beliefs.
@DawnOfTheDead991 Yes. I understand she is playing to her target audience. But her comment is still ignorant. I just can't stand people who believe that only Christians or Americans (or whatever other label for people) who act, think, or look like just like them are 'real' Christians or 'real' Americans. Also, these type of right-wingers assume that their brand of conservatism is 'real' conservatism despite most conservatives being moderates. These rightwing Xtians are a minority.
Many people forget that in the US it has often been Christians fighting for civil rights and equality. The US constitution authorized slavery & the treating of women as second class citizens. Both were defended using Biblical arguments. Yet, it was Christians who also challenged both.
@MarmaladeINFP i agree, Christians have done lots of decent things, but not the ones the GOP has been using & duping for the last 20 odd years. As far as slavery goes, there were Xtians, like Southern Baptists, who were totally okay with slavery and Jim Crow, versus Christian abolitionists & civil rights types. After all there are 200 million+ Xtians & 100s of sects, so there is great variety of them. Cupps is just pandering to GOP fundies & evangelicals who watch FOX with her lame ass book
@MarmaladeINFP Also, almost all Xtian sects, as well as most other non Christians ones, were against the War in Iraq, with the notable exception of the US theocons and evangelicals, who were as pro-war and pro-Bush as they come.
@DawnOfTheDead991 The reason it's easy to think all Christians are theocons & evangelicals is because the mainstream media is obsessed with them. I suppose there is a good reason for this considering these fundies have an agenda they are always trying to force onto society. Liberal & moderate Christians simply practice their religion in private & don't tend to evangelize or politicize. The fundies see the media constantly reporting about fundies & so assume all 'real' Christians are fundies.
If she was really an atheist, she wouldn't care if Christianity was "under attack," since atheists think religion doesn't make any sense to begin with.
@RomeoCo Well it could be that Christians are attacked in the media, but her whole attitude is what makes me doubt that she's an atheist. She's said things like she aspires to have faith and that she admires Bush for making his decisions based on the god-voice in his head. She's also talked about people "elevating" atheism to the level of Christianity. It's all very suspicious.
Bill Maher reduced her to a stuttering fool when she was on his show claiming to be an atheist. She is obviously a neo-con evangelical who thinks she will get more attention by claiming to be an atheist while defending christians. Maher PROVED the mainstream media's obsession with Christianity. Even so called liberal TV show hosts brag on their religious faith all the time (Ed Shultz, Chris Matthews). The most famously vocal liberal out there Michael Moore is a devout Catholic.
as a left-wing christian Canadian, I'd say this woman takes the cake in polar opposites. never heard of an atheist that wants to stand up for christians and mormons. We're the loud ones, we don't need defended. And if we did, well... we wouldn't be religious.
It's funny how the only conservative media channel destroys EVERY other liberal channel every week, month, and year. Oreilly wipes his ass with this no name muslim looking anchor. Oreilly dont even know this fat asses name LOL!
Who cares if she is an atheist. Who cares if she is a Muslim, Jew or Roman Catholic. The more you profile her on your program the more her name gets out there and the more that happens the more dollar bills she gets. Fuck her.
@ReadmanJ Who are you to deny SE Cupp? She exists! In my mind, she exists! SHE'S REAL! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? IT IS REAL! IT'S REAAAL!!! Oh, god... (collapses)
Archbishop Charles Chaput -- "We make a very serious mistake if we rely on media like the New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, or MSNBC for reliable news about religion. These news media simply don’t provide trustworthy information about religious faith — and sometimes they can’t provide it, either because of limited resources or because of their own editorial prejudices.”
If you can't believe these sources about religion, then doesn't that color everything they publish?
Read Chris Hedges' book 'American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America' (Free Press 2006).
"With a[n American] fascist [unlike a German or Italian fascist], the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power. His method is to poison the channels of public information. " ~ Henry Wallace
If S.E Cupp actually stay through the whole interview instead of hanging up because obviously i'm not being listened too, i might have given her respect but it's seems quite immature, the liberal host is not listening so i spit the dummy and hang up, bad move if you ask me.
Ok I offically challenge S.E. Cupp to prove she is an Atheist by have her reject the holy spirit on youtube the way Hitchens did. Rejecting the holy spirit is the unforgivable sin that the rational response squad came up with. Only an atheist would do this. Put up or shut up Cupp!
Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but here it is: SE Culp went to theology school, and somehow her life changed...in a non-Christian way. If she's elaborated on what this change was, or what triggered it, I haven't read it. However, she realized she spent a lot of money on a degree she wasn't going to use. So, she looked around her, and noticed that many journalists and so-called evangelicals rallying, and drawing a lot of attention (and subsequently income).
to herself by rallying anger at the a so-called liberal media. She took pages from Ann Coulter, by dressing in a provocative manner, writing and speaking in rant, and by tying together irrelevant issues. Like for most journalists, the truth isn't important, it's having an opinion, and sharing it in a confrontational manner. Thus far for Culp, it has worked quite well.
Typical condescending arrogant ObaMaoists demean Americans who have completely rejected both the (1) Marxist Messiah and (2) his expansive, free-spending, intrusive Big Government policies, while continuing to derisively sneer, “The sheep people do not understand what’s best for them!”
...let's get something straight, these protests against encroaching government started when Bush was in office, in fact some of the first Tea Party re-enactments where put on by Code Pink protesters. We are all smelling what's been brewing in DC for quite some time. Come together people, bring the power back to the states and back to the people.
To bad it is true. The Tea Party started in February 2009 and had some of it's biggest rallies at the beginning of that year and there was no to little coverage even from Faux News. One side jumped on the bandwagon shortly thereafter and the other side continued to ignore them until they couldn't any longer. And....
@timbosforporn Because they all had attention deficit disorder. How else to see post after post questioning Cupp's athiest cred when the topic was about liberal media bias. What does her percieved lack of faith in a higher being have to do with the N.Y Times giving CodePink a discount of a full page ad to libelously attack Gen Petraeus?
It's so much easier to get off topic and attack the messenger than to defend the substance of the criticism.
This broad doesn't known her ass from her elbow. Shes whining about the liberal attack on a religion she doesn't believe in, shes an athiest for christ sake!
When I read most of the comments on this page I can understand why the Left in the U.S. and their Islamist supporters are in such trouble.
S.E. Cupp, aside from being an intelligent, articulate and very beautiful woman, is a woman of ideas and decency, not to mention, polite. The chauvinist moron who interviewed her however had no sense on how to conduct an interview and was crass enough to laugh at her when she attempted to answer his question. What an amateur this guy is.
On top of being a liar she is also a hypocrite!!!! She claims to have a ballet dancer, and danced for the Washington Ballet and the Boston Ballet. If she was getting paid then it was with out taxes. If you google both of those comp. you will see that they receive federal dollars to run. Boston ballet gets NEA cash. One thing all Conservatives hate. I am in doubt on how conservative she is.
Sometimes I wonder if half of these right-wing women (Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram, and S. E. Cupp) would even have careers if they didn't look "pretty," because from what I've seen, none of them really have anything of substance to say at all.
Why would you say she isn't a Atheist? Have you seen her at your church to prove otherwise?
I know this is going to be such a shocker but you can be a Neocon and not believe in God. A lot of Neocons are Atheists, that's why they believe in pre-emptive illegal wars that are not declared when almost all Neocons never served in the military and were draft dodgers.
There's a vast liberal media attack taking place on Christians and one of the best examples of this she can give is that the movie "The Compass" received some better reviews than "The Chronicles of Narnia"?
The only way this proves anything is if you begin as a Christian with a paranoid outlook (everything is an us versus them battle). Unless something is 100% supportive of their cause, rightwing Christians see it as an attack. So define your terms.
If she's an atheist I am a wookie having afternoon tea with darth vader as I type this. To fully understand watch the interview between Bill Maher and Cupp, not that it isn't obvious enough with everything else out there. The Maher interview tho showcases what it looks like when a real atheist meets a poser.
Conservative Christians are underhanded enough to pose as atheists in order to praise religion and in effect sabotage secularism. This appears to be what S.E. Cupp has done. I smell a rat; and, this woman reeks of the type of conduct coming from the people that relabeled creationism as intelligent design in order to sneak religion into science textbooks.
At the risk of sounding sexist. S.E. Cupp, Sarah Palin and all the other attractive females with no brains that Fox News fronts to sell their ideology reminds me alot of every other marketing scheme such as alchohol, tobacco, nutritional supplements...
S.E. you're no Vanna White, you're not gonna age like wine, you should think towards the future. What are you gonna do when your looks go away?
