  • Dan Henney! Yes! He's really great.

  • Well Asians are a minority population in the US just like African Americans and hispanics. Which out of these minority groups have been here the longest = African Americans - And they've only in the last 15 years started getting recognized. So you can see how long it has taken african americans to get any recognition even though they have introduced so many forms of entertainment in america. Also Hispanics are even a large pop than blacks and they haven't even received their due.

  • @Drknoble its not an issue of being the minority. its that america is still racist and thats the bottom line. unless asians stand up and fight for our rights we wont get anywhere. just like the latinos and blacks we need to unite.

  • @ballinx30 Very true, racism is still a problem in America. And asian americans do need to unite a little more, african americans and hispanics have done a better job. But look on the bright side, in the last few years asian americans have started making big waves in online entertainment via youtube with people like nigahiga, kev jumba, and timothydelagheto. So progress is being made.

  • @Drknoble the bottom line is unless hollywood changes and media in general asians will be forever scrutinized. media has a heavy influence how all races are portrayed and thats where it stems from.

  • @Drknoble have you ever seen an asian guy on tv that was the stud or the guy who got the girl? have you ever seen an asian character who played a non goofy roll on tv for that matter? sure john cho might get a detective role here and there but outside of that? No. its 2011 asian american men need to stand the **** up and unite. white people know whats up

  • @ballinx30 like u said the issue is racial- we can't forget this is a white country run by white people. So when they think of the all american stud to play the all american role, what pops in their head is their white view of the US. Now ur seeing black people make progress but lets not forget black people had to fight hard to get a presence. Also it's a competition of cultures-white culture wins first by default, & then the black, hispanic & asian cultures have to fight for the other positions

  • i like this vid

    im an asain american actor

  • dude...u act and sound so gay...make asians look bad

  • @ilyxb00 He's just being who he is....so what? Many of us love him for that!

  • @cardiac1100 oooh lol at first i was like...wth? when did i even watch this video? but anyway. it wasn't me, it was my brother, & yes, ill tell him that =) i actually think this vid is cool

  • Unfortunatly... even tho there has been spectacular performances by almost everyone you mentioned.. The actor/actress must be supported by their movies big corporate supporters.. It's all about movie politics and money.. if not they do not get nominations and most importantly the awards..

  • This guy needs to be the first one to go... This is a VLOG topic for a personal channel, not a callab channel!

  • @Dawis23 oh no! i'm sorry you feel that way. i thought this week's theme was an open-ended debate topic, we could choose whatever we were interested in. someone mentioned on Greg's video that it would be more interesting to focus on each of you perspectives. I am Asian and interested in the acting industry so I went with a natural choice. I'm sorry if you didn't like it :(

  • Asian actors will get recognized soon, a few years ago the academy just recognized Halle Berry as a great actress...go figure!

I dont pay much attention to the oscars, the peoples choice awards however, are another deal. Its much more difficult to please millions of people than a handful of "expert judges". I remember the movie "Fargo" won an Oscar for best movie, and that movie was just awful.

Didn't crouching tiger won some awards?

  • Do note: Asian, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and thereof are a minority! I believe that it may be harder because there isn't that many of us(of Asian descent) esp. Full Asians, and Asian Americans. All minorities experience some type of adversity before being successful.

  • hopefuly it is just a matter of time for more awards. BTW: I really liked Sandra Oh in Sideways, she really is a versitile actress and hope she has not pigeon holed herself with Grey's Anotomy. I think she can do so much more.

  • I think Asian actors are going to have to make more in-roads in television before they are going to get Oscars. The Oscars are so white that even black Americans have similar roadblocks.

Is the American audience ready for an Asian family sitcom? They weren't when Margaret Cho tried it. We're just starting to see hispanic sitcoms.

Ensemble casts have been diversifying on TV with more Indian and Persian actors due to the recent political climate. I think we'll get there, but very slowly.

  • I guess it would be interesting to see what the ratio of movies released in the United States that had Asians in a leading role. Sandra Oh is incredible. I really loved her in Sideways and of course she's amazing in Grey's Anatomy. Zhang Ziyi has been in a few movies in the United States, but has probably been in countless Foreign films.

Margaret Cho makes a few jokes about this exact situation. "I can't run up a wall!"
