It was then outcasted when GRAW came out. Sad story about GR2. the Multiplayer was pretty fun though.
Heck, I'd like to see them make mega maps for the original. I'm talking whole cities with multiple objectives. The game is older and it wouldn't need that much to power it.

I love both games but I prefer GR2, especially online. The real travesty was the PS2 version of Ghost recon2, horrible graphics, map design and all this was worse online.

Ghost Recon 1 And Island Thunder are bad ass. The whole reason it was awesome was because you could choose different characters and play each one and/or plan where they go. It was strategic and fun. The GR games now are trying to compete with all the other FPS games giving you health upgrades and other bull crap. BRING BACK the old style of play, that's what the true fans want to play, I still play the 1st one and I.T. but I would love to have a modern, upgraded one on a 360 or PS3.
@Jimbo082 it's happening to many games mainly because the success of Call Of Duty. I admit I really enjoy the Call Of Duty series. I even have all Call of Duty games. But how dumb can the developers be by thinking that if they make a copy of CoD and put their own name on it that they will have CoD profits..A couple of games ruined like that are for example Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Operation Flashpoint...so on...it's sad to see our favourite games ruined like that.
I really hate how these once tactical games are slowly turned into these piles of bile by the more mainstream crowd. GR 2 was good but after that more and more people started to play GR and they were like "wtf I died in one shot, hax!". So now the GRAW games are all basically nothing more that Third person shooters that really require no tactical thinking whatsoever and have very limited squad commands. I prefer ghost recon 1 its funner the only problem i had with it is that you cant spawn in 2 player coop and theres no defend in coop. but i own both of them
the AI in ghost recon 2 are too smart, they know right were you are even through bushes and cover, in ghost recon 1 you could sneek up on them and it gave it a more stealthy feel that i loved, also your squad in GR 1 were smarter and i like how the levels were not so directed, but in the end i love both.
i remember when i was young, i was EXTREMELY frightened to play the game but still i continued playing. but bcoz i got studies to focus on, i forgot about it. years later, my bro downloaded a PSP game (GRAW2) and it totally sucks coz i managed to finish it in a few days. last time, it took more than a month to finish a few missions. i totally agree with u all that said GR1 rocks and the rest sucks.

Yeah...good ol' Ghost Recon 1. I remember just picking it out from off the shelf because it looked good. I hated it at first simply because I was young and wasn't used to the tactical/stealth elements, but once I got the hang of it I played all the time. Loved ambushing and picking off enemies from a distance.

i was a big fan of the GR franchise, until the GR2 came out. i bought it immidietly and was very disapointed from it. the only thing true said here is the graphics of GR2. it made think twice befor getting GRAW2. GR2 was and still is an shity game, i never touched it again after i finished it.
When I started playing GR back in 03, I was outright impressed with the system and had high hopes that GR2 would have the volume turned way up. I may have the rather mediocre PS2 version of GR, GR:JS, and GR2, but that didn't stop me from playing. I even liked the NK setting of GR2, but when the first trailer came...I wasnt that impressed - fuck, I'm stuck on GR2's last stage because the AI was too hard.
Ghost Recon was better in the tactical sense, I got stuck a few times on Ghost Recon 2 cause my teammates died and I didn't demo charges and stuff. They didn't end the mission when that happened.
Yes, the list of challenges that they give you make it really hard to fully complete the game, which always make it a challenge. But there is not a real variety to the weapons' damages, reticules, iron sights, etc. Its still a fun game.
Yes, it's a good game. But you should get Graw2 for 360, it's only $19 bucks, and a masive improvement that in my opinion beats Cod4 into a bloody pulp!
This was so much better than the first one, don't listen to MANofINACTION, he probaly owns the PS2 version which did suck it hard. the Xbox version is awesome online and off.

GR 2 was good but after that more and more people started to play GR and they were like "wtf I died in one shot, hax!". So now the GRAW games are all basically nothing more that Third person shooters that really require no tactical thinking whatsoever and have very limited squad commands. Sorry for the rant, but Im just saying these new games are dumbed down WAY to much

Uh, retarded squad A.I. doesn't make the game as good as they could have been. Ghost Recon 2 was utter shit because of that fact alone.

I prefer ghost recon 1 its funner the only problem i had with it is that you cant spawn in 2 player coop and theres no defend in coop. but i own both of them

the AI in ghost recon 2 are too smart, they know right were you are even through bushes and cover, in ghost recon 1 you could sneek up on them and it gave it a more stealthy feel that i loved, also your squad in GR 1 were smarter and i like how the levels were not so directed, but in the end i love both.

i remember when i was young, i was EXTREMELY frightened to play the game but still i continued playing. but bcoz i got studies to focus on, i forgot about it. years later, my bro downloaded a PSP game (GRAW2) and it totally sucks coz i managed to finish it in a few days. last time, it took more than a month to finish a few missions. i totally agree with u all that said GR1 rocks and the rest sucks.

Looks isn't everything.
GR1 might not pass for good compared to the looks of current day games, but it deffo had superior playability and solid story lines.
I am totally missing that in the majority of todays games.

Yeah...good ol' Ghost Recon 1. I remember just picking it out from off the shelf because it looked good. I hated it at first simply because I was young and wasn't used to the tactical/stealth elements, but once I got the hang of it I played all the time. Loved ambushing and picking off enemies from a distance.

i was a big fan of the GR franchise, until the GR2 came out. i bought it immidietly and was very disapointed from it. the only thing true said here is the graphics of GR2. it made think twice befor getting GRAW2. GR2 was and still is an shity game, i never touched it again after i finished it.

When I started playing GR back in 03, I was outright impressed with the system and had high hopes that GR2 would have the volume turned way up. I may have the rather mediocre PS2 version of GR, GR:JS, and GR2, but that didn't stop me from playing. I even liked the NK setting of GR2, but when the first trailer came...I wasnt that impressed - fuck, I'm stuck on GR2's last stage because the AI was too hard.

Ghost Recon was better in the tactical sense, I got stuck a few times on Ghost Recon 2 cause my teammates died and I didn't demo charges and stuff. They didn't end the mission when that happened.

Yes, the list of challenges that they give you make it really hard to fully complete the game, which always make it a challenge. But there is not a real variety to the weapons' damages, reticules, iron sights, etc. Its still a fun game.

Yes, it's a good game. But you should get Graw2 for 360, it's only $19 bucks, and a masive improvement that in my opinion beats Cod4 into a bloody pulp!
