Just take the mouse sensitivity it takes just two clicks to access it with windows its three or four, it might not seem like much but this apples for almost everything on OS X, and this is one of the reasons why I will never switch back to Windows.
@Scoobynath555 you had no argument too a argument about mouse sensitivity. heres the thing you can get hundreds of mouse that have a button underthat change the sensitivity. until you give a reason besides it is simple osx is just isnt that great
I was a Windows user and I recently switched to OS X and I truly believe that it is far better. For a Windows user that has never used OS X it is really difficult to make them understand why but if you have never tried it next time you go to a computing store just go over and use it. The simplify just wins me over, I'm not a moron and i can use Windows very well intact but I just feel that when using OS X it just takes half was many mouse clicks to get to where you want to go.
One quote really made me think "Windows was made to run on anything" Oh, well that's probably why Linux is the most used operating system in other than desktop machines (dishwashers, street lights, military software, you name it).
I like both Microsoft and Apple equally. NOTICE I did not say PCs. There really should not be a dogmatic viewpoint on which is better I have a MacBook Pro with a dual boot and a PC that I built myself. I do not buy PCs that are already built because they are not great. For people to criticize Windows when in fact the impaired hardware is the problem is not smart. the only reason I buy macs is because the hardware is better than the norm I believe that Windows is just as good as Mac OS.
I actually used to follow the Apple religion. Then I used Windows 7 Starter(reluctantly at first) on a Toshiba Netbook(as I didn't have the money for a Macbook), and I couldn't believe that Windows 7 was JUST AS stable as OSX. Over time I eventually totally switched back. I feel it is a FAR more impressive engineering feat for Microsoft to make an OS just as stable as OSX and it runs on shit tons more machines! No reason to ever buy a Mac. If you really want Unix, install Windows and Linux.

