  • Buddy inspired a number of companies to produce a "Buddy Rich" snare drum. Buddy actually preferred a Fibes fiberglass snare for many years (even though it would often get him in trouble with whichever company he was endorsing at the moment!).

  • this is how a snare drum should sound damnit

  • diggin that korean rim job!

  • Love the Pearl drum key!

  • @tombat40 you're right, he never played dw. the company was created after he died. but since he's a big influence to drumming even today, dw decided to do a tribute. so a while back they made a buddy rich classic series kit, so this might be one of the drums dedicated to him.

  • I love DW wood snares they the shit!

  • I feel like im in an elevator (intro music)

  • strange.

  • Buddy played Slingerland, Ludwig, Rogers, Fibes & Vox drums. He never played DW drums. DW are obviously trying to cash in on Buddy's name. How sad!!!!

  • @guardianigor To you...DW is about making custom drums

  • I might want to get this for lighter play :^P

  • There's just one thing, buddy never played DW drums :P

  • dw= drum waste

  • Drum tuning sounds fine to me. Of course it could always be 'better' but it probably just needs to be better miked. Overall not to be IMO.

  • I think this was a real dick move by DW. I mean, the snare is nice. But it's not Buddy Rich.

  • Fuck DW and their drum monopolization. You're only paying for the name, not the actual quality of the product. the factory's full of border jumping people who only assemble the instrument without understanding it. Factory workers, not artisans...Sabian's got plenty of MUSICIANS making their products. If DW's gonna charge $3,000 for a mediocre kit, why can't they have the same thing?

  • @drumguy1990 Lol you are COMPLETELY uneducated. First off, it's important to remember that the snare drum in this video was tuned HORRIBLY and that's why the sound is so bad. DW kits are of superior quality to many other kits, and if you actually took the time to listen to one tuned properly, then maybe you'd understand. Also, keep in mind that DW is primarily a custom drum brand, so whatever you think is a good kit is something they can make.

  • @drumguy1990 DW is high quality! it what does having "border jumping people" have to do with the quality and sound? youre comparing a drum company to a cymbal company? fucking dumbass!

  • Buddy rocked Slingerland, Rogers, Ludwig and Vox drums. He's been also dead for almost 25 years. It's just DW's way to pay tribute to The Best with the best. Thanks for posting

  • sounds like a buddy rich snare for sure.

    check me out

    im the INSANEDRUMMER

  • even though he used slingerland its still a fresh drum

  • Buddy would probably play this if the money was right

  • Love the sound of this snare.

Would you be able to put the drum specs (dimensions, materials, hardware, etc.) in the description? That would really help out us folks trying to figure out which type of snare to buy. Thanks for posting!

  • At least they dont have those ugly circle lugs on it....

  • god i hate DW. it's like they're trying to monopolize the drum world.

  • I don't see it as Buddy Never played these drums so why is DW doing a tribute drum to him? It's more like, Buddy was a huge force in the drum world, we tip our hats to him. (and maybe a bit of lets make some money off his name. Of course his estate will get a cut as well).

I love the sound. I could picture him playing it.

By the way, Buddy played wood drums as well as metal at different times of his career.

  • Sounds VINTAGE

  • lol whats with the elevator music

  • They probably made this since Nick Rich plays DW.

  • Buddy Rich never played DW drums and for the most part he use steel snares. I bought the Buddy Rich signature drum sticks and they're as fake as this drum.

  • lovin the elevator music!!

  • made in china

  • where is the ring?

  • This drum has that great jazz sound. It's almost too 'poppy' but great.

  • thats beautifull! how much? for the drum key..

  • DW sucks

  • @AfterlifeBlack yeah right mate ;)

    Troll.

  • @AAXDrums Yes, I spend my hours wandering the depths of Youtube trying to piss people off, because that is a very constructive use of time. No, I just have an opinion that I don't like DW, whats wrong with that???

  • @AfterlifeBlack Ok then mate. Why you hate DW ? Can you support your opinion?

  • @AAXDrums Yes, every DW I've played on sounds bad in my opinion, they are too expensive and in what I've seen, they focus more on the business side rather than the actual drums. plus i dont like their pedals,or hardware very much

  • @AfterlifeBlack I won't discuss opinions.

