hey man i got a 05 v6 and i wanted to turbocharge it for 4 grand..... but its an automatic so i want a 5 speed or a 6 speed that will hold up to the power... i found a 1997 cobra transmission that is a 5 speed and i was wondering if that would hold up to the power of 400 horsepower or if it will even fit... PLEASE RESPOND
@TheMarschmallow It will fit with an adapter if the bolt pattern is of the 97 is the same as a 2005+ 4.6 5 speed. Your auto would handle the power as is, just slap in a slightly higher stall and you're golden.
Then... 330 / 430 TQ.. I can only guess because I was only running 9.5-10 PSI. It was tuned @ 13.4 & put down 386/460. I was still running the stock T5 trans so didn't want to push my luck. Tune was good down low but timing was 10* @ peak torque and 13 past 6K. Probably saved my trans - at least until later in the year when I blew 3rd into shrapnel.
Check the latest dyno vid and track runs. BTD is a 12.17 @ 114. Best to date with a bad clock - no slip - using video time laps 11.94 @ 113.88
any stiffening of the chassis or suspension yet? you seem to squat quite a bit off the line, stiffer springs, shocks and better overall chassis stiffening would really help your E/Ts
Quite a bit different now. Anti squats on the lowest level, Koni adjustables on firm, and bias ply 27X10.5s. Enough squat to plant, and no hop. Check the latest two videos; the 2010 brawl and the last run of 2010. I'm launching off the neutral limiter (5500) with no hop and little spin. Best to date is a 12.17 @ 114.
@forced4motorsports very very nice, the best my old 6er had done was a 11.94 at milan raceway....these cars are very underrated, hopefully you break into the 11s this summer!
Thanks, This is an old one though. I've run a best of 12.1 with quite a few mid to low 12s on the way there. If I hadn't screwed up my burnouts and missed third on my last run of the season I probably would have managed a high 11.9X. I'm hoping to run the car a lot more than 4 times for the 2011 season.
Stock exhaust manifolds and a T3/TO4E .60 AR compressor and a .63 AR turbine. Stage 3 56 trim compressor wheel coupled together with a T3 center section. I'm running 13 PSI at the track now so I'm consistently sub 12.5s
@chickhot76 Fixed if you look at some of the other runs. I had old Lakewood 50/50s on the car and was using Drag Radials. I installed relocation brackets, Koni Adjustables and switched to a bias-ply tire. No more wheel hop and the 60's are down to consistent 1.7s. Still not as low as I'd like, but much better. I'm down to low 12s now, with a best of 12.21 @ 117.
The reason you are et'ing quicker with slower 60's is because that wheel spin you are having off the line is putting more load on the turbo making it spool quicker. If I were you I would look into a 2step. You could also juice it off the line to spool the turbo quicker...plus it will give you extra power out the hole.
btw...nice v6...I have an 03 that is procharged. I'm hoping to break into 7's in the 1/8th next season with a new cam,tq converter, and suspension mods.
ehh no thats not how it works , wheel spin does not load the turbo as much as not spinning, how ever spinning off the line will = more MPH then a dead hook just worse ET do to the motor not being bogged at all when spinning.
lol Yeah, I love Datsuns. I wanted one so bad when I was younger... a 210.
Run a single T3/TO4E .60 AR compressor .63 AR turbine. From the manifolds to the turbo is 2.5 inches. The down pipe to the Y under the car is 3 inches. The Y splits to 2.5 inch pipes & run half the length of the car . As dual as you can get with a single turbo.
Here's some crazy, I only managed a 12.86 with the 3650 trans last time out but had a major exhaust leak. My 1/8th... - 97 freakin MPH. Car has 11s in it.
Yeah, it's a manual transmission. TR3650 5 Speed. The turbo is a T3/TO4E hybrid. It's a .60 AR compressor with a stage 3 .56 trim wheel. The turbine is a .63 AR.
Oiler is my nic name not cause im a oiler fan ...even though they are my second fav ..i lived in edmonton for 3 years and seen alot of games .. I respect your knowledge on the turbo systems ...i dont know much about turbos ..i own a t bird sc supercharged and i also own a 2008 stang 4.0 that i wanna turbo ..im really interested in the sts system ..it mounts at the rear of the car .. so your a gal ? that s kick ass ...killer drivin !!
Oiler - As is Edmonton? Just curious because that is my fav team.
The turbo is a T3/TO4E hybrid. It's a .60 AR compressor with a stage 3 .56 trim wheel. The turbine is a .63 AR. I got lots of flack from people who had no idea how to read a compressor map much less size a turbo for a motor that this was too small, and it's not. The prototype system actually used a 50/63 and if I was not going to up the boost down the road I'd still have the smaller turbo on the car.
Powerful ass kicking turbo. A 3 pt torque box brace, panhard rod and G-trac, and 3 pt control arms to stop the hop would help a ton with the chassis control if you don't have them already.
I'm probably going to go with LCA relocation brackets and see how that goes. Just lowering the car fixed the problem when I was at 320HP. I don't want to make a bunch of changes if it's not necessary. I also have Lakewood 50/50s that are just not doing the job. Not sure what I'll replace them with, but likely D-Spec. Torque box bracing on the S-197 is not necessary. I also already have a panhard rod, but I'm not happy with the durability. I'm going to have a chromally one custom made.
Sweet. I drive a base V6 but am soon installing the chassis upgrades I mentioned, and according to Steeda torque box bracing is very important on the S197. It's the creek under you every time you let off the brake. Going to skip new shocks since it's rumored the 2010 V6 comes with GT suspension, plus I bought stiff Sport springs. Once I get all that installed, it's time to save for a turbo or way to make REAL power I can put to the ground.
lol - That thing is old and almost unused. I've only ever had one ticket and I fought it to a $15 non-moving violation because it wasn't me speeding. It was the 5 SUV's that passed me going 100 that the cop ignored in favor of the Mustang. :p
Thanks 'man!' I'm going to start putting my name in the title too. May be a bit weak because I don't like stickers, but some script on the car may work... lol
I had the car tuned for timing and WOT A/F on a dyno at Jannetty racing. I had the turbo system fabbed up by a friend in IL, but I was there every step of the way on design and finish work; boost controller, gauges, relocation of PCV lines, etc...
All the mods were installed by me except for the clutch. I don't like doing transmission stuff on jackstands. I usually don't have a helper.
Not bad for a girl, eh. :p
Now when I go built 4.0, I'm not doing the work. That's a little too much for me.

is this an 1/8th mile or 1/4?
geotrker91 1 year ago
@geotrker91
It's a quarter mile. 12's in the 8th would translate to 20 second quarter miles and the mile per hour would be in the 70-80s.