Having a Mac might be better since you can dual boot OSX and Windows. That way you get the best of both worlds.
the truth is I bought my i5 2500\Radeon 6850\8 GB RAM\1 TB PC with a fairly good display and all the stuff for 900$ . Somewhat similar iMac is 1999$. And now it took me a few minutes to install VMWare workstation and get Lion running on my PC. Oh, yeah, and I have way more software, kick-ass games and whatnot to choose from. Apple is for dimwits.
The Windows kernel runs on my laptop, my phone, and my old PDA built in 1999 oh yeah and on pretty much EVERY kiosk and ATM on earth. It is very versatile not to say that the Linux and OSX kernels aren't either. Linux runs on phones mainly under the distro Android. The iphone also runs on the OSX kernel. But OSX kernel is derived from the preexisting Unix kernel and Linux though it is its own kernel was derived through a huge opensource community. Windows kernel was created by just one company.
I own a MacBook Pro. I purchased it about a year ago and lost the "coolness" of owning a mac after about 3 months. I wish Macs were better gaming supported, even the 27" iMac or the MacPro isn't good at gaming, Apple keeps trying to tell people that Macs are continuing to support more games. They are definitely fixing the software side of gaming, but the hardware side is a year old, Apple sicks with what they are confortable with and changes every 9 months. I would pay $250 to put OSX on my PC.
Let me just preface this by saying I'm not looking for any hate. Only reply if you have something serious to say and can potentially help me out. So I have a lousy 5 year old Dell laptop as my only computer and seriously need an upgrade. I love OSX and the MacbookPro hardware a lot but I don't know if I'd get bored of the "coolness" of having a Mac after a few months. If I go with a "PC" laptop, i still want a sleek aluminum, or similar finish. Suggestions? =]
@thefuf99 The Asus Ultrabooks are the Macbook Air equivalents but hell are they expensive. However, you do get some great specs in their high-end ultrabooks. Something like 8GB RAM with an i5/i7.
I like mac because their looks, and its easy to use and i would have got 2 viruses if i wasn't using windows but i hate how hard it is to put mac os x on a custom built computer thats why im switching to windows plus i will be able to play terraria finally and some better games but i really wish it was easy to put mac os x on a custom computer like it is for windows.
I find it most beneficial to use both and have both installed on my laptop. I use OSX for photo editing, browsing the web and general usage (gestures make this a much better experience on osx IMO than windows offers). But i use windows for skyrim
well the other day i was at best buy, and i was kind of wanting another laptop (im on ipad) i wanted flash and other configurations that you cant get with ipad. i got rid of my dell laptop because i hated it so i thought maybe there is a good pc that would run great. so i look around and i saw one that had impressive specs so i wake it up and click an a few things and all of the sudden i get an error report! i cant believe i was about to let myself go through that world of hell again. my dad ha
Windows is fine but in 1992 I loved the control I had over Amiga Workbench and it was efficient but when Commodore went under I went to Windows and by that point it had got better but I missed the simplicity of Workbench.
I'm watching this on Linux Mint 11 LXDE but I prefer Windows Vista and 7 and Ubuntu 10.04. Linux Mint is just something I play around with every now and then.
This video is perfect. I have a MacBook pro and have windows on bootcamp and parallels. I use parallels when I just need to do a quick thing. Or if I need to use an intensive app on windows I will boot to bootcamp.
Why does Apple restrict their OS to Macs? I would run OS X on my non-Apple machine if it were legally available (not hackintosh). I just built a high-end water cooled PC using the new X79 chipset with a Core i7 3930 CPU and 32 GB of ram for thousands less than an equivalent Mac.
@TJC450 That's the fun thing with Windows, I love troubleshooting problems and what is crashing my PC. And I have another Windows machine that I do download Viruses on, so that I can combat them. But that's something I enjoy and I can see that A LOT of people doesn't like that, to those I recommend Macs.
@harrybean2006 Two reasons. The obvious one that they kind of try to brush under the carpet is corporate greed, it gives them a larger hardware market share and lets them put a premium on things. But vertical integration gives them better control over how things run, to the effect that macs can (usually) run smoother and with less problems, and known issues can be solved faster because the company making the software is familiar with the hardware. Ya take the good with the bad
@harrybean2006 Because it's about the money lebowski. If they do that it will cannibalize their own mac computer sales. They want the money all for their own and they don't want any companies like HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. to profit off of their OS.
@harrybean2006 They make a lot of money on the sale of hardware. Plus they don't have to support the multitude of third party products and drivers that cause a lot of the problems and system instability on Windows.
@harrybean2006 because if they where to open it up to you, you would have no reason to buy the mac hardwere... trust me i am on a mac. and if i took the price i payed for this and licence mac OSX i would have had a 3x more powerful computer... but apple does not want that.
@harrybean2006 I must agree with your comment! I custom built my laptop a few months ago, a 17.3 inch notebook and for all I built it with, it was $1,009, about $1,200+ cheaper than the Macbook Pro 17 inch and it runs greatly with Windows 7! Windows 7 is an excellent OS, best Microsoft OS since XP and it's way better than XP! (=
@harrybean2006 T_T, Chris explains the exact reason why Apple limits OS X to macs in a million of his videos.... To sum it up, Apple controls Mac OS X so that the overall experience is much better for the user. I'm pretty sure 90% of consumers who buy computers aren't willing to put in the time or effort to build a computer. People want a good experience. Even though Apple asks a hefty price, in the end (To me and many more people {still increasing in numbers}), it's worth it.
@harrybean2006 k...I understand the i7, the water cooling and everything else..but why 32gb of RAM? Are you making games or doing heavy video eaditing?