But, clearly you're a drummer with strange opinions. DW is, without a doubt, an amazing company, that have the best drums out there. They have the sound, detail, everything.

  • @AAXDrums And I understand that, everyone has their tastes, I for one like Sonor and Ddrum

  • @AfterlifeBlack For drums and hardware - DW. but for snares... tama starclassic. They're amazing

  • @AAXDrums I love tama snares mostly the warlord series, because i like metal snares

  • @AfterlifeBlack They're good. But i'm 100% wood :)

  • Overpowered EQ...

  • Buddy never used this snare Drum Workshop just did a tribute

  • it has to suck to test out a buddy rich snare drum because whoever does is no were near as good as buddy

  • Buddy Rich used a metal snare manufactured by Slingerland. Why DW would make a Buddy Rich snare out of wood beats me.

  • pearl drum key on D.W. drum.

  • I can get a $100 snare to sound just like it

  • @WildLifeHawaii same here!

  • haha i bet this cost a butt ton of money and its not even his signature snare

  • @JackMehoff845 yeah, I'm kinda' dissapointed in DW for this. I only know of Buddy Rich ever using Trxon and Slingerland drums. Maybe even Ludwig. And as far as I've seen he had a thing for white or silver drums... Eh... This is a fail.

  • @TheDustyspears yeah he used ludwigs for a while i think right before he died im not too sure

  • @tambodrums8 Not true! He played wood Slingerland and Rogers snares. And the Fibes snare was fiberglass. But yes... this is a total bogus drum.

  • @tambodrums8 and Slingerland

  • Does the guy know to sit down...?!

  • fail....pearl drum key u just descried buddy rich!

  • Matched grip no less! What ever makes a buck ... pathetic.

  • Slap Buddy's mug on a snare and u got a "Buddy Rich snare"

    How stupid can u get!

  • DW wasn't even a company when Buddy was in his heyday.

  • all the drums sound the same in these videos

  • too bad buddy rich had nothing to do with dw

  • What are the specs on that drum? Is it a gum/maple or solid shell? Sounds great!

  • the beginning music sounds like bad porn

  • buddy rich played slingerland and ludwig

  • As far as I know, Buddy had never played dw drums...

  • very nice snare drum

  • The Funny Part Is Buddy Rich Rocked Singerland Drums

  • @zacwillems1 u know wats even funnier? i think thats a pearl drum key :)

  • @zacwillems1 and rogers, and fibes....

  • @zacwillems1 Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DW buy Slingerland tho?

  • @zacwillems1 and ludwigs and even rogers for a short while

  • @zacwillems1 So true bro. Do you think that DW made this since Neil Peart is a DW man and loves Buddy Rich?

  • @zacwillems1 So many thumbs up for "singerland" drums?? Oh dear... it's actually Slingerland. Come on people, are you hard core drummers or what? It's SLINGERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zacwillems1 SLINGERLAND*

  • @zacwillems1 this should be ilegal, Slingerland demand DW, lol =)

  • tilt it away from you! xD

  • buddy rich didn't roll DW....

  • loving the Pearl drum key ...

  • @saundersa

    LOL right on brother!

  • haha, pearls are handmade since 1952!

  • How much?

  • If I had I wouldn´t use it jaja just to brag about it

  • that is one beautiful snare! Sounds great!

  • I know buddy played a Fibes Snare for a time but if that's the only connection with DW than it's hardley an indorcment to use Buddyies name with this drum!

Or mabie Cathy gave the nod after the check arrived.

  • Why go for a DW?

if you can find one,the original Fibes with the SFT was his snare of choice.

    Best snare I ever played.

  • anyway, the snare is great! i would buy one if i could afford it, hehe...

  • as far as i know, buddy rich had never played dw, but ludwigs, slingerland and roger´s

  • it could be tuned a wee bit better maybe tighter. i like my snares to be like 95 psi

  • seems a craviotto ones...

  • The music is just so.....casual

  • feel like buying insurance?! we need a cast of happy smiling people to walk in a park with this music!! lol you were right....casual indeed.

  • when buddy rich got a signature snare from dw?

  • how much is it

  • You'll need to take out a 2nd mortgage
