  • GOLLY!!!!

  • "I wanna dance to the mall"

That shoe sounds like a spoiled teenager.

  • Haha! I love it~~~~~~

  • Why is Grover wich is male putting on the show wich is female?

  • GADZOOKSETH!

  • "But shoe I cannot walk to the mall with only one shoe." "Twood be embarrissing!" Hahahahahahahaha! {:D

  • Hahahahahahahaha so good, glad these were from my childhood!

  • The course of shoe love never did run smooth...

  • Man, this video really takes me back. I loved this sketch as a kid!

  • "Methinks this is harder than methought!"

    "Hit-eth it!"

  • the writer were awesome on this show

  • lol Grovero sigh... I love the Monsterpiece Theatre stories :)

  • lol :52 Im gonna say that everytime I look for something...KEYs, KEYS, where for art thou KEYS!!! I cant driveth to the store without your cooperation

  • @CoreysOldLady LOl...but what i will say is ;'wherefore art thou.' does not mean where are you. it means 'why are you.' Common mistake but it gets my goat

  • @ladylayla12 I did not know that.....that makes a lot of sense, thanks!

  • hahaha, "okay-eth. let us dance-eth to the mall....Hit-eth-it!"

  • i walk alone!

  • OKAYETH

  • Thank you for posting the many Monsterpiece Theaters, jonnybirdzback...too much fun!

  • This is so funny I think I died.

  • unhand me grovero!

    lol!

  • OMG! I remember this! :)

  • @Villaingirl101 I remember it too! {:)

  • ROFL! This is fantastic!

  • Grovero said "Wherefore art thou shoe?", but wherefore does NOT mean where, it means WHY!

  • It refers to Romeo and Juliet: "Romeo, Romeo, wherefor art thou Romeo." Same writer, wrong play, still funny

  • Yes I know. But he said "Wherefore art thou shoe? Oh, there you are".

That implies that wherefore means 'where', but it does not!

  • @athull08 Hah, you're right. i had to repeat the line from Romeo and Juliet to make sure. :P

  • @MarshmallowEyes Exactly, because "Wherefore art thou Romeo" means 'why are you called Romeo', not 'where are you, Romeo'.

  • @athull08 Many people make that mistake!

  • anyone knows what's the intro music? sounds like handel...

  • its Sam Pottle.

  • To thine own self be shoe. XD

  • This is Sesame Street at its best. Just classic. Children learn about cooperation and indirectly learn about classic theater.

  • lol! parody version of "taming of the shrew"... my secondary school use william shakespear's pieces for literature..

  • Comment removed

  • the quotes just dont stop hey...'to thine own self be shoe' lol

  • HITETH IT!!!! XD

  • I know! That was so funny. I laughed so hard, I could barely see the screen through the tears. "Hiteth it!"

  • LOL William Shoespeare, famous podiatrist. Trust me.

  • I challenge all of you: examine an episode of Sesame Street, and compare it to an episode of any modern children's program. This becomes a very strong case for the cause of intellectual decline amongst the population.

  • @originalnerdgirl Since Elmo came on, yes - but not back in the 70's & 80's though.

  • Thank you for making me late, Maureen...

  • I stopped getting ready to leave, and will quite possibly miss my bus for this, Maureen. Totally worth it.

  • LOL Maureen Johnson.

  • exactly XD

    Thanks to MJ!!

  • Awesome skit.

I'm an adult now, and this stuff is better than 90% of the stuff that comes on TV today

  • unbelievably cool

  • i love the song that grover dances to....

  • And it's all thanks to you for posting this.

  • It was very nice for which the talking shoe decided to cooperate with Grover as of letting him wear it.

  • What a nice sketch!

  • "Fine, I shall be very carefuleth"

  • LOL their shakesperian is so funny

  • Yes indeed.

  • William Shoesphere, famous Podiatrist...catchy.

  • HITETH IT!

  • I love the New Yorker accent on the shoe combined with the fake Shakespearean English!!

  • I love the funky music at the end.

  • Yeah, me too! LOL

  • My mom always watched Masterpiece Theatre so I was very familiar with the theme, and Alastair Cooke. I thought it was hilarious that they did this but I now wonder how many kids got the joke.

  • Heh, heh, I just read Taming of the Shrew, but I think I like this better. I love their version of Shakespearean English: "Okay-eth" "Hiteth it!"

  • i just love it sooo much --thank you so much for posting this!

  • Okayeth, Hiteth it!

  • "you needed a foot and i needed a shoe"

    memories

  • "methinks this is harder than methought!" lol XD

  • The Taming of the shoe by William Shoespear,Famous podiatrist,Trust me(like he didnot want to explain.

    Classic

  • Music haha.

  • Seems like this is one of the last episodes of Monsterpiece Theater to use the Union Jack intro. That's the one I like the best.

  • It's posible, I suppose for which this could be the last sketches of Monsterpiece Theater to use the Union Jack Intro.

  • YES! My all-time favourite Monsterpiece Theater story

  • Mine too.

  • "Hitteth it!!"

  • I only wish they showed Grover with a lute cracked over his head...that was my favorite part of the play.

  • Oh my, this is my favorite Monsterpiece Theater clip. The shoe has a nice, sweet voice. Thank you for posting this.

  • "Hmm. Okayeth." Haha! Wonderful! And then Grover busts a sick dance move. Simply excellent.

  • I remember this one, with grover

  • I think it's cool

  • Hee hee heh hee haa heh Ooh shoe where art thou

  • How does he do this

  • THANK YOU!! =]

  • This must've been one of the first Monsterpiece Theaters without Alistair Cookie's pipe. What year is this from?

  • Dunno, but it's in a 1991 episode I have, so it's at least that far back.

"We proud to present 'The Taming of The Shoe.' By William Shoespeare. Famous podiatrist. Trust me." :)

  • If it's a 1991 episode, it probably had the 1991 opening theme and "Library" intro. This had the Union Jack intro, which was retired in Season 22.

  • Nope, it has the Union Jack.

I don't think the Union Jack opening was retired in Season 22---which would have been 1990-91. Season 24 (1992-93) seems more likely, since they changed a few other surface details that year (like the opening theme). And the episode in question is from the 1991-92 season, or Season 23.

  • I know people remember seeing the Library intro in Season 23. Maybe they alternated in using the opening sequences that season.

  • 1996 when i was little.

  • Actually it was 1995-1996 when they introduced the "Green Curtain" intro. Is there any other proof the "Library" intro did not debut until 1992? It'd make sense, with that new Calypso theme for the show and switching taping studios.

  • I think they used the "Library" opening during the Sesame Street Special in 1988

  • Actually the "library" intro was added to that special in 1994 for the home video release. They also re-shot Alistair Cookie's scenes as well, to edit out his pipe. That special originally had its Monsterpice skit using the Union Jack intro.

  • Ah; thanks for clearing that up

  • Why did they stop the library inro? That was the best ever!

  • Maybe to save time or something. The main reason they started the library intro back in 1992 was probably because of how they switched taping studios, and how they introduced that calypso intro for Sesame Street, the "dancing city" closing credits, and the new Super Grover intro

  • "OK, hitteth it!" *groans* Thank you and congratulations on your hundredth clip!

  • Cookie! I remember this!

  • Go Grover! That one is much better than the Disco sketch.

  • I happen to agree with you, man.

  • Thanks for posting this

  • Wow! 100 video posts already!LOL! Grover sounds hysterical talking shakespearian!

  • I'll say.
