hahahah man you dont know about windows 7 this is a question if you need to run the program.if you say yes it will run it but this isnt to protect your pc.and if you try to run a not harmfull program it will question you.so you dont know a lot of about windows 7
@dylan9436 dude. I used Eset nod 32, win defender, norton, hitmanpro, onecare, and win. removal tools, to scan my PC. It was slow and messed up. I decided to use malware bytes and it found a trojan dropper. Since then, my PC's faster, and its not screwed up any more.
I'm a bit disappointed with this review. First of all, you can't protect any computer if the user manually installs malware. You also had UAC not fully turned on (the default settings gives no warning when you change Windows settings). Windows can be made very secure by making a few changes (like SRP).
Good video but keep in mind that UAC has nothing to do with publisher status. It pops up ANYTIME something requests administrative privillages, such as installing.
This is why it popped up the same for the malware you installed as for Microsoft Security Essentials.
use avast or nod32,which is ,of course slightly, but better.MSE sucks!microsoft is so lazy it can't patch holes and fix bugs normally as other companies,i'm saying this even though i'm an xp user
Just to make you clear, Windows Defender isn't an Antivirus's.
And also, Yes, I agree it should have told you.
Action Center had 2 issues when you put your cursor over it, but it didn't class them as important. (When it does class them as important, it goes red and alerts you) which I think it should of.
wow I didn't think that windows defender was that good. Windows often say that they highly recommend that you install a av program. So you if you have windows defender, a av program and a av add on like sas or mbam you will have a pretty good protection
what kinda antivirus software do you use on your own PC? i would assume you use Malwarebytes as a scanner, but as i recall it dont provide real time protection, so which one do you use?
well I usually use two different ones. I usually use CIS but have switched to KIS for the time being. The reason is that I need to have something that is easy to use for my other family members. Once version 4 of Comodo comes out I hope that it will be really user friendly so I can switch back, I really like CIS.
AVG sucks forever it can never improve. but avast improved a lot but the avast 5 behavior shield is not working yet but avast with heurisics = awesome
I don't think Microsoft could give an option to install MSE , even if only optional, without getting into potential anti trust issues and causing an uproar with the other security providers.
I was really talking about just giving to you as an option through windows update if it sees that your current av is expired or if you don't have one installed.
The problem is, if they did that.. it's still be anti-trust issues, because people and other companies are to much of a jackass to allow microsoft to help improve their own products out of the box, which is possible.
They have to make it so the OS doesn't ask for it, or you have those tards argue that MS is pushing their free products down throats and not being fair to other companies.
Hmmmn, maybe do a video with Essentials preinstalled before testing those malware sites? By the way, Essentials supposedly disabled Windows Defender as it is meant to replace it, being a superior program.
Victor, Always go with 64bit if you have the hardware and you do anything heavy like music, video and heavy graphic production. I find everything else works great as well.
On a side note, with a 32 bit system you can use Sandboxi But 64bit versions of Windows renders it useless.
The problem is that a company won't care because of the methodology used while testing. There are plenty of discussion between "hobby testers" and developers. Just look at some bigger security boards.
Microsoft Essentials is the best anti-virus software by date (Avira 2nd) + it's free.

uac pops up at the mse because you need admin rights to install it i think

Because MSE is from Microsoft and is free other well know security companies like AVG or Avast will have to (hopefully) improve their free products.

Thanks for your Windows 7 Security Test review!
By the way, do you recomend 32 or 64 Win7 O.S.?
I heard about a software called Personal Firewall which includes HIPS. Is there any chance you do a review about it?
Thanks in advance.
