  • Nice vid - I love the touring models; Especially with a manual transmission. What's up with all the keys? Doesn't that jingling sound irritate you when you are driving?

  • @Maxseven777 I used to carry a lot of crap on my key chain, and it did irritate me so I don't do it anymore. This E61 was traded in awhile ago but there was a buyer for it before it even made it back to the dealership. It's a rare combo.

  • I'm debating between a 335xi sedan and one of these. I don't know how much driving experience is lost with the extra weight, though.

  • @TheFerruccio Honestly, I can't tell you because I've never driven a 335xi. The touring wasn't too bad though and it was a fairly fun car to drive for it's size. It definitely had the power to move out pretty well and surprised a lot of people at stop lights.

  • @foleygac I'll have an opportunity to try both, if they're still available once I find the time. I'll report back with any findings, if I can!

  • You do know the video is corrupted right?

  • I know the audio is slightly off, but where else is there a problem?

  • It was just that the audio is off, I promise I wasn't meaning to be rude, just verifying :)

  • Okay, I just wanted to make sure there weren't other problems. For whatever reason, YouTube's HD uploading service has been sketchy as of late. My guess is there's too much traffic on the servers and uploaded video is not converting properly.

I know you weren't trying to be rude, so no worries. I would want to know if there was a serious problem with the upload. Unfortunately, this was the best quality out of three uploads so I gave up.

  • what happen to it ?

  • Nothing serious, my Bilstein front struts somehow managed to get large amounts of play in them and it causes all sorts of sounds and flex in the front suspension. I can still drive it if I want to, but I can't deal with the awful feelings and the awful sounds it makes. Only good news is the struts have a lifetime warranty.

  • do you have 2 bmw ?

  • No, this is my Mom's. My E39 is currently undriveable. I'm hoping after tomorrow that will change.

  • wow. we've got like the same cars. i've got an E39 528i (and an E36 M3 (technically my dad's) which i drive all the time. my sister drives the E39 cause she's back from college for the summer). and my mom has an E61 (wagon) 530xi. i wished she had waited about a month though because they 535xi would've been out and she could've gotten a manual (she wanted one, but they didn't make the 530xi wagon with a manual).

  • The 535xi is a fun car to drive, but you can feel the weight. In my family we also have a 2006 Z4 3.0si 6 speed and 2008 Z4M roadster.

I'm currently putting money aside to purchase an E92 M3 in the coming years. I'll still keep my E39 because it holds a lot of sentimental value.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • wow nice!. good choice with the E92 M3. and yeah the E61 is pretty heavy. especially compared to the E36. but it's a great road trip car. comfortable, lots of space, good fuel economy (i got 28.5 mpg cruising at 75 mph for 1.5 hours), and good in all sorts of weather.

  • I convinced my mom to get this over an X5. She had the previous generation and IMO it sucked a lot.

At least with the wagon you get the advantage of having a vehicle with versatility that can actually be driven like a regular car.

She loves it because, and I'm quoting her here, "it's a sleeper." No one expects anything from it because it's a wagon. Needless to say, she constantly tells me that I made the right choice when I told her the wagon was for her.
