Cathodos Myrion means the march of the 10.000 from the highlands (the inland) to the sea. So the Heracledean Cathodos and cathodos Hellenon. Greeks are native people of Greece. The Mydriads were professional Greek (Hellenic) soldiers in the Persian Empire. When Cyrus fell they had to go back to fathernal places and return home. Their march was from Mesopotamia to Greece through Pontos.
@dimstiv Pragmati (Really) !!! This video was truly unhistorical and there were not only Spartans, but Athenians, Corinthians, Macedonians, Thracians and a lot of other Greeks from different places !!!
the actual story says that in this battle not a single greek soldier died, only one was wounded ,the persian troops (more than 200000)of artaxerxes ii were not able to defeat the greek troops in a direct battle
the persians invited the 5 generals and numerous captains of the 10,000 to discuss terms of marching home, the persians killed the generals, and the greeks elected new captains and generals. rather than give up and surrender to nothing less than torture and unimaginable death. the greeks fought their way 1700 miles, back to their homeland. as unfortunate as it was to be deceived by cyrus as to why they were marching eastward. they were still able to fight their way back into legendary status.
thats not even how it happened. your perception or allusion to the chronological events that occurred are disingenuous or just outright lies. the greek contingent in the fight between cyrus and xerxes is the only contingent that held the day. they chased xerxes army three times off the battlefield, even after cyrus had died. and when the greeks decided to march home, the persians were unable to massacre the greeks. the superior discipline the greeks were able to muster was un matched.
im sorry but all that shit u put in at the end "the greeks were being slautered for a king they didnt serve" is so stupid as hell the spartans did most of the killing and they fought for them selves, there nation, and there king
i thought this was great allthough visually not 100 percent acccurite, that whould have been extreammlly difficult to do , i like the fact that this demish's the emence amounts of other videos of the same game showing a small emounte of spartans slaughtering , the weakest of the persian soldiors, its clear the persians werent known for foot soldiors their for all of their videos are essentially promoteing poor gameplay .
HA! Maybe you should make a video depicting what actually happened in the battle, with the Greeks advancing on the flank of the Persian army and crushing through it, routing those dirty and worthless faggots. Nobody cares about your pathetic alternate history.
@thewrightbrotherz You tell people to stop complaining about the historical inaccuracies. Why dont you just get rid of the first part that says it has anything to do with Xenophon and the 10000? You called it historical, just call it something else and no one will care.
The artworks was amazing!!! It really gave you a feel of the numbers and how hard the Greeks had to fight. The history is horrible and fabricated. This is General Xenephone's account of the 10 000 mercenaries from Greece. * he was also a student of the great Socrates and Plato his classmate. His book is called the Anabasis, And the Greeks did not lose a battle and marched out from the battle you show, and spent 2 years in full armor fighting everyone from Babylon to the Black Sea coast .
the persians didnt had a million soldiers. that time they couldt count that well, its all based on discriptions of various people, including allot of persian ones. it might be as well as 100.000. its really hard to supply a army of 1.700.000 units, even in world war 1 and 2 that wwas extremely difficult, and they had trucks and such. and standing with around 1000 men (that much the spartans had with allies) against like 100.000 is still fucking heroic. so persian lovers, go home boys.
@serviusje my servian bro..persians Army was 5m and 600.000 thousants (with animals.sefs, womans, etc) (HERODOTOS numbers)Greece army were 10.000 before the battle start but after a meeting with the Generals they make a desicion to go and def at Istmos of korinthos but leonidas with 300 and 700 thespians stay there and fight for 5 days the persians without any loose only some injures and then Efialtes comes....
King Leonidas of Sparta wanted to protect his home and people from that
Pershian guy who thought he were a "God" ( English bad :)__),
Leonidas was betrayed of 1 of his own people who showed the Pershian another way around to take over Sparta, cause the only path was blocked by Leonidas.
Pershian god guy got his army (dont know if it was all of them) wich ended up in a number of 1.700.000 people, who were going to burn down Sparta.
@Gubbentralle Actually The persian king xerxes was avenging the burn of Sardamis during his great grandfather Darius's time and leonidas was betrayed by some gay hupback cause he couldn't fight and the 300 killed over 20,000 persians.
