  • Thanks soo much now i understand hunds rule

    really simpl :) . . .

  • Chemistry is interesting, but the most funny thing is in 1.16 :D because "Hund" means dog in many languages, for example in mine (Swedish), but also in German and it was a German that had founded it :D So his surname means "dog" :) In my opinion it is quite funny, because I don´t think that dogs knows so much about this subject :D

    Hund´s rule :D

  • WASTE OF TIME if you are seeking understanding. Don't waste people's time if you offer nothing explanatory except diagrams I can find by looking at google images.

  • @mcmounim WTF!! I cannot believe you call this something you don't understand! ?? I may not understand what an orbital is but still understand this video!

  • ....wow, that sucked!

  • @Rizmaestro ...in fact, that was the worst comment I have ever seen!

  • I'm still lost....I don't get it.....I really don't.

  • i remember when i was in school many of my fellow students seemed to have more problems with the 'Mole concept' than E.C, don't know why.

  • my favorite part of this vid was the music LOL seriously

  • Thanks! now i understand hunds rule. the video is actually very helpful if your willing to think for yourself. I'm pretty sure that's what chemistry is all about.

  • Hey thanks for nothing!

  • I have to mute this crap before my wife pulls out her revolver.

  • This makes sense.

But I already learned about this.

If i didn't know what these things meant i would have no idea what this was.

  • Thanks :)

  • I think 4s orbital should lie above 3d orbital, 3d has lower energy then 4s, we only write it so, because it is consequence of electron configuration, not the energy. This can be check by simple HF calculation.

  • @rssigma No the 4s fills before the 3d in atomic orbitals, however, they are close in energy. The 3d begins with a higher energy than the 4s as energy goes up with n and l. The reason for some of the d exceptions that is is also a function of how many d electrons there are.

  • There are far better videos on YouTube explaining this concept.

  • The 13th Floor is a Great movie to show what it could be!!!

  • The Electron in it's many forms is Gravity!!!

  • @Xxoax That makes... little to no sense.

  • Comment removed

  • Concept is tough to understand at first, but easy as pie later

  • lol i am probably stupid but on the other hand i never came through sth like this so maybe thats why i didnt understand anything...

  • I understand it, Thank U

  • who knew visuals could be so helpful, there wasn't a word being said and it was more helpful than the others vids that they did talk in

  • ty 1000000x ^^ my Chemistry exam is tomorrow and thanks to you, i understood the Hund's Rule

  • What song is this? It's awesome. I've been trying to figure it out ever since my chemistry teacher showed my this 3 weeks ago.

  • Mrs. Kircher's chemistry class anyone? period 2 ftw youtube ftw lol this makes no sense and the music is whack

  • makes sense to me

  • Great post thank you!

  • That was gorgeous!!!

  • Half filled and completely filled orbitals are more stable compared to the in between state, energetically its more favorable, hence Cu has 3d10 (completely filled and 4s1 (half filled)

  • There is lack of (F)luorine.

  • i wish i understood this...

  • can any one explain to me why the configuration of copper is [Ar] 3d10 4s1 and not [Ar] 3d9 4s2

  • copper's symbol is [Cu]. anyway, the reason is the orbitals are in this order (from low energy to high):

    1s,

    2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 3d,

    4s, 4p, 4d ....and so on

electrons have to fill the orbitals in this order. 3d9 4s2 is impossible because 3d hasn't been completely filled (needs 10), so 4s must wait.

  • nevermind, apparently 4s gets filled before 3d. then with the 21st, 4d loses one to 3d,.... i don't understand the logic behind it either.

  • They were using Noble Gas notation.

  • actually i know the entire config by heart

    1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d10 4p6 5s2 4d10 5p6 6s2 4f14 5d10 6p6 7s2 5f14 6d10 7p6.

  • you just save me from a exam!!! thx! and hello from Puerto Rico!!! :)

  • Oh man. Thanks for posting this video. It was a good refresher for me! =)

  • what do you mean by opposite spins?

  • The need to have all electrons in an atom different comes out of quantum theory. If they live in different orbitals, that's fine - but if they are both in the same orbital there has to be some subtle distinction between them. Quantum theory allocates them a property known as "spin" - which is what the arrows are intended to suggest.

  • energy of what !?

    yey... not helpful at all.

    but nice music

  • that was nasty. really helped

  • YAY!! The link ON THE SIDE really helped me.

  • i wanted to wacth because i didnt understand just having the images doesnt help

  • As I said earlier, I don't have the time to put up transcripts right now. You can always download the clip yourself (I always put the link up there)

  • Do not listen to them (it's called READING & PAYING ATTENTION, somnething they cannot do properly)...It doesn't matter if the vid was finished or not..the link you posted on the side REALLY helped. I feel confident that I will pass my Biology quiz this week. :) Thanks <3

  • brutal

  • Feel free to finish the video before uploading.

  • You are always free to download the original video, I can only put transcripts up when I have free time.

  • no sound?
