  • I studied with Jimmy back in the early 70's. He was such a great influence on me. I never realized how much because It has been so long. I heard some of the players performing his etudes and heard him play again and realized I use those bi-tonal movements all the time in my arrangements. I began studying jazz after 20 years of playing classical and Flamenco. Jimmy was the perfect choice. My other teachers were Howard Heitmeyer, Rene Heredia, and Vince Macaluso. I have been playing 52 years.

    Lu,

I can hear Jimmy W in your playing but never knew it until now. Your phrasing is very influenced by him; as well as dynamics.

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • Jimmy Wyble. What a genius. Nice playing William!

  • Beautiful. Jimmy Wyble is a genius and this recording does him justice. Thank you for you interpretation.

  • Bravo! I've had the original copy of Mr. Wyble's book since the mid 1980s. Subsequently, my friend David Oakes from GIT authored an new, edited edition and recorded a great rendition of these Etudes as a companion CD. Highly recommended to everyone who wants to add more counterpoint to their jazz arrangements.

  • I agree, very well done!

  • Bravo William! very welldone. I'd love to find some of Jimmy's playing and/or arrangements of standards or popular tunes.
