  • I don't think any of those whingeing German bastards were fainting or shivering when they gave Hitler salutes at Munich. Oh no. If only mkore of the bastards could have been wiped out. Sadly, thyere are only so many Germans one can kill on one night.

  • The Brazil guy died...YES!

  • Вечная память погибшим русским...

  • @randy95023 odd how After 1hour, and watching the previous Ep "Wolf Pack" where thats what the chap said, about how the navy and airforce could have used their bombers more effectively, took you 30 years of WW2 study.

  • After studying WW2 for 3 decades I've come to the conclusion that until we got accurate methods of bombing military production and oil refineries etc. we should not have wasted so many of our bombers and their trained crews. About 10% of the long range B24 Liberators and a small percentage of long range Lancasters could have patrolled the Atlantic, destroying many U-Boats which were giving us a hell of a time early in the war. A Better use of limited resources.

  • Albert Speer got off easy with 20yrs.

  • @PanzerBuyer well speer collaborated with the allies, that's why he got some mercy...

  • Yeah. I'm sure the Germans were made really happy by taking all those bombs. Good thinking habsmeister09. You are a true scholar.

  • Albert Speer of course was right. There was no damage to German morale; indeed the effect was opposite. That's where Churchill and the Mad Bomber (Harris) were wrong.

  • @habsmeister09 So why are Germans still whining about Dresden?

  • @TheBelovedButterfly

Yes, it is a pity there were not more Germans in Dresden to be killed.

  • @habsmeister09 As as the Luftwaffe was run by an obese, manic-depressive, hypochondriac, morphine addict, you should be wary of calling Harris "mad".

  • If the mission is to put bombs on target then in 1940 you had to fly daylight bombing raids! Sure your casualties will be higher, but your #1 goal is completing the mission. Any casualties at all are unacceptable if you do NOT achieve your mission. Higher casualties are acceptable if you DO achieve your mission. Dying in vain (missing your target by 7 miles) is more horrid than dying for a cause (bombs ON target). Sound harsh? War IS harsh...

  • Yeah, bombing 2000 years off European culture and missing the nazis, great.

  • @StaffanGoldschmidt Culture means nothing when your life is in danger pal !

  • I didn't know the Brits used pigeons to bomb Nazi-Germany ... them pigeons must have carried some highly damaging firecrackers...

  • No, we simply trained them to defecate in large quantities whilst in flight - at the smell of Bratwurst. Once their basic training had been completed, we simply set them off in a south-Easterly direction, et voila!

  • Ahhh ... so that explains everything ... et voilà ... no wonder French grape vines yielded such good post-war wines ... c'est la vie ...

  • but Germany used falcons to stop those pigeons...that movie "Valiant" was actually true in real life.

  • Pigeons are not an easy prey as you think ... you might not have noticed, but pigeons have an irregular flight pattern ...

  • jimmy stewart......he was a bad ass...god bless em

  • Many famous actors during the war rejected easy assignments due to them because of their fame. Not just Stewart, but Eddie Albert, Charles Durning (who was on Omaha Beach on 6/6/44), Henry Fonda, Jack Palance (who was almost killed in a B-17), and James Arness.

They had to pry Stewart out of his bomber. He wanted to re-enlist after his initial tour of duty was complete (25 missions).

  • @reanimate280

Jimmy was not so great at flying planes in the desert, though. Tended to crash them and needed a German to create a Phoenix out of the wreckage.

  • What were the pigeons for?

  • Carrier pigeons were used to send messages across enemy lines.

Sadly, that species is now extinct.

  • Hey, where's the Brazil guy?

  • the renegade air conditioning repair man?

  • He went to Argentina to see if he can watch it there.

  • After listening to "Bomber" Harris I find it amazing that humans can simply put basic human morality on the shelf during war time. Even though the Allies were justified in bombing Germany to win the war, it seems that we simply lose our humanity for a time when fighting a war.

  • You have do lose that to fight a war! Do you think the German's thought about that?

  • @randy109 war is war, there is no more easy way to win a war,be harsh or get harshed, you become soft, your enemy takes advantage of your weakness and defeat you, every succesful commanders are harsh, but thats coz he should be,or i may just say he must be...

  • 0:06 ... and "they burnt well". What would have happened if this sentimental pundit had same same about jews. I mean it's so damned easy to condemn nazies what they did (they deserve condemn) but for heavens sake why didn't this tv-serie condemn the ideology of ugly bastard Harris. Harris infact was near to destroy warfare of western allies. Harris was the biggest idiot amoung western military commanders.

  • Area bombing significantly reduced German industrial capacity,it was something they needed to do! If they didn't the War might have lasted until 1946 or 1947.

  • @tranmere789 strategically if they can raze germany to the ground with air raids, then could have the germans on their mercy, but sadly, technology isnt sufficient in that time for air raids to reign suppreme, but now,air raids are the most fearsome weapons...

  • What a beautiful woman at 05:45

  • You really must get out of the house more.

    ; /

  • What, you dont agree that she looks nice?

Do you have higer standards maybe?

  • James Stewart!