@Gubbentralle alright, first his name was xerxies=zerkzies, secondly, the actual amount of persians was actuall around 500.000 men. The movie that your going off of was extremely dramatized
hey asshole the spartans lost cause you were going them back nad forward and again back and the archers killed a lot of spartans oh and spartan dont fighting in open places if you want to win spartan make this video at Thermopylae and them youll see what ll hapen
All said by Trajed is complete truth. First, 70% of them survived. Then they won the battle and killed Cyrus (and their persians allies left the battle, they stood up alone), but they had to go back home (paid by the persians, in exchange they made the promess to never come back in persia). But it took them 10 years to travel home because they sold their military services (because they were mercenaries) in Thrace and Macedonia. And Xenophon was in the expedition that's why he wrote a story about
This is the first stand of Cyrus against Artexerxes but I don't remenber who won. Cyrus was killes during a brave charge. That was the vanguard of a huge greek army, the majority of it knew nothing about the battle results. It tooks days to understand greek army was left alone and haunting by Artexerxes men who had fear of the remained 10,000 greeks and never tried a massive attack to eliminate them in a row. Greeks had to reject several skirmishes until they reached greek land.
i am greek. i know greek history better than all you . Greeks never lost a fucking battle against the persians. In all 3 battles Greeks won. The first was the marathon battle were persians were all killed 1 by 1.Then a greek runner traveled 42 kms running all the way just to say "nenikikamen" which means "we won". the second battle was at the thermopyles - hotgates- were leonidas lost but it considered a win. Then the last battle was 10000 greeks vs. 50000 persians. Greeks finnaly won
Btw if it wasn't for Ephialtes of Trachis for betraying the spartans, then I think they could of took on all 2 million of the persian military. Well as said when the persians found the trail around the mountain which wasn't very well detailed in the move 300, leonidas I sent some greeks back home while the 300 spartans protected the rear and 700 thespians died defending them. Sure they won Thermopylae, but Battle of Salamis made persians shit themselves
*sigh* everything is fine on this video until the part you say that the greeks were defeated... Actually the persians and asian mercenaries led by Cyrus were defeated as he was killed. The 10.000 led by a hellenic / spartan general were almost intact as they had dispatched only a small part of the persian army. then the hellenic "mercenary" army which were now there without an actual cause marched back towards their homeland. You can read the whole expedition from Xenophon's book: Cyrus Anabasis
@SuperBarax many people dont know that it weren't 300 but 1300 men, on the last day 1000 were forced to retreat from Leonidas, so that they could fight another day, 300 volunteers stayed to buy time for the 1000 survivors
@iib0r3dum96 DONT BE FOOLED BY THIS VIDEO DUDE I KNOW YOU WHACTED IT TWO WEKS AGO BUT IT ANGERS ME BECAUSE THIS DIDNT ACTUALLY HAPPEN READ THE BATTLE OF CUNAXA IN WIKIPEDIA AND LOOK AT THE RIGHT HAND SIDE CHART YOU DONT HAVE TO READ THE WHOLE THING AND YOU WILL SEE THE GREEKS DIDN'T LOSE
There are two songs on this. The first is called 'We are all one' from Medieval Total War 2, the second is 'Now we are free' and is from the film Gladiator
LOL what is this? Alt History? XD Dude, the Greeks suffered light casualties at the battle of Cunaxa. They routed the Persian troops they faced multiple times. The only reason the battle was lost is because Cyrus was killed and his rebellion crushed. The Greek Mercenaries simply left after no one would hire them.
u stupid fuck the greeks defeated the persians... it was their persian allies who got massacred but they remained intact and they actually won the battle they drove off the persians but they camp was unguarded and the persian destoryed all their supplies and they were offered a treaty by the persians to send them home but they were betrayed their leaders killed they fought on all the way to the black sea and more than half of them survived.. 6000 made it alive!! this is B.S. its not wat happened
@Trajedya84 yes i know the battle was a loss because the spartans were busy running after the routing persian right flank instead of turning around to fight the loyalists who were overwhelming the pretenders main force shortly after he was killed and the battle was (more or less) won by the persians who then withdrew in good order from the field due to fear that the remaining rebels might try and march on Babylon because at this point they were usnsure if Cyrus had been killed or not
@Trajedya84 Many of the remnants of cyrus's force were surrounded as they tried to return to their homelands including one section of greeks who chose a different root and the 10,000 abandoned men, the 10,000 were then used to try and take back thracia from the spartans by the deposed king of that country and after faliure went back to asia to be picked up by the spartans who had tried to make sure on many occasions they didn't survive to cover up any evidence of spartan involvment
@Trajedya84 the amount of troops eventually picked up numbered just over 2000 being that most had been either killed or stayed in Thracia where they would eventually succed in training the kings army and taking back his kingdom from the "invincible" spartan army which had been repeatedly defeated in the wars that followed this is thought of as their last "victory" although to call it that would be stupid: 40% of their army dead wounded or prisoner, their leaders all dead and heavily outnumbered
they wasnt spartans all most all where outlaw athenians and greeks from diferent parts but yes alot of them were dressed like spartans also alot of cavalry and peltast and when the fight ocurred the spartans persue the part of th persian army assigned them to fight then cyrus clash with his brother then lost when the greeks return to the battlefield they thought that they won the battle
@Trajedya84 the Greeks managed to force their way to the Black Sea. This achievement demonstrated the potential superiority of Greek soldiers against their Persian adversaries. It is thought that this was the reason why Philip II of Macedon formulated his strategy of defeating the Persian Empire by means of a compact and well-trained army: a feat accomplished by his son, Alexander the Great.
