There is no NEED for another Watchmen movie/comic/cave painting...Just BECAUSE there is "loose ends" doesn't mean they need to be tied up, or explored or expanded upon, the Graphic novel and the movie told a story successfully and there is no need to do anything else with it. Also DC wont let another one be made seeing as there re-shaping all of there comics, they wont wont to go back over the old if they can make new stuff, esp since there playing catch up with Marvel.
i think seymor COULD continue the rorschach legacy but to me it seems unlikely also i don't think he's rorschachs son. however i think a watchmen sequil/prequil could work. yes it's the best graphic novel ever in my opinion but it's not god like. you can always make somthing better. plus it's alan freakin moore were talking about! the guy is a genius!!
Wait...(checks Rorschach and Seymore to see any similarities) Uh...Seymore odes seem to fit the age, since Rorschach is in his forties at least and Seymore looks like he's at least 19.
I like your idea , my theory is totally different. The Rosarch Diary gets published, people all over the US learn about the massacre detonated by Ozzymandias , and want his head for it. I don tknow how to go from there, but your Rosarch son would be killed like his father by Ozyy, Manhhatan or any other Watchmen to mantain the status quo, as they did with Rosarch.
i think that its 2000 theres like no one in new york except for them. hardly anyone. silk spectre 2 and nite owl are just clearing the streets searching for people. they suddenly crash when there in the owl ship. dr manhattan comes and stops the crash. lauries like omg dr manhattan wat u doing here. and she falls in love with him. then the little new yorkers there are become superheros to help niteowl and silk spectre. ozymandias goes into hiding etc.
ok its spelled i think rourschack and sounds like roar shak not raw shark this is because his name is taken from the rourschack inkblot test used for sico theropy(sorry if i spelled it wrong) and has allways been pronounced as roar shak not raw shark
@prejudgedcrowd No its spelled Rorschach, and the pronunciation is subject to interpretation because it came from Hermann Rorschach, who created the test but is generally pronounced as Raw Shark, ash he was Swiss
I also thought it was neat how they kind of made it so this could of happened (not really because of certain things just a thought) and things could be how they are today. Reasons: 1.The news found Rorschach's journal explaining why we don't have world peice. 2Dr,Manhattan went back to mars which would explain why we don't have a big blue guy running around. Come to think of it those are y only reasons. I could probably think of more and this is a 'just imagine' I don't think this could happen
He decides to go after Ozymandias (like you thought) and then at the end there would be some big climax where the characters met in Antartica or something and multiple things could happen. I also always liked the idea of a prequel, showing their adventures before everything happened. But Dave Gibbons said it is what it is and they're not going to add to the original story. They could do a book that's just everything Rorschach wrote including things not in the comics.
I could see a sequel...and this is off the top of my head, no major plotline or anything...the journal is printed in the paper and the war is back on so Dr.Manhattan comes back to prevent it and Ozymandias turns into kind of the depressing retired hero because he failed at world peice. So now Silk Spectre 2 Nite Owl 2 and Dr.Manhattan have to find a way to stop the war and from your idea of Seymour being Rorschach's son they stumble upon him and he is Rorschachs son but instead of helping out...
they will make a sequel and everybody will know what ozymandias did zack snyder is just saying they wont make a sequel because he wont be a part of it sucks for him im getting my popcorn and soda ready for watchmen 2
if they did make a sequel, they could do that ozy vs rorschasch and have another story line with that doesnt effect ozy and rorshach like have doctor manhattan in the universe he said he was going to.
No, it's not. They just got paid for the raping that WB is doing.
Though, I will admit that some of the rape is fun. The merchandise is a good by-product of it, and, though some is complete garbage, the action figures are quite good. Now, where the heck is my smilie button replica? They know that's all I want and they're keeping it from me!
Also, a sequel would only ruin the integrity of the book, as there would no be a concrete "canon" ending to the book. This canon ending would go against one of the things that makes Watchmen so great: the ambiguity of and ability to interpret the ending.
i see your point, and trust me i am the last person to want a watchmen sequel. it is good the way it is. it pisses me off that fox won that lawsuit to. now it is there property to rape.
DCompose, the movie only made money opening weekend from non-fans. Only the core fanbase kept it going after that, and the core fanbase would not pay to see Hollywood take a shit on Watchmen. If you think that Watchmen is sequel-able, you did not read the book more than once. Period.
well to be fair it can be sequel-able, but it would take a major writing talent of Shakespeare portions to pull that off without fucking up everything that is watchmen. be in mind the book and the movie left in sort of a cliffhanger, with Rorschach's journal possibly being discovered and all.
That's the whole point. The entire book is the interpretation of the reader, not handed to you on a silver platter. If DCompose had actually read the book through more than once or once actually thinking about what he was reading, this sequel business would sound just as ridiculous to him, too. But he didn't. So now all of the "fans" brought in by the movie have a ridiculous speculation to rally around.
i read the book, a lot more times then u have, probably, you pretentious jerk; and i understand that the Rorschach having a son plot may not work. but it is open for a sequal if a writer wants to have a huge challenge. that is all i said. maybe you should open your mind, jesus christ people like you are the reason good ideas never come about. maybe you should read the book asshole, see how do you like it.
I like it a lot more in this form than if it were to have some sequel like the latest crappy Hollywood movie. I was not directly attacking you, but questioning DCompose's theory. He has found no evidence to support his claims besides "They have red hair."
