He didn't dislike women, he disliked love. Many crimes are committed out of passion, like many judgements on said men. He refused love so it wouldn't cloud his reason and deductive abilities.
I may sound like a know it all about him, but actually I just read "A Scandal in Bohemia" and all above was mentioned in the book and the study guides.
auugh...this is lovely! I ADORE this song, and have it on my ipod...I really think that Irene came like a bomb to Holmes and made him realize that not all women were stupid and helpless...!
Hehehe glad you enjoyed it!! I've fallen in love with Unspoken Love which i've been listening to most of this week and then thought to myself it just HAD to suit Scandal in Bohemia perfectly and so i spent much of last night making this video. Needed matchsticks to keep me awake in work today, but it was worth it i hope !! :) WB x
Aaaahh! Love it - though I am someone who is not necessarily into this special romantic pairing... but THIS vid is almost convincing... :-)) ***** and faves! By the way: Hey, who is the stunning singer??? (*loljustjoking*)
Well to quote Dr Watson in The Illustrious Client "It's a vexed question!!". I think there was chemistry there, but no more than that, Irene Adler did touch Holmes's heart though but it went no further than that. Perhaps ACD decided to leave it open to let the reader make their own minds up !! I love the song too, I've had it on my ipod all week ;) WB x
I agree with JBrettGroup and WirralBagpuss in these comments. I think Doyle described Holmes in terms of being fascinated with this woman but let the readers decide what Holmes felt inside.
Also, according to the book, in contradiction to the movie, they did not meet Irene Adler until after Watson was married
