There are 6 camera teams, some are decoys. They reshoot a few scenes after the competition is over.

Pretty straightforward. There are no hindrances on the prey in most cases.

@marauderfh actually the episodes we are watching are ALL reshoots... none are EXACTLY what happened because they have no cameras for chase but after its over they refilm what happened

I catch this show on the science channel every so often, and I kind of enjoy it, but I want to know is this a big time reality show in Canada or is it just filmed for the science channel? If I was able to sign up for the show here in the U.S. then I would do it in a heartbeat.

Maybe the camera crew filming the people being track aids the Mantracker, naw, it`s just another unreal reality show, kinda like the Colony.

While the show doesn't address it, one camera MAN (singular) follows and is on the same team as the hunted. While the two contestants plot and strategize with each other, the cameraman has no input on what they do. He simply follows and escapes with them. He doesn't necessarily aid the hunted.

An example would be, say, Mantracker following at 1 mile. He looks through his binoculars and sees where they are, all three. It doesn't really have a difference if they had a cameraman or not

well no reality TV show can be like reality because there usually aren't camera crews following you around in reality. That being said, I'd say man-tracker is the most "authentic" reality TV show i've seen. way more than the colony where people act completely unrealistically. People who have been on mantracker claim that they really do try to beat mantracker and afterwords they come back and stage a few dramatic scenes that they couldn't capture on film during the chase.

They will send fake camera crew out there, aswell, so mantracker just doesn't look for the crew. Plus after the chase is over, they do reinactment shots.

The cameramen are professional adventure racers, apparently some of the highest ranked. There are two cameramen for the prey team and one for the horses. The one that follows the horses can keep up to them on foot. And yes, they are uber stealthy, usually keeping their distance from the prey.

It doesn't matter. Even if the cameramen are 500 meters away, it's a giveaway to the mantracker. Sometimes the contestants are hiding in shrubs while the horses walk past them just 100 feet away. Are you saying that the cameras can hide themselves when there's barely any shrub to hide the contestants themselves?

plus, they've already stated in past shows it's almost impossible to hide your tracks, so the mantracker can just find the cameramen's tracks to figure out what vicinity the prey is at.

from what I hear, both the tracker and prey have 2 camera guys on them, but one is on them all the time. So they save time and money, even on the reinacment shots... but somehow I think those shots are only the high shots (that looks like it's from a helicopter)

I just found this show today and wanted to see what people think about it and to tell you the truth I think it would be fun to just meet "mantracker" and piss him off.

It's an entertaining show. The wiki describes the "production process" (shooting the drama after the race) but it's all show biz....... Using google earth for this episode, the territory shown at the start of the show is 15 to 20km NE of Sault Ste Marie and the measured distance between the flare and end are more like 13km, 16 max - not 49km. If the map is actually factual.

there are a ton of cameramen and they are wearing camo. If Mantracker is close and the prey are hiding they have to use their 'preycams" so cameraman don't give them away. I'm sure that the camerapeople have given the prey away by accident a few times, they just don't say that.
