I have a 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT (catback, k&n dropin, ztube, and lowering kit) ...... the other day I raced a speed3 (w/downpipe and full exhaust, upgraded intercooler and a bunch of other bolt-ons) and won by a few car lengths ..... so I don't understand how a 'lighter version of my car' looses in the same race ........ I guess I must know how to shift lol ;)
btw, I love how the speed3 look (only 2007-2009 tho, 2010+ is kind of ugly), I almost bought one instead of my G, but now I love my G ;)
i don't like to judge off of someone elses race, nobody knows who did what and you could easily hide upgrades from the camera. he could have messed up, or he could have been pushing it to the limit, we don't know, maybe their car had a problem, or it could be in perfect condition. i prefer to go and find out whats faster myself, but not by reading broschures and specs on the internet

You must be out your box if you think a Z only runs 14.9 stock. I have 03 touring edition with flush wheels(work varianza t-1) a sound system with 2 subwoofers and all ma spare tire and everything still in the car I mean basically added weight to the car no engine mods at all. Only exhaust (that has a leak) and my worst run ever in my car was 14.9. My best was 13.7 soo uhh untill you own a Z or have made multiple passes in one I wouldn't jump and say this is what this runs and that is

The 350Z was never a good bang for the buck car. Cool yes, but not very fast for what it is. When your average Cobalt SS, WRX, MS3 pulls on one its a sign its down in the horsepower department. I don't even race stock looking 350Zs in my MS3. Then again my car is not stock. Ive put about 3k in mods on her and she will keep up with my brothers 400hp CTS-V from a dig and pull it from a roll. Turbo Four > NA V6 when it comes to modability and bang for the buck.
I would have to disagree with your "best bang for the buck" statement. The 350z is the best bang for your buck sports car under $30k and that claim is backed by several reputable auto reviewers. "Not very fast"? What are you judging that on? 0-60? 1/4 mile? Or top speed?

2. You CAN buy a new 350z HR under 30K, I helped my son buy one back in 2008 for $25,500.

i dont get why everyone is surprised the speed3 beats him. You can gain 25hp to the tires and around 60 torque by just putting on an AEM cold air intake. Plus the speed 3 tranny is built to be power shifted, Mazda tells you to do that for the best times. Given the 350z should have beaten him at first from the 30mph pull since the psi in 1st and 2nd is restricted to reduce torque steer and to make it easier to launch.
@itszALDWiN it is Kind of wierd but if it is the 03-04 its understandable. They dont have a whole lot of top and the torque isnt there for low speed pulls. The Uprev and HR 350z's are different and I wont even bring the 370z up lol I have raped full bolt on + tuned MS3 and MS6's off the line and from rolls consistantly. But my 370z isnt stock either lol

The 350Z was never a good bang for the buck car. Cool yes, but not very fast for what it is. When your average Cobalt SS, WRX, MS3 pulls on one its a sign its down in the horsepower department. I don't even race stock looking 350Zs in my MS3. Then again my car is not stock. Ive put about 3k in mods on her and she will keep up with my brothers 400hp CTS-V from a dig and pull it from a roll. Turbo Four > NA V6 when it comes to modability and bang for the buck.

I would have to disagree with your "best bang for the buck" statement. The 350z is the best bang for your buck sports car under $30k and that claim is backed by several reputable auto reviewers. "Not very fast"? What are you judging that on? 0-60? 1/4 mile? Or top speed?

1. You seem to like the WRX, good for you so do I, it's a great car. All my numbers were on the "based" model of each vehicles. You came up with different numbers and I won't contest that since 1/4 miles times vary but your numbers are still higher than the 350z. N/A 350z HR are 13.2 sec, look it up buddy.
2. You CAN buy a new 350z HR under 30K, I helped my son buy one back in 2008 for $25,500.

What it is in its current state is a cheap ass car that is a blast to drive and embarrasses "true" sportcars. The new 5.0 follows this same guideline. Cheap and fast. Not everyone wants or cares for an "image" car like the 350z.

By far and away the 350z community is full of some of the worst car guys of any type of car community I have seen. Maybe its just my area but every 350z I have ran in an impromptu race and have beaten was driven by a sore loser. I like to talk to people about their cars win or lose and I cant count the amount of times they wont pull up next to me after losing or go out of their way to turn off or even roll up their window when they pull up. Its like a bunch of fucking babies.

No, what you said was the 350z was a "slow" car. What you don't understand is that each cars have their strength and neither the Mustang or the Z is faster (or slower) than the other. The Z is a track car with superior suspensions and control for turns and drifting. The Stang is a drag car with more torque and a fix axle. You keep comparing apples to oranges. Do high-fuel dragsters tell F1 drivers their cars are slow? No, they're faster on the tracks and dragsters are fast at the drag

@Zrated1985 The NEW 5.0 is no slouch in the corners. Car and Driver's lighting lap put the new Mustang GT at 3:08, while the Nismo 370z ran a 3:12, and the 350z track was a half second behind that. Interestingly enough the Mustang V6 ran the same time as the 350z track while the Cobalt SS was right behind at 3:13, but that's just FWD econo-box trash right?

I completely agree with you. The new stang GT is an excellent car. I was merely giving an example of the differences in cars and type of racing they are prime with. With enough HP, anything is possible. I never said the Cobalt SS was an econo car. It's like the SRT, a turbo Neon. These cars are very quick and designed for racing. Their bodies have been reinforced and suspension overhauled. Good talking with you.

i dont get why everyone is surprised the speed3 beats him. You can gain 25hp to the tires and around 60 torque by just putting on an AEM cold air intake. Plus the speed 3 tranny is built to be power shifted, Mazda tells you to do that for the best times. Given the 350z should have beaten him at first from the 30mph pull since the psi in 1st and 2nd is restricted to reduce torque steer and to make it easier to launch.

@itszALDWiN it is Kind of wierd but if it is the 03-04 its understandable. They dont have a whole lot of top and the torque isnt there for low speed pulls. The Uprev and HR 350z's are different and I wont even bring the 370z up lol I have raped full bolt on + tuned MS3 and MS6's off the line and from rolls consistantly. But my 370z isnt stock either lol

I wish i would have bought the 2010 grand sport over my 370z, those LS platforms are beasts!!