I like Mac computers because they are designed to work with the software and the other way around. I like how OSX is limited to a few computers. I can see how gamers like windows but I enjoy the apple ecosystem. It just works.
So you enjoy using a very limited pool of over-expensive software just because it works exclusively for Mac, which in itself is only available on RIDICULOUSLY overpriced hardware?
mac osx is too much like iOS; they need to start remembering that the mac is a computer, not a phone. Windows is more unstable and has loads more errors, they need to work on it's stability and make it more secure without the annoying pop-ups that you spend half and hour disabling after every reformat. However, I like both, I use both, and I agree that both have advantages and disadvantages.
I like Ubuntu for my Packard Bell laptop, and OS X for my Mac mini. Ubuntu is great for me because it offers a very wide range of software to choose from, it is relatively easy for me to write programs for (e.g. Vala vs .NET), and it offers great customizability so I can twist and shape it exactly the way I want. I installed GNOME shell for a great base, and use community-made themes which I then edit even further. Also Ubuntu likes hardware (even some hardware even my Mac doesn't like).
The reason I like windows is the fact it can do anything OS10 can do and then some... When you buy a mac your buying it for the most part for the bloatware included software , and free software , or your a low-end user ,... Your also buying it for Apples customer service , however depending on your Manufacturer ie: Toshiba you get great customer service anyways.. If i want my Windows machine to look like OS10 i can do that... The price point for windows and os10 dont even compare...
1. You haven't heard of Flash drives , Discs where u save all your drivers
2. The MAC was designed for your low-end hardware , Windows was designed for atleast medium end specs... You cant even go highend on a MAC in most areas...
@mywotzone most macs have high specs already so there would be no need to change the hardware, and most people dont bother to put drivers on disks when you can just download them off of websites
@ThatAccount100 And when you get a updated driver that doesnt work? Everyone should have a burned disc with drivers... Macs dont have high specs... All the I7's they have out are low-end I7's , the video cards are a joke for a mac , Memory for the most part limited to 8GB , Can't get a 10,000 RPM Raptor hard-drive for your mac....
@mywotzone there would really be no need for putting more than 8gb of ram in a computer anyway and there would also be no point of having a 10,000 RPM hard drive when you could just a get an ssd and they may be "low-end" i7 chips but at least mac has proper power management, and the video cards are quite good considering what is out in the market for laptop video cards
@ThatAccount100 Soon there will be a need for more then 8GB of ram and the Macs wont support it with there lousy motherboards... There is a point to 10k RPM Hard-drives it cost about 1/2 the price the same for a windows machine over a mac... Most macs are integrated video which is horrid...
@mywotzone you say they have lousy motherboards but i doubt you have ever owned a mac, and i have owned a couple pc's before all of them went because of errors with the bios
@ThatAccount100 Ive had the same PC since 1990... Still runs windows 95... and before that ran DOS... I've had 2 other computers running since 2000 , and 2002 , so maybe your buying a $60 motherboard and expect it to live forever? However if you have a good ASUS Motherboard you can expect a LONG time of use....
@mywotzone exactly what i thought a single minded person that cant really say shit because you haven't owned a mac before, you are just judging on the specs and what you have heard. do yourself a favour and at least use a product before you start talking shit about it
@ThatAccount100 Ive used a MAC before... theres not a reason to own one? Nothing can it do that windows can't do... Windows has all the software MAC does , Windows PC's have better specs at 1/2 the price...
All operating systems are perfect in every way, due to the simple fact that unless you are doing something complex, everything is now done through the web.
@danielgartin6993 no pc fan is going to care about the os they care about the hardware also you can use linux on a pc if it was the same price then ya i would buy it also i have a mac mini and a pc my pc cost 4k$ and has 650$ in software and can do evrything my mac os can do but 10x better (my pc would cost 14k$ in hardware on a mac ) i do like the os easaility but its not worth the cash i can click the start button for all i care
Funny how you said in the previous video that Windows' massive compatibility and therefore Microsoft's lack of control, was it's drawback... food for thought.
People need to realize that every computer has problems, and will fail at some aspects. It's just if you can live with the problems. And for you who claims that some other manufacturer makes better laptops, get your facts straight you fanboy, every computer is better that some other one, but your company is not the best, so stop protecting it like its your company, they sre not paying you to market them.
exaaactlyyy!!! there isn't the 1 OS... we live in a world with complex different needs where different kinds of OSes fit different settings. AND we can like both for their respective strengths! great video & article
i like Mac because everything's so clean and easy and stuff, but sometimes it's kinda annoying that EVERYTHING has to be done "the mac way". On the other side, Windows has had the power to sustain a monopoly for a long time, and i'm glad that has ended; because that way, Windows is really forced to do things better! In conclusion, i believe it's magnificent that both platforms exist, because they force each other to improve :).
I personally use Windows on a Desktop cause of its gaming compatibility and "cheapness" for an incredible powerful Desktop, but then i use OSX for my laptops and portable devices cause no one makes Laptops like Apple, the fit and finish is just on another level compared to its Windows counter part, and while you do pay for a premium for it i personally feel its worth it.
Just take the mouse sensitivity it takes just two clicks to access it with windows its three or four, it might not seem like much but this apples for almost everything on OS X, and this is one of the reasons why I will never switch back to Windows.

