WoW Owen, awseome christmas haul...loads of quality games. Cold Fear is really good & for 49p...a steal :) I'm actually after Xevious 3D G+ seen a couple on ebay, but not for 49p I've bought it for the PC Engine & hopefully can get the MSX version. Damn!! Fragile Dreams - Love that game, it's got a great story (I have a back up copy, but eventually want the original) from the same guys that developed Eternal Sonata...my daughter's favourite game. :) look forward to seeing the PS1 collection.
@1msx2go Cheers Richard, I think I must've been watching your last vid at the same time! haha Yeah, Cold Fear has surprised me, I wasn't expecting much because you don't hear too much about it but I've really enjoyed it so far. I got really lucky with Xevious, as a PS1 shooter I've had half an eye on it for a while but like yourself I've avoided ebays prices.
I'm a sucker for games with a storyline that look as good as Fragile Dreams, it's good to hear somebody else has enjoyed it.
AARRGGGHH! This didn't appear in my subs box :(. Thankfully Daz linked to it! Haha, that chicken is wicked lol! I love the inbetweeners movie, I lmao off when that geezer pinches the note for snorting near the end, well gross lol! I grabbed cold fear yesterday too, looks cool! SSV didn't get a PAL XBOX release, retrocollect has a full XBOX game database if you ever need to check stuff like that :). MK4 is cool, stand out buy from that lot for me! Nice pick ups mate :)
@ninjabearhug No worries mate, looks like YT likes taking the piss with my videos, I think it was happening to Pete a while back as well.
Good to hear somebody else like the Inbetweeners, it feels familiar, I've been on holidays like that back when I was a youngster. I sort of miss them! haha
Yeah, I've had a go on Cold Fear and it's pretty good, a bit like RE4, have you had a crack yet? I'm chuffed with MK4, I went back to score some more 49p games but they've cleared out already!
I bought Cold Fear not long ago. I agree it looks a lot like RE4 or The Thing.
Left4Dead is a fun game to play, watch out for the pukers! You should definitely try and get on XBL account and give it a go! I haven't heard you mention, how goes the progress with Dark Souls? I got Skyrim for Christmas (not much of an RPGer) and am really getting into it. I have probably played 20 hours or so. There is SO MUCH to the game.
@kdyer1968 And a Happy New Year to you too! I had a quick blast on Cold Fear yesterday and it certainly has an unrefined RE4 feel to it, I enjoyed it though and I like the setting of the moving ship. Playing L4D online as it was meant to be played is one of my New Years resolutions, this'll be my year! haha
I've only played a small way into Dark Souls so far. I wasn't happy with my character and I accidentally used my healing potions before the first encounter! So I started anew.....
@TGApuleius It's not too bad, there are smoother and better looking fighters around, and the sound feels a bit out of balance but it probably just needs tweaking a bit. It's got a nice roster of characters and the controls are nicely responsive, but it's got some minor annoyances such no names on the character select screen and no support for analogue controls! I prefer using Haohmaru in Capcom vs SNK 2 on the Xbox to this game but I'd say it was worth it if you can find it cheaply.
Just as funny as ever, scare old ladies haha. Audition is a great film, the end has me looking through my hands, can't take it. 49p is great, my local gamestation doesn't sell PS1 games anymore boo!. Haven't picked up cold fear yet, would at that price. Great pick ups
@kazxena Thanks Karen. I've noticed that I've mentioned one or two 'run ins' with the old dears in charity shops and I think that I need to explain that it's purely coincidence and that I'm not waging a concerted war! haha
I get lost at the end of Audition, I always lose track of what's what, just when I think I've got a grasp on it it's gone again, I have to agree it's a quality film though.
It looks like Gamest'n are doing the 49p games to finally clear their retro stock, boo indeed!
@CC10Gaming Is that why it's called Rock Man?! haha Yes, the timing was uncanny, I've got you to thank. I've seen people playing the game so I know that it's not unfair, but I'm thinking that I'll have to playing it like a shooter, memorising attack patterns and such.
@LeBossu77 It's called Rock Man because Inafune was a fan of rock music and built the game's soundtrack around that. That's also makes other characters names like Bass and Forte make more sense, since they're all in line with rock music elements.
@CC10Gaming Also yeah, MM is heavy on the memorization, especially for the first few games you play. Several design aspects tend to repeat throughout the series so getting used to them will make future games a bit easier to adapt to!
Love those magnetic puzzles, they're almost too entertaining for their own good. A nice set of gifts and your personal pickups were in good taste too! 49 pence is just an amazing price for a complete game, and good on you to take advantage of that deal!
