Most of their music is all still punk/rock, but they're still allowed to do different types. Just because they don't do strictly one type of music doesn't mean they're no longer what they used to be. And I think most people would agree that that makes them better than the Clash.

Here's what I think, Green Day puts on a great punk rock live show, but the albums are more in the middle of pop punk and punk rock. Not as poppy as Simple Plan and Fall out Boy, but not the pure punk as the pistols and clash had. But as a live band, they're pretty punk.

I don't like the way it is but that's how it is, green day had loads of record offerings in their early days, and turned all of them down for 3 months (or years not sure) because they knew that they would be classed as sellouts and rejected by the punk community

@cpj93070 So they've had one or two pop hits, it doesn't change the kind of band they are. It just means they're musically diverse and can do ALL types of music. They're still punk. Most of their music is all still punk/rock, but they're still allowed to do different types. Just because they don't do strictly one type of music doesn't mean they're no longer what they used to be. And I think most people would agree that that makes them better than the Clash.

Here's what I think, Green Day puts on a great punk rock live show, but the albums are more in the middle of pop punk and punk rock. Not as poppy as Simple Plan and Fall out Boy, but not the pure punk as the pistols and clash had. But as a live band, they're pretty punk.

Look im not trying to say greenday sucks, i just don't listen to them, i heard their old stuff and new stuff, and it is not punk, if anything it is pop-punk, contrary to belief they are not sell outs but they are not punk , i know punk, and punk is not just a sound, "oh they sound punk, so they are punk", no punk is not only music , it is a culture, a way of thinking, not just about having mohawks either, and once you over step the bounds musically or idealistically, you are not punk, got it?