Liberals such typical tactics, America is waking up to your immoral antics. Beware of the Tea Party and 9/12 Project your vastly out skilled and out numbered. Come back to the light its warm with common sense and patriotism. (Independent Conservative)
"Oh well lot of ways. " Then cites a false statistic. duh blah like blah you know lie fart lie duh... She can barely speak English. You know I remember that stupid tea party/faux news rally in Washington. It only drew a few thousand fools (who were bussed in) but the press covered it like it was the Cuban missile crisis or something. The next day a much much larger group of gays gathered in the same mall and not a single word on CNN or as far as I know on any other station. What a liar.
Ohhhh, you mean the Feb 15, 2003 Peace March that actually did have TENS of millions of people come out on one day & received virtually no main stream press except to disparage the confirmed numbers?
I'd compare her to Alan Keyes except that he actually is black. Know what she is, she's a "I couldn't care less about religion" conservative who sees an opportunity. Being easy on the eyes helps. She will go far.
I'd compare her to Alan Keyes except that he actually is black. Know what she is, she's a "I couldn't care less about religion" conservative who sees an opportunity. Being easy on the eyes helps. She will go far.
Is there anyone who seriously believes she's an atheist? She's a neocon fundamentalist christian who claims she's an atheist because Fox News needs an atheist uncle tom and SE Cupp is incapable of experiencing shame.
@DeimosSaturn I think she's there to deceive the fundy-flock from finding out what slaves they've become; The fundy's talking straw atheist. She'll say something scientific sounding, like a palinistic-bushism with a little late 19th centurist jargon (enough to make her seem like she is not one of their own), and with mistakes obvious enough that a couch-potato fundie can target her instead of their own faults. After this comes full-on lockdown of the Christian Right by their own policy leaders.
@dalmatian847 Alright, even if we went by your desperate insinuation (that every person who watched this video also read my comment and all of them either thumbed up or thumbed down my comment), then that means I'm still winning, because more people thumbed up me than thumbed down me. Now, we both understand that probably no one has thumbed down my comment, except maybe you, but the fact that 46 thumbed up me shows that AT LEAST 46 people agree with my point. Which makes your initial insult
transparently ineffectual, impotent, and infantile. You COULD have either countered my point with a point of your own, but you instead opted to simply insult me, and end up just insulting yourself. So that's a double fail.
@DeimosSaturn You must lead a lonely exisitence don't you? This isn't a popularity contest. You make an absurd statement and I felt compelled to comment. You have 46 other morons or 46,000 other morons giving you a thumbs is irrelevant to the fact that your comment was stupid.
She has claimed she's an athiest and wrote books on the subject. Seeing religion (or ack of) is a personal choice, what is your evidence to the contrary? It's like people doubting Obama's faith. WTF do you care?
@dalmatian847 WTF do you care if I have a functioning brain? So far, 47 people found my comment to be poignant enough to merit a thumbs up. And there's even a couple comments that backed me up as well. So really, your intellectual equivalent of "i'm rubber and you're glue" comment 'is there anyone...who seriously believe you have a functioning brain' is very evidently empty, except you seem to be the only one who can't see your own failure to insult someone or have a relevant argument.
Coctopus has done a video on SE Cupp and pointed out her philosophical contradictions/inconsistencies. It seems your basic problem in life is seeing the obvious because it's quite obvious that SE Cupp is clearly lying when she describes herself as an atheist. It's clear she's trying to pull in the non-religious demographic to Fox News because they are desperate to appear "fair and balanced" (she is often on various shows on fox news). Isn't it an amazing coincidence that she's also a 10?
It's so utterly obvious that she's an "atheist" uncle Tom trying to make neoconservative attitudes appear hip and cool to the non-religious, even though any free thinker with a modicum of skepticism can see right through their shenanigans. You are thoroughly beaten. Just admit it. Be a man. You got pwned. You tried to mess with the best and got your asshole cored out with sharpened ice cream scoop. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
@DeimosSaturn Here's the deal stupid, and why you are not worth my time debating. The topic of thiis video was Cupp's assertion of liberal media bias. Yet all I see from the likes of you and the 47 other idiots in your fanclub is questioning her athiesm. WTF does that have to do with media bias?
You sound so incredibly stupid with each additional post .
So tell me, what does Cupp's faith have to do with the media admitting they were in the bag for Obama? SEE the JourNoList scandal.
@DeimosSaturn I don't care if you have a funtioning brain. In fact the evidence is in you do not. One more time for the intellectually challenged individual you have demonstated to be. She claims she's an athiest. Your evidence to the contrary is what again?