PS the reason those magnets mess up hard drives is because a hard drive uses magnets to write data to the disk in a controlled way, and putting magnets nearby will change the layout of that data and pretty much corrupt the entire disk!
@CC10Gaming Indeed, it's such a small thing but it really draws you in, and I still haven't been able to master the cube! Some structures almost build themselves, I could whip up a tube in a manner of seconds, but when the little blighters decide not to play ball and start resisting.... Thanks for the warning by the way, I'll be extra careful from now on.
The 49p prices are a double edged sword, it means that they're clearing out their retro stock once and for all. Dark days indeed!
Surprised you'd never given any of the Crazy Taxi games a go although with that said i've only tried the first one on the Dreamcast. I do have the second on the Dreamcast and also own the XBOX version (Crazy Taxi 3) but not yet played either of those beasts.
Nice to see some more Wii action taking place - it's a system i've virtually ignored since getting it a few years ago and I do keep meaning to give it a proper go but get put off with the amount of poor 3rd party nonsense thats available.
@bluetonic78 I've got a feeling that I've played Crazy Taxi in the arcade but never on a home console, it's not that it's doesn't appeal to me but more that other games usually take precedent. I tend to avoid games with time limits as well, because that does my nut in so it does!
The Wii is a funny beast, it just doesn't aim for the middle ground with blockbuster FPSs and the like, it's either populist rubbish or interesting niche titles that fly under the radar, such as Muramasa.
@SeanSidious Good to hear somebody else likes it, it feels familiar so I was always going to enjoy it, they've got a lot of the details spot on. Yeah, I like it that they all pull in the end, ending on a downer wouldn't have been acceptable.
I could easily bought more of the 49p games but I would've got carried away and ended up under a mound of shite, that's never good. I might finally get myself an XBL account, join you lot on MW3 to get my harris whipped.
Nice beard Owzer. I'd like to think my current offering makes me look like one of the Gods of Olympus. But I actually look like a bin dipping transient. Similar to the sort one may find covered in soil and carrying the detritus of humanity in a shopping trolley
@lakepalmer One of those used to live at a bus stop near my house, he'd get quite territorial about his bench but he was quite a nice chap if you ever engaged him in conversation. As for my offering it's less of a beard and more of a case of me avoiding the hassle and inconvenience of shaving. And it's cold n'all, so it's just good sense, although I won't feel the benefit.
Wow at the end I thought Jimmy Saville had come back to life dressed as Santa !
Very nice lot of pickups . 49p is a great deal for those games , my cousin keeps getting me GAME vouchers for xmas .. but I always find 20 pounds doesn't go far in GAME. If I were to be in Gamestation however .. with 49p a game .. I would leave with a rather large bag :D .
Good to see you got Fragile dreams .. I have still yet to play it lol, but your right it does look good. Have you thought about getting a DS XL ?
@ibbotson22 Sorry, Santa left some photos on my phone before he left to go back home, I thought people should see what he gets up to.
It looks like the 49p games are to clear the retro gen. stuff once and for all, so we'll have Cash Con., charity shops, the odd indie shop or nothing for our retro fix. £20 would get you a healthy bag(s) full but what would the contents be like?!
I've thought about a DSi XL but I wanted a Lite to play GBA games on, I do have a GC Gameboy player though.
Wow, didn't know about the 49p thing, I'll have to pop down to my local and check out if anything is left!!! p.s Don't put that ball bearing thing too close to your watch because they can screw that up also!!
@theretrogamesnews I've been told that the dirt cheap prices in Gamestation are to clear out the retro stock once and for all! Makes sense I suppose but it'll only be replaced on the shelves by their next least popular items. I'd head down there asap if I were you, I'm going to have another look next week but I've got a feeling it might be slim pickens already.
Thanks for the ball bearing advice, that thing is mesmorising!
happy new year.... yep cash is king at xmas humbug.... lovely other gifts and chicken egg pleasure toy...:) completely agree with inbetweeners very kevin and perry but seems like i was there on the trip very familiar .... alone in the dark's great haven't the patience now but a classic .. gun i have for the PSP great but lonely feeling at times if that makes sense... no love for the melee aussie :( silver hate.....mega man great very hard....look forward to a beer story session.. Ads
@adfot1 Yep, Happy New Year mate. Money for Xmas is my default setting now I'm old, when you're a kid it's simpler, I don't even get socks nowadays. I've got an old aunt who sent me a telescope once, that was pretty cool.
I don't have a problem with The Inbetweeners ending well, ending on a downer wouldn't have cut it, we just have to go with that leap in credibility. Looks like it was filmed in Magaluf as well, that helps! BCM memories....
