this is correct.....i think this is an open method that is being use by the surgeon at OR.....only the suhrgeon do this i think......RN are not allowed to do this but it depends on the hospital guidelines
Wrong!! i would fail my RCVS nursing exam if i did this, you have to keep the thumb of the first hand under the folded over bit (like in the closed gloving video) until you've gloved the second hand, also the gloves should cover the whole cuff of the gown
are you kidding this is poor technique, first of all the cuffs are exposed which are considered non sterile, and should be covered by the glove. 2nd she just contaminated her mayo stand or the sterile area she just gloved on, thats why if you contaminated both gloves you have to open glove on a nonsterile area. 3rd i hope she doesnt take that long during a surgery to glove.
this is a correct open gloving tecnique..i don't understand why some people think it's wrong..i always cover my gloves on my cuffs about 4 cm long. just to make sure that when i work, no contagious blood or any hazardouz things will touch my fragile skin.
This is open gloving, its different from closed gloving which I think is what you're thinking of. Either way, her cuffs kept rolling onto her skin and then she would touch the part of the glove that touched her skin with her sterile glove! ERGH!
@motojanga lololol, you need to read and find out what "open gloving" means, you're taling about "closed gloving" , when the tech starts the case.
this would be used if there was a break in one of the glovs or sterility was broken for any reason, and the glove must be changed during the operation this is how it would be done once you have already gloved.
She didn't get the gloves over the cuffs! Terrible job. Epic Fail.

correct gloving, yet very poor technique (the cuffs barley made it over each other.

yeah, this is not anywhere close to proper sterile gloving (agree with Jasperware)
huckster107 3 years ago
Very very poor technique + gloves do not cover the cuff of the gown