It's that same brand of stupidity as those who claim Obama is a closet Muslim. He claims he is not. The proof he is what?
When you post something in a public forum that's patently absurd, expect a rebuttal. 47 idiots notwithstanding.
@dalmatian847 The evidence, for a SECOND TIME are her contradictions, as illustrated in Coctopus's video about SE Cupp, regarding her philosophical views on the subject of god, belief, etc.
Now, if I did not have a functioning brain, "in fact", I wouldn't be typing this message. But what you really mean to say is I'm "stupid", but according to who's standard? Yours. In other words: A stupid person's standards.
@dalmatian847 "She claims she's an athiest. Your evidence to the contrary is what again?" These are YOUR WORDS. I type a reply answering you, and then you type as a reply "The topic was about her claims of liberal media bias. You have proven this assertion false HOW EXACTLY?"
Text book Shifting The Goal Post/Memory Hole.
Almost every atheist agrees with me that SE Cupp is a phony regarding her philosophical views. So what else is she being dishonest about?
@DeimosSaturn Textbook projection(look that up). So as an athiest, you are not allowed to voice an opinion on bias against any particular faith? How's is that again?
Now using your criteria, I can say every Chriatian I know doesn't beleive Obama is a Christian, (although he claims to be). Obama has a 100% record of support for abortion rights, euthanasia, and gay marriage. Three things firmly against the Christian faith.
Yet we should take Obama's word for it, but not S.E Cupp's.
@dalmatian847 There are many christians who support women's right to choose, euthanasia, and gay marriage. Although to me it seems internally inconsistent, they can do some hand waving and make it make sense to them. This is different from a person claiming to not believe in god but be open to the possibility only to turn around and say that she wouldn't want an atheist to be president because she thinks a theist is accountable to someone who she says doesn't exist! The phoniness is self evident
@DeimosSaturn I guess I missed that part in the 1st Amendment that bans athiests from commenting on organized religion.
By comparison Cenk was born a Muslim, but now claims he's an agnostic. Yet comments in support of the Ground Zero Mosque, Muslim profiling, and support of Palestinians against Isreal.
I suppose he shouldn't be allowed to comment on that using your odd criteria.
@dalmatian847 Again, there are muslims who do not support the "ground zero mosque", who understand muslim profiling, and support Israel. The same way there are atheists and moderate liberals who are against the Zionist agenda, support the "ground zero mosque" (i''m an atheist and I have no issue with the Muslim enrichment center in the financial district), and I don't fully support muslim profiling. None of that is antithetical to not believing in a god. You are comparing apples and oranges.
@DeimosSaturn Actually that's my point. You can comment or criticize something or choose to support views not held by your faith or community and still be a member of that faith or community(i.e athiests) WTF are you to decide who is and who's not an athiest. If that's what she beleives, and faith or lack of is a personal chioice(like abortion) who are you to make that judgement?
Now again, what relevance is that to this particular topic A book on media bias against Christianity?
@DeimosSaturn What you are attempting to do is isolate her as a hypocrite who professes to be athiest but defends Chriatianity from unfair media attacks. Therefore you attack her credibility to comment on this topic.
Rather than debate the issue at hand. Does the liberal media have a bias against Christians?
I'd say look up Alinsky's Rules for radicals but I'm guessing it's already on your bedside fully dog-eared and annotated with liner notes.
@dalmatian847 again, the compromise of a person's moral leanings based on their religion is very different from a basic logical inconsistency in SE Cupp preferring a theist president over an atheist president because "he's accountable to someone who isn't really there and she doesn't believe in and that an atheist president would think 98% of the country was crazy" -her words.
I am not a liberal, dumb dumb.
And her FAKE ATHEISM has a lot to do with her claims of a liberal bias.
@DeimosSaturn Where in this video clip does she comment on preferring a thiest president over an athiest president What quote are you alluding to. She makes no such reference to it in this video.. Even were it the case, how does that suddenly make less than an athiest? I'm Catholic but I'd prefer someone other than a Catholic being POTUS.. I base this on the fact that Protestants are in the majority and the suspicion of the only Catholic , JFK to Roman influence would hamper the POTUS.
@SuCKeRPunCH187 Thank you for not answering the question. As this thread is referring to this video, the question still stands. Where in this video clip does she comment on preferring a thiest president over an athiest president?
That was about as well said as it anyone could have said it!
Not to mention she's an ELITIST... went to Ivy League Cornell... got her masters degree from NYU. Was a ballerina princess and probably never worked a real day of labor in her life.
