This hit totally changed all perceptions about Atwater, who become extremely feared, and Okoye, whos reputation was diminished because of this. The effects lived on much longer than the hit itself.

Fines or no, it was legal back then, and still a great hit. Kinda sad when players have to be careful about how hard they hit.