Great pickups bro, some real steals, gamestation are stopping taking in all retro apart from ps2, everythings going out at 49p & the stores have until the end of Jan to shift its stock, I assume anything left at the final part of Jan, early Feb will be going for 1p, either that or they burn it so get ready :) Apart from crack convertors & indie stores that about kills retro on the high street, a sad time :(
@craigsheree Yeah, Happy New Year Craig. I had a sneaking feeling that's what the dirt cheap prices were about, they're just after the shelf space although it'll only be replaced by their next least popular stock. 1p stock? I can imagine what will be left then,it might be good for snagging some replacement cases though. It'll be a sad state of affairs when it all goes, my nearest indie shops are miles away... unless I open one myself! haha Then it's crack con, charity shops or nowt.
@LeBossu77 There may be some good news though, one of my local cexs in Lincoln sells retro stuff, a guy there told me a head honcho asked about the retro section & if people do buy it, he basically said they are thinking about possibly doing it nationwide, problem is thinking & doing are 2 very different things, I'll ask again next time I'm in Lincoln as its been a few months since he mentioned it.
Good call on Inbetweeners, the quiet bar reminds me of a time in Blackpool.....
@craigsheree That's good to hear, I think when Gamestation have shifted their retro stock it'll definitely leave a gap in the market. My local CEX have a small pile of retro stock at the most, though that all went in the run up to Xmas. There was a pile of about 40 SNES games at one point though, but they never made it out on to the shop floor, they were in the booth that they have, behind the glass, then they were gone!
I can't agree more, I'm sure I've been to that bar before...
@Zephieish I think you're right there, that's what I've heard as well. That'll be a shit state of affairs, it'll be the lottery of charity shops and cash con., or carboots and ebay if you want a retro fix from now on. I'm guessing the money they make from the older gen. stuff isn't worth the shelf space. A few branches I know aren't doing PSP either, or they're stuck way at the back of the shop where the PS1 used to be, as you say.
@izaurralde Yeah, me too but we don't often get Samurai Shodown titles over here, I think V is the only title on the PS2 bar Anthology which didn't make it to the UK. There is a game on the PS1 but copies of that are like gold dust. I can remember having the MD game though, that was great. I've not got Arcana Heart but it's been tempting me, and I think it's come down in price recently as well.
Yeah, I know both of those titles have their flaws but I'm hoping I can look past them.
loving the chicken! 13 assassins is gd very brutal, always wanted 2 play cold fear, crazy taxi games r a lot of fun remember playing it on dreamcast at a friends house years ago along with virtua tennis, l4d in my top 5 games of all time, brilliant online def one of the best zombies games around!
@bedtime143 I think I've broken the chicken, the ball won't descend! It's a hellish situation though, bunged up for all eternity and there's nothing you can do about it!
I'm expecting great things from 13 Assassins, I've always like Miike's films, even The Happiness of the Katakuris which was just weird.
I'm really up for an online game of L4D, I hope the servers are still up. I think I'll sort myself out an XBL account just so I can play it.
my but used to make me play left4dead2 with him online and offline.... and we played that game a lot in 2010, today if i see that game being played i am reminded of the my friend bitching and complaining about me not helping him enough. always getting separated and dying... ugh. great chicken btw lol. and those zen magnets are amazing.
@roleplayerthegamer Doesn't the game tell you to 'stay together to survive'? haha I think a 4 player co-op game is just about the perfect format for a Zombie shooter, I know if I was in that situation I definitely wouldn't be lone gunning it! I've had a very short go on L4D2 before but that was on a bitch of a hang over so I had no idea what I was doing.
I think the magnets are an executive toy but it's wasted on them, the little blighters are a real mind bender!
@LeBossu77 lol, my friend is an asshole, i remember were at the end of the game but i wasn't getting to the heli fast enough but i was gonna make it. so then he tries to help and leaves the heli exactly as i got on finally (i was surrounded by zombies after all) and in that second he dies and the 3 of us escape w/o him and he went insane on me. blaming me for his mistake. after that i said im never playing it with him again. also survival multiplayer is a real bitch.
@LeBossu77 but when we played on hard mode or normal mode he would ditch me. i would be shooting zombies, suroun ded by them even and he would run off and the a.i. would follow him. then i would have to find them but that's when the jockey gets me every time. i absolutely hate that game b/c of my asshole friend.
@roleplayerthegamer I've heard people say that it's actually harder with four players than it is with just one, you can't rely on other people you see, where as the computer controlled characters stick to the job in hand and don't stitch you up like your friend did.
Nice new year update, mate! The PS1 game station price slash is that in the last week or so? Not sure if my local are being lazy..
