Ok I see about the motor being big but mtx never has broken a spl record even with the jackhammer and you don't have to have a heavy woofer to get big numbers the world record is with Craig butler with his 2 ddz 18 with the neodymium magnets and so lot of sounddigital 12ks and hit hit 181 db
@JonDeth it the coating they use on the wire.Power handling is related to the thermal tolerance of the wire insulation, adhesive,wire diameter and bobbin material. im pretty sure the stuff used on everything from sundown, fi ,dc all use the same type of coating . the coating has a rating of like 500 degrees C . The power handling is limited by the amount of heat that can be tolerated, and the amount that can be removed from the voice coil. Pioneer SPL uses superior Ceramic coatings 600C +
@mazda2284 being such a low cost component in any woofer physiology they're clearly designing it to be substandard or were sabotaged by players in the industry. The highest grade manufacturer's are probably using epoxy coated coil wire from an iron clad supplier. I know majority of your coil wire regardless of application will be using enamel. Lacquer is becoming rare in use for any industry. It's stronger but brittles with age.
So either by choice or sabotage, MTX has a batch of shit coil wire