@stone34 this term "elitist" is a bit of a non sequitur. It's a GOOD THING to get a master's degree from a big universtiy and to go to an Ivy League school. Her problem is that she's a sociopath who is capable of lying without remorse or guilt. She might even be a pathological liar. Just because someone has never "worked a real day of labor" in their lives, doesn't necessarily mean they are oblivious. She simply doesn't care.
@DeimosSaturn- I should've clarified what I meant by elitist. This is the new buzz word by the Tea Party. Oh look at President Obama & advisors. They went to Harvard / Ivy League schools. Oh they are out of TOUCH ELITISTS.
I agree 1000% it's a joke that these people say this. America is all about you study hard, work hard & success can happen. So when people study hard, excel & get into the very BEST schools suddenly this is a bad thing.
It's just because most of the Tea Party can't get into good schools so they attack it.
As for SE, I think it's great she went to such good schools. She obviously worked hard and did well and got into to them. But I just think it's ridiculous for her to take DEMS to task and call Dems Elitists etc... when she lived a privleged life as a ballerina and Ivy League school girl.
And being an Athiest defending Christian Right. I mean if SE really believes so strongly in defending religious Freedom she should defend the Ground Zero Mosque and the Muslims rights under the Constitution to build it there.
Now that would really be defending the constitution.
@DeimosSaturn I was thinking the same, she is a disgrace to REAL atheists! The day a real atheist believes this bitch, and openly admits it, I'll vote for Sarah Palin.
"Is there anyone who seriously believes she's an atheist? She's a neocon fundamentalist christian who claims she's an atheist because Fox News needs an atheist uncle tom and SE Cupp is incapable of experiencing shame."
@tasj0001 a conservative is what the libertarians have become. Neo conservatives are the ones who are against liberty, who are on the evil side of the class war, and have an agenda that is based on a perversion of biblical scripture even though most of them use/abuse hooker and drugs on a regular basis, and most of them are responsible for the deaths of literally millions of people each year through their international and domestic policies (drug war, Iraq, HIV pandemic, etc.)
@DeimosSaturn You've proven yet again to be a moron...and a lazy one at that. Neo-Con:1: a former liberal espousing political conservatism
2: a conservative who advocates the assertive promotion of democracy and United States national interest in international affairs including through military means
As defined by Merrian-Webster dictionarry.
Neither of those acknowledged definitions fit into your pathetic little libelous screed.
SE Cupp, an art history and religious studies major, paid to comment on public policy for the NY Daily... She's not paid for what she went to school for. What a joke!
She reminds me of Bill O'Reilly who is paid 10 million a year to talk about topics he has no authority on (He's a Master in broadcasting), while Rachel Maddow, who earns 1/60th of his salary has an actual Masters in Politics. This is the problem with my country today. Too many people paid to do jobs they know nothing about.
@seanvwolf And I am sure that Olbermann earns every penny of his 7 million dollar paycheck with that Bachelors of Science degree in communications arts. Not to say he isn't smart, anyone who is publish when they are 14 has a head on their shoulders, but his claim to fame is sports, and guess what Ms. Maddow makes less then he does and they are on the same network. So should Mr. Olbermann step down and let Ms. Maddow take his spot. YES, she at least acknowledges her biase and dosen't lie so much.
@mrrossn I prefer Maddow to Olbermann, myself, for the exact reason I prefer Maddow to Cupp, O Reilly, or Early-out Palin. I think the networks should put a person's credentials by their names... Not to qualify their statements, but to understand what perspective they come from, not a vague policy affiliation. More of a "John S., Veteran and Job-seeking Handiman, Pacific Coast" or "Beverly M., confection heiress and professional hairdresser." TV blurs the line b/w journalism and opinion.
....and Obama was a Constituional lecturer, yet by his extensions of the Patriot Act, Obamacare and other policies he's shown no grasp of understanding of the U.S Constitution.
Who's the bigger joke?
BTW, O'Reilly went to Harvard and Cupp went to Cornell, the same schools that produced Obama and Olbermann.
PPahlease! There is no way this lady is a real atheist. Everything about her is fake. Controlled Opposition is what it is called. She will dissapear when the tactic shows not to be working.
This 'Highest Rated Comment' contains every element necessary in order to predictably engage in the standard, ineffective liberal method of debating *any* question. Elegant in its simplicity.
There might be "official or ganged up Christians" but i don't think i have ever seen a real or unofficial Christian. The people who "gang up" are not really Christian, so much as they are the same people who would vote for Barabbas.
She is spot on. Save your fingers there is no denying her observation.