Weird one with me and CEX over the past year... Ive found XII Stag on the website at three different stores on different occasions... Its NEVER THERE. Full on wind up.. and they continue to sit on the system and taunt me for a week or so. I refuse to pay eBay shmup prices if you can get it for this mythical 75p.
@JoeyPineapples Cheers mate. Yeah, I think they've cut the prices in the last few days, they were just stocking the shelves in the first branch I went to. I've heard it's to clear the retro stock once and for all, it'll be a shit state of affairs when there's one less place to look for older gen. stuff!
Yeah, CEX do that, things go 'missing'. I asked about a PS2 Hori arcade stick once and they had no idea. XII Stag might be disk only though, they keep them behind the counter.
I've never played the game before but the visuals look great for a PS1 title, better than the Resi. games. I like the idea of having two story lines to play through as well, it sounds like quite a different experience for each.
Gun looks good, on a par with the original Red Dead title, I'm looking forward to giving it a crack.
I thought a PS1 collection vid was on the cards, there are games I still want but nothing I want to pay £££s for
nice stuff i surprised you found some ps1 and Xbox games even ps2 at game station the one near me only have modern games and what Xbox,ps2 games they got are stuck in the corner at 5 for 10 quid . its hard when i trying to collect most ps1 games . i love to fine mortal kombat 4 for 49p
@timeteam1982 Yeah, it's a bit of a mixed bag near me as well, some branches have quite a big selection of older titles, others have nothing earlier than this gen., and some don't even have PSP games. I've been told that these prices are to shift the retro stock once and for all, so it'll be one less place to look for older gen. games!
@LeBossu77 theres no place in the wild now near me to get retro I trying to get most pal ps1 games and only lucky if I can find them at cash converters and they said they only going to now gen games . So I guess its try luck at charity shops and break my rules and try ebay .
@shenmueso No, I didn't either until Snestastic turned up with a copy a while back. I tried it on my '360 earlier but it wasn't compatible, it might just need a system update though. For now it'll be played on my old faithful original.
I've heard the 49p Gamestation titles are because they're trying to shift their retro stock, probably for good. It'll be a shitter if that's the case.
left 4 dead is 1 of the few games me and my patner play on line 2gether its so much fun, i get used as cannon foda all the time though :) get your self a dsi xl mate the screens r fantastic much better than the ds lite plus the lite doesn't have online or the dsi ware store.... thanks 4 the on fragile dreams that looks like my sort of game i love anime :)
@ToJo841 I've had a very quick go on L4D2 and it was great but the experience was marred by a shocker of a hang over. A 4 player co-op game seems like the ideal format for a Zombie shooter, and co-op's always going to be better than lone gunning it. I fully expect to be the weak link when I finally get round to having a game, just think of it as heroic sacrifice! haha
I wanted a Lite to play DS and GBA games on but I've already got a GC Gameboy player so a DSi XL may be the way to go.
Nice chicken mate! haha Excellent luck with the 49p games mate! I really hate reselling but only when it's done constantly or the only reason people get into retro gaming to make money, pisses me off something awful! What you did was fine really, gotta take opportunities like that when you see 'em :) Wish I had more luck finding GC titles haha! I had never even heard of fragile dreams but I'll keep an eye out! Beer story tag would be hilarious haha! Keep up the vids! Great cigar chomping Santa!
@iCrytex I think I've broken the poor little fella, his ball won't descend. I might have to do some surgery.
It sounds like the 49p games are because Gamestation are shifting out their retro stock, it'll be shit if that's the case! It's tough to ignore any game that's 49p, it makes sense to buy duplicates because I was able to buy other titles that I particularly wanted, and with Gamestations prices I only paid £9 for 14 games.
I might do the Beer Story tag, I'm not too sure yet! haha
nice fragile dreams, dude i played that and beat it in 2 days b/c the atmoshere and everything just kept me hooked. no game plus tho :( advice; use your strongest weapons at all times, always have backup weapons, always buy more weapons when the guy shows up, be extremely mindful of your inventory, beware of birds! bird groups can be a good way to get easy kills but only if you have projectiles; no slingshot/bow don't fight em. learn how to get easy exp, fight efficiently and effectively.
@xWiRuZu Nice one, it seems that people who like the game really like it, if that makes sense, I know it won't be for everyone though. I really like the set up, and the in game visuals and anime cut scenes look stunning, I'm looking forward to finally giving it a go.
Thanks for the tips, it sounds like you know your stuff. Are the weapons breakable? I didn't know that, it'll add an extra element to the gameplay. Birds are never good in video games, they're usually just an irritant!
@LeBossu77 oh yes weapons break lol, sometimes after the first use haha. always have them and also inventory. each weapon type takes up 2 - 4 blocks but wait, you have to arrange them in the bag so you can fit other things. if you have 2 blocks left but not side by side then you can't keep a 2 block item unless you arrange your bag. you can put things away at the bonfires and bonfires exist everywhere, seriously there are too many.