I have brown hair. Does that make me Matthew Perry's son? Uh...no.
I can pretty much guarantee that since the movie made money, they WILL make a sequel. Perhpas it will deal with the publication of Rorschach's diary and the hate it will cause amongst the world vs the heroes once it's revealed and they had been lied to.
Therefore he wouldnt have sex-didnt write that bit before. so its just Nite owl left when you think about it they could do a flashback of something they did when they were together though
pretty damn creative dcom, too me it would be totally out of character if rorshach to have a son. Rorshach belives too much in being strict and touh personality even towards women. and i think the graphic novel should be left alone.
no way r they gonna make a number 2. watchmen is an amazin graphic novel and pretty gd film. It would be kinda tryin to make a legend an even more legend which is impossible. rorsach would never have a son. there were never women in a love life anyway. no they shouldnt make a secong and i would be really really dissapointed if they did
Just a thought: Does anyone here think that anyone would actually listen to Rorschach's Journal? From what we read, The New Frontiersman doesn't get many readers, and everyone hates masked vigilantes, Rorschach in particular.
Had Seymour published the journal's findings, they would be written off as overly conservative militaristic hype trying to overthrow the liberal peace that had been put forth by Ozymandias (though they don't know that). People would disregard.
I respect where you are coming from on this, and Watchmen 2 would be "cool", but here is why it would not work:
A.) Alan Moore would not write it/Zack Snyder wouldn't want to direct it for reasons stated in other comments/The movie wasn't reaslly that succesful.
B.) Watchmen is a masterpiece, and a sequel, in my opinion, would make the ending far less powerful.
C.) Rorschach is dead, so a lot of people who liked the book mainly for him would be disenchanted.
D.) Watchmen was good because of all of the backstory that was there and how it was presented. We know all the backstory that we really need to know, so a sequel would not have any.
Also, your belief that the reporter is Rorschach's son is disproved, by my observation, because of Rorschach's trauma thanks to his mother, so he would never have a child.
It doesn't leave it open for a sequel. It just implies the journal could start messing up the plan. And Rorschach is pronounced like the actual name Rorschach dude. And I don't think Rorschach was too interested in the ladies, too obsessive and psychotic. Nobody'd give a crap about a new Rorschach, they wouldn't know the first died in the middle of nowhere.
you fat stupid fag. learn how to pronounce the fucking names already. i love to watch you cause whenever i think how shitty my life is and how much i hate myself i watch you and get happy thaT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE BIGGER LOSERS THAN ME. by the way if you did even come close to knowing anything about watchmen you would know it was purposely designed not to have a sequel. that is why moore copied the characters cause you can't use them again. no sequel
I personally think that the world would find out about how Veidt killed all of the people for his grand scheme and then everything is reset back to how it was at the beginning of the book, where the world, once again, hates costumed adventurers. Except this time, there isn't anybody left to correct everything, since all the currently living Watchmen sided with Veidt.
I dont know if theres real proof that Rorschach is dead, Doctor Manhattan could of teleported him somewere. I sure hope that fat kid isnt replacing Rorschach. Although, I think if they were going to make a sequel, they would of done it by now.
Dude, Rorschach's pronounced Roar-Shack, not Raw-Shark. I know Joe and Steve (Detectives) heard that on the phone in chapter 5, but that's not the real way to say it.
The kid was just designed to look goofy. If Rorschach had a son (his apparent ugliness probably kept him from making one) Moore would have included more clues.
I agree that Seymour could be Rorschach's son but don't think there will (or should be) a sequel just because i think adding on to this book would water it down making it corny and not awesome (robocop movies). i think that hint was put in the book (like many other things) to start arguments and leave a shroud of mystery over part of the story which is part of why i loved this book so much... by the way its 1:49 in the morning, i started at 7 and finished the last 4 chapters half an hour ago
there was a girl named emily ive argued alot with my father and oine day my dad came home pissed because he lost his job and he stabbed me in the neck then threw me in a well now im trying to haunt him but i cant find him so im hoping u can help me find him post this onto 10 videos or ill be waiting at the edge of your bed waiting until u go to sleep...a kid thought this was dumb but the next day his parents found there son dead in the bathtub with the neck slit open drowned... sorry guys
this is a interesting observation, i mean, alot of stuff in watchmen takes more than 1 read through to find. like call me stupid if you want, but i never made any connections between rorschach and the man with the "the end is nigh" poster until my 3rd read. as for a sequel i kind of agree. they left it ambiguous and up to the reader to decide if there would be another chapter after the minutemen and crime busters era.
Dont worry about not catching it. Took me a while to realize that the newspaper on Veidt's desk had the headline stating something about "Nuclear Doomsday Clock Stands Five To Twelve Warn Experts" in the first chapter. In chapter twelve the impact of the horrible event was shown to be One minute to Twelve. Read into it how you like, but I'd like to think of it as Veidt's plan 'working' in just the nick of time.
After watching this... I'm just baffled at your idea and the fact that some people posted that it was a good idea. Taking one of the most complex and mature superhero stories ever told and following it up with a story like that is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. No disrespect... but come on.
I never said they "should make watchmen 2" because I think it should never be done, I just wanted to ask if anyone else got the "impression" that there was more to Seymour then just some guy at the paper.
