Oh he does? That's wonderful! Do they normally survive? That's so sweet of your father to bring them home, and so sweet of you to take care of them!
We wanted to release Vivi once she got bigger, but it turned out her other leg had been broken and couldn't be fixed, so she stayed with us. I doubt she would make it in the outside world with that injured leg.
I fed Vivi with a simple porridge mix ~ just oat and water, and some wheat flower. Then I started to slowly add some seeds in it.
I was told to buy some baby parrot handfeeding mix, but I couldn't find it from any shops where I live! I know that would have been the best, but luckily the oat mix worked too.
it's so nice that you are taking such a good care of your precious little girl! she's very thankful that you are such a kindhearted and gentle person...... I love your wonderful pigeon! Thanks for sharing her with all of us!
oh my god!!!it;s so beautiful..!!and it;s quitae young here..I think!!Mine when he was really young ate from my hand!!:))ans its really sweet..I should put videos of mine too!!:D
Yeah, she's only about 3 weeks here, I had just found her! She's laying down because her leg was damaged ~ poor thing.. Aw, pigeon babies are so adorable, aren't they?!! Please, post some videos of your pigeon ~ would really love to see him!!! :)
really your pigeon was hurt in the leg whenb you found her??mine too..mine probably was in the back..because he coudn't walk at all..he tried though to walk with his wings but he coudn't..anyway thank God he's alright now..and he can fly and walk and everything!!:D:Dwhen I found mine he was probably two weeks..because he had less feathers than yours..
Oh, poor thing! Also mine walked with her wings in the beginning ~ it was horrible to watch, I was afraid she'd stay that way! But then slowly she started to walk ~ just a shame her other leg had grown into a wrong position... :( I'm so happy your bird recovered!!! I've read it happens a lot, when they fall down from the nest, they can either hurt they lower back or breaks a leg.. It's sad, and pigeons have such a hard life. :(
@XxBloomitsaxX god had nothing to do to heal that pigeon. It was all thanks to its natural recovery and immune system, and since it was very young its cells were able to reproduce and duplicate faster than an adult's, thus covering and replacing the damaged body part that was responsible for paralyzed legs.
@hesitation24 Yes, I agree! By the way, the leg wasn't paralyzed, but broken! Unfortunately it was too late to fix it, but she manages really well with her disability ~ 3 years now!
Haha, you're right!! She probably thought I was very silly trying to give her a new spoonful as often as I did ~ in the end of the day, she was just a little baby! :)
Yeah, they're fun to watch! And oh, two cats? LOL Maybe better to avoid birds then? Just in case! ;)
My sister has 2 cats though AND 2 birds ~ the cats watch them, but don't really care otherwise. The birds fly in another room without the cats, so it's all worked out ok.
Cats are AWESOME too! Ahhhh, just all animals are! :D My pigeon is a rescue and it had a damaged leg, so it never wanted to fly away! I tried to free it, but it decided to stay with me! Haha ;D It's a happy bird though. :)
Hey jo. :( something bad happened and i know you will feel sad. Well lets get straight to the problem, Yestarday i went to put food and water for the pigeons and i actually saw the female on one of the chicks. like it had its foot on the neck. She KILLED A CHICK :(
Yeah, I miss her being a baby! ;) How's the handfeeding going? I was a little scared at first, but it went ok in the end! Put up some vids of your birds soon, ok? That'd be awesome! :))
That was nice :)