MSNBC is a joke, they are so liberal that they make Al Jazeera look fair and balanced. you can take the overwhelming coverage of the tea party rallys as a conservative bias!? is cenk smoking crack rocks? OR you consider the context of the coverage into consideration and the way the people were labeled as religious zealots and nutjobs as a liberal bias. since when is mere coverage the only indication of bias and not the content? also, very convenient/ irresponsible/scummy place to end the segment. new low for "journalism"

@UberTankred It's funny, because her views are no different then Christian conservatives and she claims she aspires to be able to believe in god one day. Bullshit!

DawnOfTheDead991 11 months ago
@EchoMike03 I am laboring under a wrong assumption that you understood that right wingers at FOX & talk radio deliberately & dishonestly provoke their paranoid theocon fans with patently false accusations of media bias, Ironically, most of them aren't even Xtian. For example, I heard that bitch Tammy Bruce lie & accuse the "media" of attacking Xmas because they dubbed a mass murderer who wore a Santa suit the "Santa Killer". When you work for FOX, lying about the War on Xmas is de riguer.
DawnOfTheDead991 11 months ago
Isn't it interesting that she assumes anyone who supports equal rights for gays must be an atheist? She apparently thinks all Christians hold only socially conservative values and beliefs.
MarmaladeINFP 1 year ago
@MarmaladeINFP Well she knows that right wing Xtians, her market target, do.
DawnOfTheDead991 11 months ago
@DawnOfTheDead991 Yes. I understand she is playing to her target audience. But her comment is still ignorant. I just can't stand people who believe that only Christians or Americans (or whatever other label for people) who act, think, or look like just like them are 'real' Christians or 'real' Americans. Also, these type of right-wingers assume that their brand of conservatism is 'real' conservatism despite most conservatives being moderates. These rightwing Xtians are a minority.
MarmaladeINFP 11 months ago
@DawnOfTheDead991 An interesting thing is that there is actually a conservative argument in defense of gay marriage.
benjamindavidsteele.wordpress. com/2011/02/03/lawrence-odonnell-fighting-for-gay-marriage/
Many people forget that in the US it has often been Christians fighting for civil rights and equality. The US constitution authorized slavery & the treating of women as second class citizens. Both were defended using Biblical arguments. Yet, it was Christians who also challenged both.
MarmaladeINFP 11 months ago
@MarmaladeINFP i agree, Christians have done lots of decent things, but not the ones the GOP has been using & duping for the last 20 odd years. As far as slavery goes, there were Xtians, like Southern Baptists, who were totally okay with slavery and Jim Crow, versus Christian abolitionists & civil rights types. After all there are 200 million+ Xtians & 100s of sects, so there is great variety of them. Cupps is just pandering to GOP fundies & evangelicals who watch FOX with her lame ass book
DawnOfTheDead991 11 months ago
@MarmaladeINFP Also, almost all Xtian sects, as well as most other non Christians ones, were against the War in Iraq, with the notable exception of the US theocons and evangelicals, who were as pro-war and pro-Bush as they come.
DawnOfTheDead991 11 months ago
@DawnOfTheDead991 The reason it's easy to think all Christians are theocons & evangelicals is because the mainstream media is obsessed with them. I suppose there is a good reason for this considering these fundies have an agenda they are always trying to force onto society. Liberal & moderate Christians simply practice their religion in private & don't tend to evangelize or politicize. The fundies see the media constantly reporting about fundies & so assume all 'real' Christians are fundies.
MarmaladeINFP 11 months ago
If she was really an atheist, she wouldn't care if Christianity was "under attack," since atheists think religion doesn't make any sense to begin with.