There is more to this character and not many people have picked up on it.
One of the things moore put into the story, was the insertion of visual and text "clues" as to rorshacks identity prior to the reveal in the later chapter. One of the many themes of the book is the "signs of the times" idea- and that generally people should be more awake and notice more around them- so you get the pun/hominym SEE - MORE Seymour. I'm sure this was intentional on moores part.
intersting on your 101 class of the watchmen i went out & bought the hard cover book think it was 75 at barnes & nobles with extra content at the back of the book i glanced through it but good theory you have there looking foward to more awards you have there freind
Nice vid Kev. I think your idea is good but personally I would not like a Watchmen sequel, the comic was a one shot and it should stay that way. Infact I am not to happy with what I have seen so far of the movie and now Warner Bros want to do a prequel and sequel to Watchmen its just crazy.
So far Watchmen looks amazing from the info that's been given, They probably will do a 2nd one eventually especially if it sells enough which it will like all movies.
Just because Seymour has red hair doesn't make him his son. I never was under that impression. And a sequel with that basis would seem like they were jumping the shark. And Seymour, though a good character, would be a terrible Rorschach. Besides, Nite Owl, Silver Specter and Dr.Manhattan all agreed to Ozymandias' world, so they would never start fighting against him again after what happened. What happens after the story is over is that the journal gets published and people learn the truth.
Interesting concept, but I think it might be a bit too unrealistic to think that Roschach had a son that worked there. It could be, but I kinda doubt it.
That would be cool. About Rorschach having a son, it's possible but I never really viewed Rorschach as being sexually active. Ever since he saw his mother for what she really was, the idea of sex kinda disgusted him, at least in my opinion. I would love to see a Watchmen 2, though.
interesting theory :). Not sure if I'm too into the idea of a sequel actually being written though. Unless it's done by Alan Moore but that's kinda unlikely. But yeah, the son of Rorschach? I kinda had him down as kinda Asexual and all that. Maybe a little brother or something? lol. Anyhow, I like Imcool12345's idea of a prequel miniseries based on the old adventures of Nite Owl and Rorschach. That'd be sweet. We could see Rorschach drop captain carnage down an elevator shaft!! :D
I don't think it's even possible to top Watchmen 1. Watchmen 2 would be so hyped up it just could not meet everyone's expectations. Can't wait to see those Dcompose awards!
Have an awesome 2009 and also IMHO there shouldn't be a Watchmen 2,it's not necessary plus this happened to Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns,it got a sequel the idea was great but then "Dark Knight Strikes Again" ended up being a complete and total failure...
so Watchmen 2? I Don't Think so it's not necessary
I like the idea of Rorschach having a son but I figured he was asexual because of his mother being a prostitute and I figured that scarred him some how.
Also they should have made a mini series based on the old days with Nite Owl and Rorschach
I always thought the idea of sequels was a bad idea...unless they are planned to exist. Watchmen was never planned to continue past that ending, and writing anything more after that would be forced (in other words, unrealistic and plain bad).
The ending of Watchmen was perfect as it is, and meant to get us thinking about the possibilities. The theme of the comic was expressed as well: conflict will never end, and life will continue on, just like a watch.
Rorschach sent his journal to there was because they were considered a radical newspaper. In the dossier that is in the special reprint edition of Watchmen, it explains this and MANY other things. Very in depth
i always thought the same thing, but i quickly shot it down cuz it seemed like too much of a stretch based on what we know of the guy. but then as the rest of the book shows what you think and what you have been told isnt always exactly what is lol so its entirely possible that he is his son. although i dont think its enough to go on for a sequel, even though that would be awesome
I don't know. Maybe he wrote it like that purposely so it would have been like one of those books where you could twist it and turn it to create your own ending/conclusion.
Great theory, but it's flawed because of the fact that Rorschach had some deep issues with the ladies. I don't see him having a son at all. He's probably still a virgin if anything.
I don't think there was ever meant to be a sequel, I think it was a an open, ambiguous ending to be interpreted by however the reader may chose. It leaves the future of story open to the readers imagination.
I don't think Rorschach ever had sex given his past and childhood. He has always been too unstable.
I think perhaps you've looked into the story a bit too much, lol, which isnt a bad thing, its just I dont think it goes as deep as you think it might.
Oh and when I said "I don't think it goes as deep as you think it might", I meant that directed towards the part of the story you were talking about; Rorschach's possible offspring.
The rest of Watchmen itself IS a 'deep', meaningful read with lots of hidden meaning.
Rorschach had issues with women & sex and even disliked women's clothing in the comic if you recall, I don't think we are talking about a father figure.
hell yeah buddy, and ive seen some great ones. Marvels doin ok, Transformers are doin great... but the Masters of the universe classics line kicks so much ass. Its all up to you kev, your thoughts?
I had that same supposition about seymour. Although i think a watchman 2 would be missing the point of the watchman, it's a one shot comic that still receives praise after all these years. I would like to ask one think, what do you think of the movie's supposed new ending (No Squid).
Messiah Complex For Top Comic! I dont think that kid is Rorschach's son. I dont think Rorschach every had sex. I mean the idea isnt bad but its not probable. Besides after 20 years there no way Alan Moore is gonna make another watchmen. The odds of JFK raising from the dead and causing an epidemic of zombies is better than that. Oh and HAPPY NEW YEARS! 09 is gonna bring us some great shit.

