He is like underdog... the super hero. He made this world more than just Microsoft and for just that he deserves his hero status. Not a saint but an cultural icon.
I've seen far too many comments from the whippersnappers saying he was great for what he did post 2000, but not much about what he did that really mattered, back in the 70s/80s. Also, he rocked that turtleneck like a mothertrucking French philosopher, yo.
I think he was good at seeing what would sell and how to make things accessable to the laymen. If you've not seen it check out pirates of scillion(sp) valley it's pretty interesting.