@xWiRuZu So it pays to be stocked up on weaponry? I'll keep that in mind, but breaking after one use is a bit harsh! haha It sounds like a survival horror angle to the gameplay but at least it'll keep me on my toes, it's the same with the inventory management. I don't mind having too many save points, I usually spam saves when I play RPGs to save having to repeat a section because that does my nut in! haha
@LeBossu77 lol, tho i never did have a weapon break after one use but i did have a weapon break after 3 uses. the worst was the flash bulb; i tried experimenting with the first of only 2 in the game and it broke on the first use! never mind seeing what it did, it broke right away... when i got the second i just ignored it maybe it offers some strategical advantage but i was so good at the combat and had high hp compared to Lp's on youtube. i liked the combat but i can do that.
@xWiRuZu There's always an item in RPGs that looks like it does nothing but turns out to be really handy, but only if you know how to use it and you only know that if you spend hours working out what it does. There's a friendship rune in Suikoden 2 that works with some hidden character stat and affinity between characters that looks like junk at first but yields powerful attacks if you can work out what it does.
@Snestastic Yeah, that's bloody freaky how thin he got, that can't be good can it. I'm sure there's a film knocking about where Matt Damon pulls the same trick. Insane.
Great stack there Owen, yep I got both Cold Fear and Crazy Taxi 3 :) You should get a Dreamcast with the original two games which are fantastic :) Sounds like Gamestation is great atm, gonna head down town next week and have a butchers, fingers crossed :)
@Snestastic Cheers Pete, I can't complain about any of the games considering what I spent. It worked out as £8.86 on 14 games, it looks like Gamestation are clearing out their older gen. stuff once and for all though. I'd get down there asap mate, you don't want to miss out to some vulture! haha I saw Point Blank, Contra and the 2nd SF Collection, all on the PS1, in the same offer. Yeah, I remember you buying Crazy Taxi 3, how did you find it?
@LeBossu77 Your gamestation sounds much better than mine then Owen, I rarely see any decent PS1 titles, usually the same old standard games with knackered cases lol. I got Crazy Taxi I think from one of the shops in town, it might have been MT Games but I can't remember tbh lol just saw it and snapped it up :)
@Snestastic My local branch hasn't had any new retro stuff for a while now, I bought these games from a couple of out of town branches. It sounds like these low prices are Gamestations way of clearing their retro stock for good. That'll be one less place to buy older gen. games then.
@MrMcoleman28 Cheers Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed the video mate. I've seen the 49p prices in three different branches now so I'm guessing it's across the board, it's definitely worth checking out. It's a good way to try out something different, when you enjoy a random bargain it makes it all the sweeter.
@indydaisy1 Yeah, that would be a hellish situation to find yourself in, I almost feel sorry for the poor little guy/girl. I think I've broken it as well, so it's in an even worse way than it was before!
@DeathMetalDom1994 Haha, it was the hood, they'll do that to a person, and they've got a bad rep nowadays! Someone ran away from me once when all I was doing was walking along the street with my hood up. What can you do! haha
Damn!!

Nice to see some more Wii action taking place - it's a system i've virtually ignored since getting it a few years ago and I do keep meaning to give it a proper go but get put off with the amount of poor 3rd party nonsense thats available.
bluetonic78 2 months ago
@bluetonic78 I've got a feeling that I've played Crazy Taxi in the arcade but never on a home console, it's not that it's doesn't appeal to me but more that other games usually take precedent. I tend to avoid games with time limits as well, because that does my nut in so it does!
The Wii is a funny beast, it just doesn't aim for the middle ground with blockbuster FPSs and the like, it's either populist rubbish or interesting niche titles that fly under the radar, such as Muramasa.
LeBossu77 1 month ago

Similar to the sort one may find covered in soil and carrying the detritus of humanity in a shopping trolley
lakepalmer 2 months ago
@lakepalmer One of those used to live at a bus stop near my house, he'd get quite territorial about his bench but he was quite a nice chap if you ever engaged him in conversation. As for my offering it's less of a beard and more of a case of me avoiding the hassle and inconvenience of shaving. And it's cold n'all, so it's just good sense, although I won't feel the benefit.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
Wow at the end I thought Jimmy Saville had come back to life dressed as Santa !
Very nice lot of pickups . 49p is a great deal for those games , my cousin keeps getting me GAME vouchers for xmas .. but I always find 20 pounds doesn't go far in GAME. If I were to be in Gamestation however .. with 49p a game .. I would leave with a rather large bag :D .