Zack Snyder has said that there won't be another watchmen movie in respect for Alan Moore

It doesn't leave it open for a sequel. It just implies the journal could start messing up the plan. And Rorschach is pronounced like the actual name Rorschach dude. And I don't think Rorschach was too interested in the ladies, too obsessive and psychotic. Nobody'd give a crap about a new Rorschach, they wouldn't know the first died in the middle of nowhere.

needwork70 2 years ago
I personally think that the world would find out about how Veidt killed all of the people for his grand scheme and then everything is reset back to how it was at the beginning of the book, where the world, once again, hates costumed adventurers. Except this time, there isn't anybody left to correct everything, since all the currently living Watchmen sided with Veidt.
A sort of pessimistic take on the ending, really.
SymbiSpidey 2 years ago
Eh, "sided" with him is a little misleading. If the plan failed some other way than them telling, it's not like they'd fight to maintain the lie.
snillocnoremac 2 years ago
I dont know if theres real proof that Rorschach is dead, Doctor Manhattan could of teleported him somewere. I sure hope that fat kid isnt replacing Rorschach. Although, I think if they were going to make a sequel, they would of done it by now.

Dude, Rorschach's pronounced Roar-Shack, not Raw-Shark. I know Joe and Steve (Detectives) heard that on the phone in chapter 5, but that's not the real way to say it.
FrankRabbit600 3 years ago
there's alot of debate but there are three ways to pronounce it roar shock roar shack and raw shark but in the movie there calling him roar shack

The kid was just designed to look goofy. If Rorschach had a son (his apparent ugliness probably kept him from making one) Moore would have included more clues.