Apple's OS may be better for a person in one (and I can see only one) way.
If the person is working for a company that explicitly requires a software only available on Apple's OS.
This is still no excuse for actually buying a mac as hackintosh is a viable option.
I feel that Windows is the best only for the fact that it is more widely supported
Both by hardware and software
OS X is a viable OS for the average consumer but for anything requiring a more specialist market

the truth is I bought my i5 2500\Radeon 6850\8 GB RAM\1 TB PC with a fairly good display and all the stuff for 900$ .

Why does Apple restrict their OS to Macs? I would run OS X on my non-Apple machine if it were legally available (not hackintosh). I just built a high-end water cooled PC using the new X79 chipset with a Core i7 3930 CPU and 32 GB of ram for thousands less than an equivalent Mac.
harrybean2006 2 months ago 24
@harrybean2006 Then OS X would be just like windows. Buggy crashy too many viruses. We don't want that.
TJC450 2 months ago
@TJC450 That's the fun thing with Windows, I love troubleshooting problems and what is crashing my PC. And I have another Windows machine that I do download Viruses on, so that I can combat them. But that's something I enjoy and I can see that A LOT of people doesn't like that, to those I recommend Macs.
SanyaIVLitvyak 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 Because apple would loose alot of users if their software could be run on any machine
Syther102 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 I wish I had as much money as you.
SanyaIVLitvyak 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 Two reasons. The obvious one that they kind of try to brush under the carpet is corporate greed, it gives them a larger hardware market share and lets them put a premium on things. But vertical integration gives them better control over how things run, to the effect that macs can (usually) run smoother and with less problems, and known issues can be solved faster because the company making the software is familiar with the hardware. Ya take the good with the bad
Zeroethorder 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 Because it's about the money lebowski. If they do that it will cannibalize their own mac computer sales. They want the money all for their own and they don't want any companies like HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. to profit off of their OS.
ahmadclk 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 They make a lot of money on the sale of hardware. Plus they don't have to support the multitude of third party products and drivers that cause a lot of the problems and system instability on Windows.
ThoughtfulGeek 2 months ago
@harrybean2006 because if they where to open it up to you, you would have no reason to buy the mac hardwere... trust me i am on a mac. and if i took the price i payed for this and licence mac OSX i would have had a 3x more powerful computer... but apple does not want that.
Technoreviews411 2 months ago

Even though Apple asks a hefty price, in the end (To me and many more people {still increasing in numbers}), it's worth it.

mac osx is too much like iOS; they need to start remembering that the mac is a computer, not a phone.

The price point for windows and os10 dont even compare...
mywotzone 2 months ago
That's pretty much my opinion. Each OS has it's strengths that cater better to what type of computer user you are.
AgentSmith31 2 months ago
there are a couple reasons why i dont like pc
1: all the drivers you have to install when you want to do a fresh install of the OS
2:i have a mac and a pc with exactly the same specs and both on windows 7, but the pc crashes more
ThatAccount100 2 months ago
@ThatAccount100
1. You haven't heard of Flash drives , Discs where u save all your drivers
2. The MAC was designed for your low-end hardware , Windows was designed for atleast medium end specs... You cant even go highend on a MAC in most areas...
mywotzone 2 months ago
@mywotzone most macs have high specs already so there would be no need to change the hardware, and most people dont bother to put drivers on disks when you can just download them off of websites
ThatAccount100 2 months ago
@ThatAccount100 And when you get a updated driver that doesnt work? Everyone should have a burned disc with drivers... Macs dont have high specs... All the I7's they have out are low-end I7's , the video cards are a joke for a mac , Memory for the most part limited to 8GB , Can't get a 10,000 RPM Raptor hard-drive for your mac....
mywotzone 2 months ago
@mywotzone there would really be no need for putting more than 8gb of ram in a computer anyway and there would also be no point of having a 10,000 RPM hard drive when you could just a get an ssd and they may be "low-end" i7 chips but at least mac has proper power management, and the video cards are quite good considering what is out in the market for laptop video cards
ThatAccount100 2 months ago
@ThatAccount100 Soon there will be a need for more then 8GB of ram and the Macs wont support it with there lousy motherboards... There is a point to 10k RPM Hard-drives it cost about 1/2 the price the same for a windows machine over a mac... Most macs are integrated video which is horrid...
mywotzone 2 months ago
@mywotzone you say they have lousy motherboards but i doubt you have ever owned a mac, and i have owned a couple pc's before all of them went because of errors with the bios
ThatAccount100 2 months ago
@ThatAccount100 Ive had the same PC since 1990... Still runs windows 95... and before that ran DOS... I've had 2 other computers running since 2000 , and 2002 , so maybe your buying a $60 motherboard and expect it to live forever? However if you have a good ASUS Motherboard you can expect a LONG time of use....
mywotzone 2 months ago
@mywotzone exactly what i thought a single minded person that cant really say shit because you haven't owned a mac before, you are just judging on the specs and what you have heard. do yourself a favour and at least use a product before you start talking shit about it
ThatAccount100 2 months ago
@ThatAccount100 Ive used a MAC before... theres not a reason to own one? Nothing can it do that windows can't do... Windows has all the software MAC does , Windows PC's have better specs at 1/2 the price...

i like Mac because everything's so clean and easy and stuff, but sometimes it's kinda annoying that EVERYTHING has to be done "the mac way". On the other side, Windows has had the power to sustain a monopoly for a long time, and i'm glad that has ended; because that way, Windows is really forced to do things better! In conclusion, i believe it's magnificent that both platforms exist, because they force each other to improve :).