Good to see you got Fragile dreams .. I have still yet to play it lol, but your right it does look good. Have you thought about getting a DS XL ?
ibbotson22 2 months ago
@ibbotson22 Sorry, Santa left some photos on my phone before he left to go back home, I thought people should see what he gets up to.
It looks like the 49p games are to clear the retro gen. stuff once and for all, so we'll have Cash Con., charity shops, the odd indie shop or nothing for our retro fix. £20 would get you a healthy bag(s) full but what would the contents be like?!
I've thought about a DSi XL but I wanted a Lite to play GBA games on, I do have a GC Gameboy player though.

Wow, didn't know about the 49p thing, I'll have to pop down to my local and check out if anything is left!!! p.s Don't put that ball bearing thing too close to your watch because they can screw that up also!!
theretrogamesnews 2 months ago

LeBossu77 2 months ago
Happy new year :)
Great pickups bro, some real steals, gamestation are stopping taking in all retro apart from ps2, everythings going out at 49p & the stores have until the end of Jan to shift its stock, I assume anything left at the final part of Jan, early Feb will be going for 1p, either that or they burn it so get ready :) Apart from crack convertors & indie stores that about kills retro on the high street, a sad time :(
craigsheree 2 months ago
@craigsheree Yeah, Happy New Year Craig. I had a sneaking feeling that's what the dirt cheap prices were about, they're just after the shelf space although it'll only be replaced by their next least popular stock. 1p stock? I can imagine what will be left then,it might be good for snagging some replacement cases though. It'll be a sad state of affairs when it all goes, my nearest indie shops are miles away... unless I open one myself! haha Then it's crack con, charity shops or nowt.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 There may be some good news though, one of my local cexs in Lincoln sells retro stuff, a guy there told me a head honcho asked about the retro section & if people do buy it, he basically said they are thinking about possibly doing it nationwide, problem is thinking & doing are 2 very different things, I'll ask again next time I'm in Lincoln as its been a few months since he mentioned it.
Good call on Inbetweeners, the quiet bar reminds me of a time in Blackpool.....
craigsheree 2 months ago
@craigsheree That's good to hear, I think when Gamestation have shifted their retro stock it'll definitely leave a gap in the market. My local CEX have a small pile of retro stock at the most, though that all went in the run up to Xmas. There was a pile of about 40 SNES games at one point though, but they never made it out on to the shop floor, they were in the booth that they have, behind the glass, then they were gone!
I can't agree more, I'm sure I've been to that bar before...
LeBossu77 2 months ago
Great deal there for 49p
I'm a bit worried though as I think they may be discontinuing some of the retro console games just like GAME did.
I went into my local and all the PS1 titles were missing, replaced with PSP tosh! (No offence to PSP gamers)
Kinda sad really.. :(
Zephieish 2 months ago
@Zephieish I think you're right there, that's what I've heard as well. That'll be a shit state of affairs, it'll be the lottery of charity shops and cash con., or carboots and ebay if you want a retro fix from now on. I'm guessing the money they make from the older gen. stuff isn't worth the shelf space. A few branches I know aren't doing PSP either, or they're stuck way at the back of the shop where the PS1 used to be, as you say.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
i love the Samurai Shodown series, hopefully SS5 is fun if that's a keeper; do you have Arcana Heaert 3?
Infinite Space and Fragile Dreams look good, most anime-based games are hit-or-miss
thx for posting :}
izaurralde 2 months ago
@izaurralde Yeah, me too but we don't often get Samurai Shodown titles over here, I think V is the only title on the PS2 bar Anthology which didn't make it to the UK. There is a game on the PS1 but copies of that are like gold dust. I can remember having the MD game though, that was great. I've not got Arcana Heart but it's been tempting me, and I think it's come down in price recently as well.
Yeah, I know both of those titles have their flaws but I'm hoping I can look past them.

loving the chicken! 13 assassins is gd very brutal, always wanted 2 play cold fear, crazy taxi games r a lot of fun remember playing it on dreamcast at a friends house years ago along with virtua tennis, l4d in my top 5 games of all time, brilliant online def one of the best zombies games around!
bedtime143 2 months ago
@bedtime143 I think I've broken the chicken, the ball won't descend! It's a hellish situation though, bunged up for all eternity and there's nothing you can do about it!
I'm expecting great things from 13 Assassins, I've always like Miike's films, even The Happiness of the Katakuris which was just weird.
