Jodhi may starred too in: tipping the velvet, and the major of casterbridge. I think also Emma *CMIIW*. But only in tipping the velvet and in sister my sister she's a lesbian. in other movies she's straight
@lavvy2585 is the house was big.., the woman could have told them to clean the dust/ wash the floor everyday or something, there were no washing machines, and they probably had parties and silver cutlery than needed polish, depends how neurotic the boss was.
@Rachelmariaaa When I first saw this movie, I was shocked at how the mother and daughter barely spoke to the girls. It was if they were considered another piece of furniture in the house and not human beings. Not a "Thank You" or "You are doing so well," or even a nod of appreciation.
@darhug1968a its more about them not being able to control their hatred, and if so it is questionable if they deserved it or not. certainly something wrong was going on.
@selfidentity1 Sorry, but you need to explain more. It sounds like you are saying that, if the two sisters cannot control their anger, then the consequences are excusable.
@darhug1968a I'm saying that self control has a limit and they might have diminuished responsibility for their actions depending on the reasons. you obviously don't know what hatred is, try moving to a country where nobody talks to you.
@darhug1968a there have been a few people in my life who's eyes I would have love the pleasure to rip out but as horrible as this lady was she didn't deserved to die like that. Separating her from her sister was what caused the attack. They flipped out due to fear of what the mistress would have done once she came home.
@lavvy2585 I agree, but the terrible irony is that by committing this terrible murder, they turned the possibility of separation into a certainty. They even waited in the house for the police.
@darhug1968a I am pretty sure they weren't thinking that way. They murdered them, stripped themselves probably because of the bloody clothing and sat there because there girls had no where to go. The were very poor and probably frightened out of their minds.
@lavvy2585 Just to say that I was pointing out the irony of the murder, and not the motivation. By all accounts it was simply an argument that got out of hand, combined with the paranoia of the older sister.
@darhug1968a I got your point and it was valid she was so afraid of them being separated that her actions most certainly caused what she was trying to prevent.
She is trapped in that house with a mother who - let's face it - has one or two screws loose, and a pair of sisters who are so in touch with eachother that the room practically turns into a blue movie everytime they walk into it. I feel sorry for the fact she was murdered, she barely got to live life properly. Poor thing.
When I first watched this movie on video, I had the impression that the daughter Isabelle was showing some signs of attraction towards Lea, and hence jealousy of what was going on between the 2 sisters.