"With a[n American] fascist [unlike a German or Italian fascist], the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power. His method is to poison the channels of public information. " ~ Henry Wallace

So, she looked around her, and noticed that many journalists and so-called evangelicals rallying, and drawing a lot of attention (and subsequently income).
yeahmedude 1 year ago
to herself by rallying anger at the a so-called liberal media.

There's a vast liberal media attack taking place on Christians and one of the best examples of this she can give is that the movie "The Compass" received some better reviews than "The Chronicles of Narnia"?

@DeimosSaturn I think she's there to deceive the fundy-flock from finding out what slaves they've become; The fundy's talking straw atheist. She'll say something scientific sounding, like a palinistic-bushism with a little late 19th centurist jargon (enough to make her seem like she is not one of their own), and with mistakes obvious enough that a couch-potato fundie can target her instead of their own faults. After this comes full-on lockdown of the Christian Right by their own policy leaders.

DeimosSaturn 1 year ago

You sound so incredibly stupid with each additional post .
So tell me, what does Cupp's faith have to do with the media admitting they were in the bag for Obama? SEE the JourNoList scandal.
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn I don't care if you have a funtioning brain. In fact the evidence is in you do not. One more time for the intellectually challenged individual you have demonstated to be. She claims she's an athiest. Your evidence to the contrary is what again?
It's that same brand of stupidity as those who claim Obama is a closet Muslim. He claims he is not. The proof he is what?
When you post something in a public forum that's patently absurd, expect a rebuttal. 47 idiots notwithstanding.
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@dalmatian847 The evidence, for a SECOND TIME are her contradictions, as illustrated in Coctopus's video about SE Cupp, regarding her philosophical views on the subject of god, belief, etc.
Now, if I did not have a functioning brain, "in fact", I wouldn't be typing this message. But what you really mean to say is I'm "stupid", but according to who's standard? Yours. In other words: A stupid person's standards.
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn That's lovely. However what the fuck does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Now using your criteria, I can say every Chriatian I know doesn't beleive Obama is a Christian, (although he claims to be). Obama has a 100% record of support for abortion rights, euthanasia, and gay marriage. Three things firmly against the Christian faith.

This is different from a person claiming to not believe in god but be open to the possibility only to turn around and say that she wouldn't want an atheist to be president because she thinks a theist is accountable to someone who she says doesn't exist! The phoniness is self evident
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn I guess I missed that part in the 1st Amendment that bans athiests from commenting on organized religion.
By comparison Cenk was born a Muslim, but now claims he's an agnostic. Yet comments in support of the Ground Zero Mosque, Muslim profiling, and support of Palestinians against Isreal.
I suppose he shouldn't be allowed to comment on that using your odd criteria.
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@dalmatian847 Again, there are muslims who do not support the "ground zero mosque", who understand muslim profiling, and support Israel. The same way there are atheists and moderate liberals who are against the Zionist agenda, support the "ground zero mosque" (i''m an atheist and I have no issue with the Muslim enrichment center in the financial district), and I don't fully support muslim profiling. None of that is antithetical to not believing in a god. You are comparing apples and oranges.
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn Actually that's my point. You can comment or criticize something or choose to support views not held by your faith or community and still be a member of that faith or community(i.e athiests) WTF are you to decide who is and who's not an athiest. If that's what she beleives, and faith or lack of is a personal chioice(like abortion) who are you to make that judgement?
Now again, what relevance is that to this particular topic A book on media bias against Christianity?
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn What you are attempting to do is isolate her as a hypocrite who professes to be athiest but defends Chriatianity from unfair media attacks. Therefore you attack her credibility to comment on this topic.
Rather than debate the issue at hand. Does the liberal media have a bias against Christians?
I'd say look up Alinsky's Rules for radicals but I'm guessing it's already on your bedside fully dog-eared and annotated with liner notes.
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn And Obama's contradictions against him being a Christian are his support of abortion on demand, euthanasia, and gay marriage.
Yet something tells me you'd be the first to defend that he is based on HIS OWN CLAIMS despite these clear contradictions.
The nice thing about being a liberal is never actually having to provide proof to back up your ideas.
So what does her athiesm have to do with her claims of liberal bias against Christian religion?
dalmatian847 1 year ago

