Kajura is AMAZING until you hear a second soundtrack from her. Everything she writes is absolutely identical. You wouldn't figure it'd get boring but it does. I missed Mitsuda, personally. Mitsuda is probably my favorite game composer.
@Meringue23 The Xenosaga, .hack//sign, and Petite Cossette soundtracks all have very different feels. Sure, a lot of her music is thematically similar, but to say it all sounds "absolutely identical" is pretty unfair.
I understand your point, and I agree to some extent, but I think you're exaggerating. In her first soundtracks, she managed to create different osts while still maintaining her style. The problem is that nowadays she just adapts the series she is composing for to her style, instead of doing the opposite. Also, she does not try to give a different flavor to her soundtracks anymore. I don't miss Mitsuda though. Never liked his work for Xenogears and Xenosaga that much.
I love how profound this game is...episode two was screwed up but I still love this game no other game has been so captivating...after all this time I still hope for the continuation of the story...sigh
OH MY GOD!! OH CRAP! OH, OOOOHHH- I've been lookin' for this song for years-YEARS!! I heard it years ago, looked up Xenosaga 3 final boss, and kept getting a different song, oh my, oh MY GOD, I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!
Yuki Kajiura! I knew this style sounded familiar.... she also did the music for the Kara No Kyoukai movie series, and a lot of the same stylistic touches are present (leitmotifs repeated in different styles, big choral flourishes, etc.)
Man this is one of the best RPG games I played when I needed a little bit of healing to do as in emotionaly but this track totally rocks. Xenosaga III made me cry big time but some part of it made me do the things i did like steal the cookies from the cookie jar.....jk but still it made me cry and weep sometimes I even got angry at the game for no reason and still it gave me luck.
I listened to this song. I was like "OMG I need this game" so I made some researches and and found out that... this game was never released in France. There's too much wonderful games that are never released in France. It's such a pain...
I wonder, if we start a petition for the continuation of Xenosaga, and reach a good number, will they consider making the last 3 episodes? I'm all for the continuation, but as long as they do it well. If they are to release a rushed product, I don't want it, because it would ruin such a perfect series.
Borrows quite a bit from the concepts found with Friedrich Nietzche's books. In this case, the concept of Eternal Recurrence... though I think that concept is found in a previous book.
Just found this song by looking for songs by Yuki Kajiura, and, as expected, it's awesome! Btw, can anyone tell me what platform this game was for and what year it was released in?
I will never forgive nintendo, or the creators of Xenosaga for this, for promising this pain, promising it, by ending the Xenosaga series earlier. Thats what this song is, its Promised Pain.
I cried at the end of the game. This song makes me remember everything, especially at the climax of the song, its like the song of a Goddess of Epicness. I can't even describe it....
It's really sad that Xenosaga had to end this way. Seriously, this game was epic. Epic story. Epic musics. Epic (well, well done for its time) graphics. Epic characters. Epic cinematic. You could easily fall in love with those characters. Everything was deep. Xenosaga deserved a better fate.
@LiuHry I like how everything is epic but gameplay, apparently. And that's why Xenosaga deserved to die, it was a shitty game that should've been a visual novel.
@Ziogen Motoi is pretty fantastic, but a lot of his soundtracks are very mediocre. If you compare Tales of the Abyss /Star Ocean 3 with Baten Kaitos or Eternal Sonata, you wouldn't think they were by the same person. Still even his Tales or Star Ocean trakcs always have a few songs you can just listen to over and over again. I would say his main problem is he uses electric guitar waaaaaaay too much. Like an electric guitar solo does not belong in an ancient ruins level, for example.
@darkshock55 Cuz there where people that rather go for very high budget games. Normaly its supose to be 6 episodes not 3. After episode 1, some people left. Then after episode 2, more people left. They where losing money and had enough for one more which was episode 3.
Overall the xenosaga series was vary popular in Japan, others, not so much.
@Joehop777 oh yes, that i already know, it was more a rhetorical question than anything else, but it was so good, the graphics were excellent for episode III, and the music and atmosphere..... too bad the sales didnt match the awesome potential for a budding, and what would have been a grandiose game series... did you notice how the female characters were becoming more scantily clad as the series progressed? :)
@darkshock55 I know this is a year late but the games didn't sell either in Japan or in the states. So they took episodes 3, 4, 5, and six and turned them into TL;DR database entries and TL;DC exposition and just ended the series. Know that 40 minute monologue about Lemegeton? Well that arc was supposed to be the 3rd and 4th games.
Its Deus not Deuce, morons. Also Xenosaga and Xenogears DO NOT take place in the same Universe. They only share some similarities, since they are made by the same people.
It is Deus, not Deuce. Xenogears and Xenosaga however do take place in the same universe. Xenogears was 'Episode 5' in the series, but due to basically the fact that you can't keep a story running over six episodes in game format, the project was stopped at Xenosaga 3.
And they were not made by the same people, the property rights were sold to Namco, it was originally owned by Squaresoft (later known as Square Enix).
Xenogears is indeed "Episode V", but that means is the fifth episode in the Xenogears Universe. The Xenogears and Xenosaga universes are different, they are NOT connected by plot.
For example, Xenogears Episode I was the creation of Deus and it's rebelion. Episode II was the recreation of the human race by Deus, Cain and the Gazel Ministry. Episode III was the Zeboim civilization. Episode IV was the war of Solaris, Shevat and Nisan. Episode V is Xenogears, the story that we actually play on.
And yes, they were made by the same team. Monolith Software was one of the teams working in Squaresoft. Most of the team resigned and decided to work with Namco.
Monolith couldn't recreate Xenogears' storyline completely because Squaresoft still owned the rights to the game. So they decided to "re-imagine" Xenogears, using some of the same concepts, terms and names. Thus they created Xenosaga, a "re-envisioned" Xenogears but not connected to the original.
actually they do at the end of xenosaga 3 kos-mos is seen floating of to a blue planet.the makers of both xenogears and xenosaga both say and agree that the blue planet is the planet were xenogears takes place.
Deuce = the boss of Xenogears AND the boss of Xenosaga, you clearly did not understand what i was trying to say. I fully understood AND I explained that the stories are connected "The games' story lines fit together". i also said that Xenosaga is prior to Xenogears when i said "Xenosaga I, II, III, unreleased game, Xenogears (5), unreleased game". read better, or learn english, whichever is your problem fix it.
everything you say is incorrect. you have absolutely no grasp of the xenogears or xenosaga storylines. they are thematically similar but it is impossible for both of them to take place in the same story universe.