I'm really up for an online game of L4D, I hope the servers are still up. I think I'll sort myself out an XBL account just so I can play it.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
my but used to make me play left4dead2 with him online and offline.... and we played that game a lot in 2010, today if i see that game being played i am reminded of the my friend bitching and complaining about me not helping him enough. always getting separated and dying... ugh. great chicken btw lol. and those zen magnets are amazing.
roleplayerthegamer 2 months ago
@roleplayerthegamer Doesn't the game tell you to 'stay together to survive'? haha I think a 4 player co-op game is just about the perfect format for a Zombie shooter, I know if I was in that situation I definitely wouldn't be lone gunning it! I've had a very short go on L4D2 before but that was on a bitch of a hang over so I had no idea what I was doing.
I think the magnets are an executive toy but it's wasted on them, the little blighters are a real mind bender!
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 lol, my friend is an asshole, i remember were at the end of the game but i wasn't getting to the heli fast enough but i was gonna make it. so then he tries to help and leaves the heli exactly as i got on finally (i was surrounded by zombies after all) and in that second he dies and the 3 of us escape w/o him and he went insane on me. blaming me for his mistake. after that i said im never playing it with him again. also survival multiplayer is a real bitch.
roleplayerthegamer 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 but when we played on hard mode or normal mode he would ditch me. i would be shooting zombies, suroun ded by them even and he would run off and the a.i. would follow him. then i would have to find them but that's when the jockey gets me every time. i absolutely hate that game b/c of my asshole friend.
roleplayerthegamer 2 months ago
@roleplayerthegamer I've heard people say that it's actually harder with four players than it is with just one, you can't rely on other people you see, where as the computer controlled characters stick to the job in hand and don't stitch you up like your friend did.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
Nice new year update, mate! The PS1 game station price slash is that in the last week or so? Not sure if my local are being lazy..
Weird one with me and CEX over the past year... Ive found XII Stag on the website at three different stores on different occasions... Its NEVER THERE. Full on wind up.. and they continue to sit on the system and taunt me for a week or so. I refuse to pay eBay shmup prices if you can get it for this mythical 75p.
Players Choice just sounds like.... 80s snouts.
JoeyPineapples 2 months ago
@JoeyPineapples Cheers mate. Yeah, I think they've cut the prices in the last few days, they were just stocking the shelves in the first branch I went to. I've heard it's to clear the retro stock once and for all, it'll be a shit state of affairs when there's one less place to look for older gen. stuff!
Yeah, CEX do that, things go 'missing'. I asked about a PS2 Hori arcade stick once and they had no idea. XII Stag might be disk only though, they keep them behind the counter.

A PS1 game collection video sounds cool
Nice pickups mate
footloose20005 2 months ago
@footloose20005 Cheers dude.
I've never played the game before but the visuals look great for a PS1 title, better than the Resi. games. I like the idea of having two story lines to play through as well, it sounds like quite a different experience for each.
Gun looks good, on a par with the original Red Dead title, I'm looking forward to giving it a crack.
I thought a PS1 collection vid was on the cards, there are games I still want but nothing I want to pay £££s for
LeBossu77 2 months ago
nice stuff i surprised you found some ps1 and Xbox games even ps2 at game station the one near me only have modern games and what Xbox,ps2 games they got are stuck in the corner at 5 for 10 quid . its hard when i trying to collect most ps1 games . i love to fine mortal kombat 4 for 49p
timeteam1982 2 months ago
@timeteam1982 Yeah, it's a bit of a mixed bag near me as well, some branches have quite a big selection of older titles, others have nothing earlier than this gen., and some don't even have PSP games. I've been told that these prices are to shift the retro stock once and for all, so it'll be one less place to look for older gen. games!
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 theres no place in the wild now near me to get retro I trying to get most pal ps1 games and only lucky if I can find them at cash converters and they said they only going to now gen games . So I guess its try luck at charity shops and break my rules and try ebay .
timeteam1982 2 months ago
ooh! i didnt even know there WAS a crazy taxi 3! hope its compatible with 360..
cool haul there.. great deals, defo gonna have to get down gamestation
shenmueso 2 months ago
@shenmueso No, I didn't either until Snestastic turned up with a copy a while back. I tried it on my '360 earlier but it wasn't compatible, it might just need a system update though. For now it'll be played on my old faithful original.
I've heard the 49p Gamestation titles are because they're trying to shift their retro stock, probably for good. It'll be a shitter if that's the case.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
left 4 dead is 1 of the few games me and my patner play on line 2gether its so much fun, i get used as cannon foda all the time though :) get your self a dsi xl mate the screens r fantastic much better than the ds lite plus the lite doesn't have online or the dsi ware store.... thanks 4 the on fragile dreams that looks like my sort of game i love anime :)
ToJo841 2 months ago
@ToJo841 I've had a very quick go on L4D2 and it was great but the experience was marred by a shocker of a hang over. A 4 player co-op game seems like the ideal format for a Zombie shooter, and co-op's always going to be better than lone gunning it. I fully expect to be the weak link when I finally get round to having a game, just think of it as heroic sacrifice! haha
I wanted a Lite to play DS and GBA games on but I've already got a GC Gameboy player so a DSi XL may be the way to go.
