Yeah, it's a really sad ending. Manly tears were shed as Carmine/Vermillion went off to certain doom. I LOVE the music used as he flies off and she shouts his name, sadly it's not on the soundtrack CD, very frustrating!
No, she doesn't die. Even the Dragon may not die, but possible. We'll never know because another episode was never made. I wish that at least one more episode were made just to find out what happens and close the story.
Lol, I suppose you could view it that way. I'd rather have Carmine survive though. With anime though, he may not come back. The Japanese are very good at killing off characters, at least in older anime that is.
EWW tentacle rape OH so its demon/dragon that fuses with a human/demon and i bet it youst to be a descendent from either the first girl or the first demon
This anime shows a lot of the human flaws, and are represented in a cruel way towards dragons. Kinda shows the side of dragons that noone really sees, they may as well be better than us in every sense. As for Carmine, life has not been especially kind... Unless someone finds the anime, what happens next to him will remain unknown.
I have to say that this anime really touched me, deeply, even though there are only two episodes... I wish there was more so badly.
Yes, what I loved most about it was how noble the dragons were, coming to the humans' rescue despite the foolishness that happened in the previous chapter.
well i'm going to try anyway, i love all this old anime, (Maybe i'll find one in some hanger the desert). And thank you so much for your help Flegan. Even if i don't find, it at least this anime will still be here on youtube.
Oh sorry I didn't see your post earlier Rufus. Well there was an original short manga published in Lemon People magazine called Dragon Breeder. It has the same setting as the Demon Century (second dark ages, etc.) but what wasn't quite as dark as the anime. It's not really an original manga, but it was where Ryukihei began his work.
wow that's great, thank you so much! I am defeinately going to try and see if i can find that magazine or maybe that short somewhere on the internet or something. And again, thank you so much!!
I doubt you could find it nowadays Rufus. Lemon People went out of print back in 1998. You'd have to do one hell of a search to find even one copy lying around these days.
What cool anime. Too bad it was discontinued. The ending leaves much unanswered. I under stand it somewhat, but its hard to actually know what they mean since i do not know Japanese. maybe they should have a remake in both Japanese and American languages.
I wish you much luck, it's a tough find these days. If only I could have told you guys about this anime back in 2003, when copies of the VHS were better stocked! D=
OMG this is such a great anime just wish there was more to it. Poor Camine :( I guess the point of this sad anime is to show that life doesn't have happy endings, and you are forced to keep on fighting.
Back in the 80's, anime wasn't quite as prolific as it is now. You had to either know someone in Japan, go to Japan or get a copy from someone who did have the above. Laserdiscs would cost $100-$150 for a 30-40 min show. This usually meant 3rd to 5th generation VHS and BETA tape copies. Basically the american market didn't exist in the 80's and was a nonfactor. Now of course, that's different and I think they actually try to theme some of the newer anime to apeal to both americans and japanese.
really, i'm gonna try and find them, altho it may be in vain, o and i loved these vids and both added all 6 vids 2 my favorites and wished they continued the series
tentacles, Japan sure loves em

@ShogoYahaagi She died? Is that what you're saying? Or is it the dragon that died?

It's not a definitive ending though. Carmine may have come back alive for all we know. Too bad they didn't extend this into a long running series

this anime is so awesome. why didn't they finish it?? this could've been a smash in the US.

oh ok, you have a point there. but man oh man, i still wish there was a way for it to get to other countries. 2 episodes of genius.

I wish they had finished this series, I think it would have been great.
ShogoYahaagi 3 years ago
Me too. The creator, Ryukihei, made other dragons works too, but since 1996, has disappeared from the anime/manga world for some reason