@dalmatian847 she said that in a cspan interview

@SuCKeRPunCH187 Thank you for not answering the question. As this thread is referring to this video, the question still stands. Where in this video clip does she comment on preferring a thiest president over an athiest president?
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn
That was about as well said as it anyone could have said it!
Not to mention she's an ELITIST... went to Ivy League Cornell... got her masters degree from NYU. Was a ballerina princess and probably never worked a real day of labor in her life.
stone34 1 year ago
@stone34 this term "elitist" is a bit of a non sequitur. It's a GOOD THING to get a master's degree from a big universtiy and to go to an Ivy League school. Her problem is that she's a sociopath who is capable of lying without remorse or guilt. She might even be a pathological liar. Just because someone has never "worked a real day of labor" in their lives, doesn't necessarily mean they are oblivious. She simply doesn't care.
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn- I should've clarified what I meant by elitist. This is the new buzz word by the Tea Party. Oh look at President Obama & advisors. They went to Harvard / Ivy League schools. Oh they are out of TOUCH ELITISTS.
I agree 1000% it's a joke that these people say this. America is all about you study hard, work hard & success can happen. So when people study hard, excel & get into the very BEST schools suddenly this is a bad thing.
stone34 1 year ago
@stone34
It's just because most of the Tea Party can't get into good schools so they attack it.
As for SE, I think it's great she went to such good schools. She obviously worked hard and did well and got into to them. But I just think it's ridiculous for her to take DEMS to task and call Dems Elitists etc... when she lived a privleged life as a ballerina and Ivy League school girl.
stone34 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn
And being an Athiest defending Christian Right. I mean if SE really believes so strongly in defending religious Freedom she should defend the Ground Zero Mosque and the Muslims rights under the Constitution to build it there.
Now that would really be defending the constitution.
stone34 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn I was thinking the same, she is a disgrace to REAL atheists! The day a real atheist believes this bitch, and openly admits it, I'll vote for Sarah Palin.

@DeimosSaturn
Do you even know what "neo-con" means?
If she's a fundamentalist Christian she is much more likely to be conservative.
So, why do you hate people who don't march in lock step with your ideology?
tasj0001 1 year ago
@tasj0001 no she is a neo-con, I have no recollection of Barry Goldwater standing up and spouting out this nonsense, but Hannity does.

@nesteph
I was referring to this:
"Is there anyone who seriously believes she's an atheist? She's a neocon fundamentalist christian who claims she's an atheist because Fox News needs an atheist uncle tom and SE Cupp is incapable of experiencing shame."
tasj0001 1 year ago
@nesteph And you define neo-con as what?
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@tasj0001 a conservative is what the libertarians have become. Neo conservatives are the ones who are against liberty, who are on the evil side of the class war, and have an agenda that is based on a perversion of biblical scripture even though most of them use/abuse hooker and drugs on a regular basis, and most of them are responsible for the deaths of literally millions of people each year through their international and domestic policies (drug war, Iraq, HIV pandemic, etc.)
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn You've proven yet again to be a moron...and a lazy one at that. Neo-Con:1: a former liberal espousing political conservatism
2: a conservative who advocates the assertive promotion of democracy and United States national interest in international affairs including through military means
As defined by Merrian-Webster dictionarry.
Neither of those acknowledged definitions fit into your pathetic little libelous screed.
dalmatian847 1 year ago
@tasj0001 Clearly they do not. It's just a talking point drilled into their lobotomized little heads by their handlers at MoveOn.org.
For a political movement that openly supported eugenics in the past, I think you've answered your own question on why they hate people.

Too many people paid to do jobs they know nothing about.
seanvwolf 1 year ago 2
@seanvwolf And I am sure that Olbermann earns every penny of his 7 million dollar paycheck with that Bachelors of Science degree in communications arts. Not to say he isn't smart, anyone who is publish when they are 14 has a head on their shoulders, but his claim to fame is sports, and guess what Ms. Maddow makes less then he does and they are on the same network. So should Mr. Olbermann step down and let Ms. Maddow take his spot. YES, she at least acknowledges her biase and dosen't lie so much.
mrrossn 1 year ago
@mrrossn I prefer Maddow to Olbermann, myself, for the exact reason I prefer Maddow to Cupp, O Reilly, or Early-out Palin. I think the networks should put a person's credentials by their names... Not to qualify their statements, but to understand what perspective they come from, not a vague policy affiliation. More of a "John S., Veteran and Job-seeking Handiman, Pacific Coast" or "Beverly M., confection heiress and professional hairdresser." TV blurs the line b/w journalism and opinion.
seanvwolf 1 year ago 3
@seanvwolf
....and Obama was a Constituional lecturer, yet by his extensions of the Patriot Act, Obamacare and other policies he's shown no grasp of understanding of the U.S Constitution.
Who's the bigger joke?
BTW, O'Reilly went to Harvard and Cupp went to Cornell, the same schools that produced Obama and Olbermann.

There might be "official or ganged up Christians" but i don't think i have ever seen a real or unofficial Christian. The people who "gang up" are not really Christian, so much as they are the same people who would vote for Barabbas.