LeBossu77 2 months ago
Nice chicken mate! haha Excellent luck with the 49p games mate! I really hate reselling but only when it's done constantly or the only reason people get into retro gaming to make money, pisses me off something awful! What you did was fine really, gotta take opportunities like that when you see 'em :) Wish I had more luck finding GC titles haha! I had never even heard of fragile dreams but I'll keep an eye out! Beer story tag would be hilarious haha! Keep up the vids! Great cigar chomping Santa!
iCrytex 2 months ago
@iCrytex I think I've broken the poor little fella, his ball won't descend. I might have to do some surgery.
It sounds like the 49p games are because Gamestation are shifting out their retro stock, it'll be shit if that's the case! It's tough to ignore any game that's 49p, it makes sense to buy duplicates because I was able to buy other titles that I particularly wanted, and with Gamestations prices I only paid £9 for 14 games.
I might do the Beer Story tag, I'm not too sure yet! haha
LeBossu77 2 months ago
nice fragile dreams, dude i played that and beat it in 2 days b/c the atmoshere and everything just kept me hooked. no game plus tho :( advice; use your strongest weapons at all times, always have backup weapons, always buy more weapons when the guy shows up, be extremely mindful of your inventory, beware of birds! bird groups can be a good way to get easy kills but only if you have projectiles; no slingshot/bow don't fight em. learn how to get easy exp, fight efficiently and effectively.
xWiRuZu 2 months ago
@xWiRuZu Nice one, it seems that people who like the game really like it, if that makes sense, I know it won't be for everyone though. I really like the set up, and the in game visuals and anime cut scenes look stunning, I'm looking forward to finally giving it a go.
Thanks for the tips, it sounds like you know your stuff. Are the weapons breakable? I didn't know that, it'll add an extra element to the gameplay. Birds are never good in video games, they're usually just an irritant!
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 oh yes weapons break lol, sometimes after the first use haha. always have them and also inventory. each weapon type takes up 2 - 4 blocks but wait, you have to arrange them in the bag so you can fit other things. if you have 2 blocks left but not side by side then you can't keep a 2 block item unless you arrange your bag. you can put things away at the bonfires and bonfires exist everywhere, seriously there are too many.
xWiRuZu 2 months ago
@xWiRuZu So it pays to be stocked up on weaponry? I'll keep that in mind, but breaking after one use is a bit harsh! haha It sounds like a survival horror angle to the gameplay but at least it'll keep me on my toes, it's the same with the inventory management. I don't mind having too many save points, I usually spam saves when I play RPGs to save having to repeat a section because that does my nut in! haha
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 lol, tho i never did have a weapon break after one use but i did have a weapon break after 3 uses. the worst was the flash bulb; i tried experimenting with the first of only 2 in the game and it broke on the first use! never mind seeing what it did, it broke right away... when i got the second i just ignored it maybe it offers some strategical advantage but i was so good at the combat and had high hp compared to Lp's on youtube. i liked the combat but i can do that.
xWiRuZu 2 months ago
@xWiRuZu There's always an item in RPGs that looks like it does nothing but turns out to be really handy, but only if you know how to use it and you only know that if you spend hours working out what it does. There's a friendship rune in Suikoden 2 that works with some hidden character stat and affinity between characters that looks like junk at first but yields powerful attacks if you can work out what it does.

Snestastic 2 months ago
@Snestastic Cheers Pete, I can't complain about any of the games considering what I spent. It worked out as £8.86 on 14 games, it looks like Gamestation are clearing out their older gen. stuff once and for all though. I'd get down there asap mate, you don't want to miss out to some vulture! haha I saw Point Blank, Contra and the 2nd SF Collection, all on the PS1, in the same offer. Yeah, I remember you buying Crazy Taxi 3, how did you find it?
LeBossu77 2 months ago
@LeBossu77 Your gamestation sounds much better than mine then Owen, I rarely see any decent PS1 titles, usually the same old standard games with knackered cases lol. I got Crazy Taxi I think from one of the shops in town, it might have been MT Games but I can't remember tbh lol just saw it and snapped it up :)
Snestastic 2 months ago
@Snestastic My local branch hasn't had any new retro stuff for a while now, I bought these games from a couple of out of town branches. It sounds like these low prices are Gamestations way of clearing their retro stock for good. That'll be one less place to buy older gen. games then.