I agree that Seymour could be Rorschach's son but don't think there will (or should be) a sequel just because i think adding on to this book would water it down making it corny and not awesome (robocop movies). i think that hint was put in the book (like many other things) to start arguments and leave a shroud of mystery over part of the story which is part of why i loved this book so much... by the way its 1:49 in the morning, i started at 7 and finished the last 4 chapters half an hour ago

person3429 3 years ago
this is a interesting observation, i mean, alot of stuff in watchmen takes more than 1 read through to find. like call me stupid if you want, but i never made any connections between rorschach and the man with the "the end is nigh" poster until my 3rd read. as for a sequel i kind of agree. they left it ambiguous and up to the reader to decide if there would be another chapter after the minutemen and crime busters era.
Parhell 3 years ago
Dont worry about not catching it. Took me a while to realize that the newspaper on Veidt's desk had the headline stating something about "Nuclear Doomsday Clock Stands Five To Twelve Warn Experts" in the first chapter. In chapter twelve the impact of the horrible event was shown to be One minute to Twelve. Read into it how you like, but I'd like to think of it as Veidt's plan 'working' in just the nick of time.

MarvelWatcher 3 years ago 3
I never said they "should make watchmen 2" because I think it should never be done, I just wanted to ask if anyone else got the "impression" that there was more to Seymour then just some guy at the paper.
DCompose 3 years ago
There is more to this character and not many people have picked up on it.
One of the things moore put into the story, was the insertion of visual and text "clues" as to rorshacks identity prior to the reveal in the later chapter. One of the many themes of the book is the "signs of the times" idea- and that generally people should be more awake and notice more around them- so you get the pun/hominym SEE - MORE Seymour. I'm sure this was intentional on moores part.

98thSh4d0w 3 years ago
Just because Seymour has red hair doesn't make him his son. I never was under that impression. And a sequel with that basis would seem like they were jumping the shark. And Seymour, though a good character, would be a terrible Rorschach. Besides, Nite Owl, Silver Specter and Dr.Manhattan all agreed to Ozymandias' world, so they would never start fighting against him again after what happened. What happens after the story is over is that the journal gets published and people learn the truth.

Ror-Shack
It's pronounced like that.
Interesting concept, but I think it might be a bit too unrealistic to think that Roschach had a son that worked there. It could be, but I kinda doubt it.
MetakDarr 3 years ago
The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Shouldn't that make everyone say, "You know what? Maybe Watchmen shouldn't have a sequel."
angeltosome 3 years ago
It's pronounced "Roarshack" not "Rawshark". Also, could you seriously imagine him being with a woman?
scarryterry 3 years ago

I Don't Think so it's not necessary
calicoboricua83 3 years ago
Intresting observations, but I seriously doubt that Rorshack would have a kid. Just an opinion.
greenarrow07 3 years ago
I like the idea of Rorschach having a son but I figured he was asexual because of his mother being a prostitute and I figured that scarred him some how.
Also they should have made a mini series based on the old days with Nite Owl and Rorschach
Imcool12345 3 years ago
i honestly dont want a sequel cuz this book was amazing and a sequel might ruin it
specgoten31 3 years ago
I always thought the idea of sequels was a bad idea...unless they are planned to exist. Watchmen was never planned to continue past that ending, and writing anything more after that would be forced (in other words, unrealistic and plain bad).
The ending of Watchmen was perfect as it is, and meant to get us thinking about the possibilities. The theme of the comic was expressed as well: conflict will never end, and life will continue on, just like a watch.
JoeSomebody2 3 years ago

i always thought the same thing, but i quickly shot it down cuz it seemed like too much of a stretch based on what we know of the guy. but then as the rest of the book shows what you think and what you have been told isnt always exactly what is lol so its entirely possible that he is his son. although i dont think its enough to go on for a sequel, even though that would be awesome
maddness13 3 years ago
I don't know. Maybe he wrote it like that purposely so it would have been like one of those books where you could twist it and turn it to create your own ending/conclusion.
agorillae 3 years ago
Great theory, but it's flawed because of the fact that Rorschach had some deep issues with the ladies. I don't see him having a son at all. He's probably still a virgin if anything.

maybe his issues started when the kid was conceived.

Nonetheless, its an 'epic' read.
WeeklyComicReview 3 years ago
Oh and when I said "I don't think it goes as deep as you think it might", I meant that directed towards the part of the story you were talking about; Rorschach's possible offspring.
The rest of Watchmen itself IS a 'deep', meaningful read with lots of hidden meaning.
Just thought Id clear that up.