lol this was a patheitic attempt to make it look like the greeks lost a battle this is absoulote shit ,it was the allies who got massacred THE GREEKS REPORTADELY RECEIVED A WOUND TO ONLY ONE SOLDIER!
@somikingMC this was a persian civil war so officially there were no greeks but cyrus who had tried to take power from is brother had been lent 10,000 Spartan mercianries to help him
@somikingMC There was a war yes 100 years before the march of the 10,000 persia invaded, that was the war everyone knows about with marathon, plattea and thermoplae this was persian civil war with greeks being payed to fight on one side
omfg theres a fantasy book about this, message me for the name, its an fucking awesome book btw too, nothing to do with this history stuff but has the same shit!

There are two songs on this. The first is called 'We are all one' from Medieval Total War 2, the second is 'Now we are free' and is from the film Gladiator
slider2510 1 year ago
Decent video, questionable history, but mostly you just need to learn to spell. That totally ruined it.

PrimusGladius 1 year ago 2
u stupid fuck the greeks defeated the persians... it was their persian allies who got massacred but they remained intact and they actually won the battle they drove off the persians but they camp was unguarded and the persian destoryed all their supplies and they were offered a treaty by the persians to send them home but they were betrayed their leaders killed they fought on all the way to the black sea and more than half of them survived.. 6000 made it alive!! this is B.S. its not wat happened
Trajedya84 1 year ago 32
@Trajedya84 yes i know the battle was a loss because the spartans were busy running after the routing persian right flank instead of turning around to fight the loyalists who were overwhelming the pretenders main force shortly after he was killed and the battle was (more or less) won by the persians who then withdrew in good order from the field due to fear that the remaining rebels might try and march on Babylon because at this point they were usnsure if Cyrus had been killed or not
thewrightbrotherz 1 year ago
@Trajedya84 Many of the remnants of cyrus's force were surrounded as they tried to return to their homelands including one section of greeks who chose a different root and the 10,000 abandoned men, the 10,000 were then used to try and take back thracia from the spartans by the deposed king of that country and after faliure went back to asia to be picked up by the spartans who had tried to make sure on many occasions they didn't survive to cover up any evidence of spartan involvment

@thewrightbrotherz what game is this?If it's rome total war then how do the spartans look like that?Is it a mod or something?
sock1235 1 year ago
@Trajedya84 the amount of troops eventually picked up numbered just over 2000 being that most had been either killed or stayed in Thracia where they would eventually succed in training the kings army and taking back his kingdom from the "invincible" spartan army which had been repeatedly defeated in the wars that followed this is thought of as their last "victory" although to call it that would be stupid: 40% of their army dead wounded or prisoner, their leaders all dead and heavily outnumbered
thewrightbrotherz 1 year ago
@Trajedya84
they wasnt spartans all most all where outlaw athenians and greeks from diferent parts but yes alot of them were dressed like spartans also alot of cavalry and peltast and when the fight ocurred the spartans persue the part of th persian army assigned them to fight then cyrus clash with his brother then lost when the greeks return to the battlefield they thought that they won the battle
frankspartanking 1 year ago
@Trajedya84 way to know your history
foose49 1 year ago
@Trajedya84 the Greeks managed to force their way to the Black Sea. This achievement demonstrated the potential superiority of Greek soldiers against their Persian adversaries. It is thought that this was the reason why Philip II of Macedon formulated his strategy of defeating the Persian Empire by means of a compact and well-trained army: a feat accomplished by his son, Alexander the Great.
thepaulypaul1 1 year ago
lol this was a patheitic attempt to make it look like the greeks lost a battle this is absoulote shit ,it was the allies who got massacred THE GREEKS REPORTADELY RECEIVED A WOUND TO ONLY ONE SOLDIER!
