Tom, I just discovered your wonderful channel...your great talent...on You'Tube, so I have subscribed. This is a wonderful performance of Charlie Louvin song. Thanks for sharing your talents!
I have always loved this great song by Texas writer, Robert S. Arnold. I had the privilege of meeting him, & hearing him sing this song in person, back in the 1980's. he was at the Albert E. Brumley, All Night Sing, in Springdale, Ark. He was a real class act... a great gentleman. Love your music. :-)
It's funny, I really like and seem to prefer your "Van sessions" better than I do some of your album recordings. You seem to play a little quicker ( which I like) and less reserved. So it was a little bit of a disappointment for me when I listened to some of the songs on the Tribute album. I guess I just got so use to hearing them the way you played them in your van. Anyways, loved and enjoyed this song you played. I'm a Big fan, so as long as you keep playing I'll keep listening.
i do play faster in real life. with the recordings, due to the band, everything is set to a click track so we can overdub if need be. it does create a bit of "stiffness" but saves in time/studio costs. Mostly, live isn't as concerning as recording. Also, you have to think of recordings as moments in time. That's how I played those songs at that time, in that moment. Recordings are simply a snapshot. Cool you like the van tunes!
