This is horse shit....someone has cleverly remixed this with Pro Tools or a program similar. The original version does NOT have Mick and Merry Clayton singing on it. I have a few of the original, legit early takes, including the one with Keith singing lead. With that said, I admit this was a fun listen....LOL
Wow this is all Emmaretta Marks singing before Merry Clayton stepped all over her 7 tracks she did for The Rolling Stones never getting any credit or a single dime from the boys..! I've recorded with Emmaretta and know her distinctive voice,,Go see Gimmie Shelter Emmaretta Marks "Why Don't You Pay Me..!" The CD releases cranked Emmaretta's Superior Tracks still zero recognition or compensation She Created The Intro we all grew up hearing.. Come on Keith time to man up brother..!
Vietnam was very hot @ the time of this song's release. South Vietnam was Chaos, assassinations were rampant, the peace movement used this as an anthem. The most troubling time for our country that I can remember. I beat the draft by enlisting (go figure). Even rock festivals were chaotic.(Altimont). This song means something a little different to us Vets of that era. But it is nice to hear a Jamming version of this song. Sort of wipes the slate clean of it's old memories. Kudos on the upload.
even better than the studio version - I can't be the only one who thinks Charlie Watts is the best drummer rock music has ever known - keeps better time than a Rolex
@michaelp3138 It IS the studio version just un-edited for realease. Maybe they were usure at the time where it was going but here it seems like the vocals were laid in the best parts of it. There are mistakes here and there but who doesn't make those? :) To me Charlie is the best for the Stones. Perfect!
@michaelp3138 I like it better than the studio verson too. Like I said before my favorite part is from 2:36 to 3:15. And yes Charlie Watts seems to get better and better.
It's unfortunate that the remixer isn't credited in the title: this is the work of electronic music legend Danny Howells. Glad to see the vid has so many views, but it would have been nice if he'd gotten the exposure he deserves to go along with it.
like like like and triple like some more....better than the original, better than sex with a frog, better than 'Cats' (the musical)...less harmonica, more bass, drums, better mix, more give & take of instruments. did i mention i like this?

@rok4555 It's like this war-type video game. I had to Google it, since I wasn't familiar with it either ... first time I saw reference to it was here.
@sarayoungman I think this is just the instrumental version of the song? Don't know honestly, it just seems like the original sound mixes that were just released for the hell of it. Good song though! Love the Stones.
Lacks the guts of the 'released' version. Too messy, too much going on, just kills the song. Definitely not the song I fell in love with back in the day.
This song always reminds me of something sleazy or drink n drugs, its like a song at the end of an era which what the sixties were, and we are paying for the drug excess, still love this track though
@CountGams Gotta say, it's just a matter of taste ... respect your opinion but I have to disagree. IMO I like this remix better, although I still love the other version. Maybe we get to hear more of the rhythm section ... whatever it is, I like it alot. Good thing we have both versions, for the people who like the other version.
I like these posts about the background ratchet sound I mentioned earlier. But I had to research it a bit and discovered that the mystery sound is being produced by someone in the band playing a "guiro"
I love this. Few songs embody a time and place so well. This track speaks of 1970s New York during a long hot summer, where everything gets a little crazy...
This is the first time I ever heard the extended version and I actually prefer it over the other one. This is one of the greatest rock songs by one of the greatest rock bands ever. Definitely the very best of the Stones.

@tomislav667 By the way I looked at your profile, you probably haven't heard of the rolling stones, you probably just heard this song from Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam DLC.
What are you talking about... This is no extended unreleased mix... You just pulled the stereo jack out a little when you were recording this and you turned up the bass a lot, and repeated a lot of parts... That's it. Can't fool a recording artist.
@PinkFloyd201 It was remixed from the multi-tracks using Logic Pro. Without pulling up the original project I seem to recall the multi-tracks were bounced to 8-tracks, hence certain elements were sharing a track (ie Jagger and Clayton are on the same track), and there is a lot of bleed too making a "proper" remix difficult. I should know as I did it, not the uploader!
If only the Stones put Honky Tonk Woman on Let it Bleed instead of the inferior Country Honk then Let if Bleed might have been the greatest rock album ever.
@dsfddsgh Just having "You Can't Always Get What You Want" "Midnight Rambler" Gimme Shelter" and "Monkey Man " on it makes it one of the greatest albums of all time.

@ACDCRocks780 The Young brothers are Scottish but AC/DC was formed in Australia, so they're considered an Australian band. What does AC/DC have to do with this video anyway? Why is everybody fighting over what country all these bands were from?
And so what if you went to the moon, we all know either a russian, a dog or a monkey went there first. anyway america, know is justin, gaga and wayne doing :D ?
@JordanEvans3794 nevermind you did mention sabbath, my point is, in the past both the us and uk pulled out some great music, but yes we currently make shitty music, but there are a few good american bands still left, black rebel motorcycle club, and the black angels to name a few.but we have opinions separate from our own..
@outlawcountryman rock and rock will live again soon, yeah we got kasabian and the kings but thats nothing to what we have had in the past... our music is pretty much the same over here aswell... look up on youtube cher lloyd - swagger jagger... shes a 17 year old bitch which cant sing and relays on people to write their lyrics and uses auto tune, like beiber and wayne... look it up and dislike it us brits we are pissed at her !!
Vietnam was just a pointless war, I'm so proud to be British... where the hell do I start, The Stones, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Queen, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Stone Roses, Oasis, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden and so much more, also Jimi Hendrix had to come to britain to get famous, because guess what, america was going to another pointless war haha... also a british man made the computer and the internet, just had to get that in aswell lol :D
@JordanEvans3794 we have blue oyster cult, grand funk railroad ,creedence clearwater revival, the doors, lynyrd skynyrd,zz top, ted nugent, van halen, billy joel, aerosmith, Bob dylan, steve miller band, the james gang, the eagles, bob seger and the silver bullet band, the allman brothers band, johnny cash, waylon jennings, the doobie brothers, Dire straits and many more but why did you fail to mention sir elton john? or the almighty black sabbath?
Hey man, cut the brother some slack; a bunch of Hell's Angels attacked him with their jimmy sticks and bike chains! Heck, should he be blamed for pulling a piece in self-defense?
Thumbs up if..., oh wait, sorry, I forgot for a second that sticking 'thumbs up' in front of a comment is sheer desperation.
