Streetlight just sounds more professional while Catch feels like a garage band performance. Both have their own sound despite being so similar.

In Catch, you can here the little hickups and provides a "care free" swooning attitude towards their music. Kind of like, let loose and go nuts.

In Streetlight, we have strong musical talent combined with perfection, sort of how Catch was suppose to sound. The quality is clear and the music flows better providing the intention given.

I love'em both.

the difference between catch 22 and SM to me is that C22 is raw as balls and SM SOUNDS like they did it in a recording studio

C22 versions are imperfect, hell yea, which makes it more exciting to me

Besides, Tom himself avoids referring to Streetlight as Ska, punk, skapunk, or even putting a genre of it. And I agree. Streetlight is so awesome that it transcends genre. So go be a hipster somewhere else; we'll stay here enjoying some kickass music.

@vnvnation06 Oh I'm sorry. I like music because it sounds good not just because it happens to fit in a specific genre. I'm sorry if I'm just another supporter of a band that's destroying legacies. Perhaps they are making their own with music that is different from any genre. As long as it's a basic similarity then that's all that matters because Genres are designed to let people know what they like and what other bands play somewhat the same type. Not to stifle creativity.

P.S. Streetlight is a conglomeration of several musical genres and as such are no single genre themselves. I find it hard to understand by what "expand your mind" means when it comes to such a musically diverse group.

okk let me explain tom formed a band called gimp then from that formed catch 22, he went to colledge and when he got done catch22 was over already so i got some old members and started up streetlight, he then re recorded the keasby knights album thats why there songs are all the same, i like catch 22 better though because it was when they where younger and its got more life and energy itll never be the same again.

LOL dude if anything the SLM ver of the album is better, and if anything Catch 22's best CD is keasby where as SLM has 2 albums that are equivalent or better then keasby. How can you like catch22 better, they're better now as SLM then catch22 ever was or will be. SLM still doesn't have a single bad cd where as catch 22 has many.

Actually, Catch 22 was still a band at that time, and has continued producing records to this day.

Streetlight formed from some members of Catch 22, but also from members of another New Jersey-based Ska band called One Cool Guy.

He re-recorded the album because Catch 22 was going to re-release the album, and Tomas wanted to at least re-record it to make it sound better, as explained in the outro of "1234-1234".

All that being said, Catch 22 and Streetlight are both awesome as hell...

Anyone that isnt tone-deaf or has the slightest bit of musical knowledge would tell you that the C22 version is MUCH worse due to the horrible hornline.

In the Streetlight version, the hornline doesnt sound like a bag of shit, the tempo of the song doesnt change every 5 seconds, and the guitar parts are cleaned up significantly.
