Think about earning the title MARINE. there are none better and a Marine is another Marines brother for life. the title Marine must be earnrd. when you join the army you are called a solider no title to earn, join the navy and you are called a salior no title to earn, join the air force and you are called an airman no title to earn, join the Marine Corps called a recruite not a Marine till you earn it.

@DESheffield2nd USSR had got victory by the small country of Vietnam. Now Vietnam are socialistic. But American troops occupied Vietnam so finally they lose. Moreover the video above cant be compared with the vietnamese sufferings.

@Modem64k hay nor problems i understand what u r saying. but yet the vietnamese now hate their gov't (well majority) and those that speak out r imprisoned. and u forget the many south Vietnamese that were killed when the NVA took over. of those south vietnamese that were killed was my grand father's first wife. she was raped and killed along with her entire family during the war by NVA soldiers who attacked her village. what a glorious victory.

@Modem64k i have friend whose farther is still in prison and has been for the past 17 years. he was jailed for speaking out and being pro-democracy. she has not heard from her farther since he was jailed and does not know if he is alive or dead. and yes the Americans did suffer greatly during their time there. they all shared in suffering Vietnamese and American.

@Modem64k as for the US had the same goals as the USSR, but it was to stop the spread of communism. though that victory was not achieved until the USSR's defeat in Afghanistan and then later on the collapse of the USSR. so in short term the USSR achieved victory in Vietnam, but in a long run it lost the cold war.

@DESheffield2nd there were no glorious victories, every war is death, suffering and pain. But the strongest always win. South was such one. I dont know alot about Vietnam now, but one thing i can say for sure - they dont love US. Thus might be explained theirs repressions. Vietnam is socialistic and there is some censorship. Yes USSR won vietnam, and yes USSR lost cold war. Ideology of communism defeated finally. Though some countries have communism (socialism - in real) today.

@Modem64k majority of the people of Vietnam like the US. as for the Vietnamese gov't, they are on a neutral relationship with the US. though Vietnam is always criticized for the human rights abuses and rightfully so. and much of the people of Vietnam want a democratic system particularly the people of southern Vietnam. but when ever someone speaks out and protests they r imprisoned.

Everyone can be convinced and fary tales about democracy have interest in totalistic countries. But democracy is very dangerous thing, and itll be better if vietnam stay socialistic. Because if the democracy happened they will be under US influence, so US capitals ll finaly destroy country.

@Modem64k no the Vietnamese are not happy about their lives. that's is why there r so many people ther who r not happy with the way things are. In Vietnam, trust me. there are a lot more poor people than u can imagine. people r just getting by in their lives. for most there is no way they can progress. there is no perfect political system. but Communism is a failed system that tries and controls people lives and at the same time limiting their success in life.

@Modem64k look at every nation that was defeated by the US in the past, then excepted the US as being the victor, and excepted being under US influence. They r flourishing today. and many enjoy wonderful lives. for example, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and West Germany (and now all of Germany).

Japan is where it is at because of the US, same for South Korea, Same for Germany, and Same for Italy. compare the countries who were under US influence to the countries who were under Soviet/Communist influence, the ones that were under US influence are doing way much better. for example, North and South Korea, and to look back in the past West Germany and East Germany.

@DESheffield2nd no reason to compare because the USSR now absent. so US sys won and socialists are in minority. this fact proves wellbeing of democratic sys countries. i just wanted to say that US influence shatter countries thus they becomes weaker. And vietnam could resist shattering its good i think. About Germanys: 1st is that the West was bigger and it means its wellbeing, 2nd is that they had finaly joined. United Germany is more strong then the shattered. Doubtlessly US sys now lead.

Not only that, but indeed every country we've defeated is now flourishing and is doing much, much better. Not only that, but we never fought South Korea. We fought North Korea, and the Chinese during the Korean War. Technically, the Vietnam war WASN'T a war. It's considered a police action. Congress never declared war. And we technically are still fighting North Korea.

Think about earning the title MARINE. there are none better and a Marine is another Marines brother for life. the title Marine must be earnrd. when you join the army you are called a solider no title to earn, join the navy and you are called a salior no title to earn, join the air force and you are called an airman no title to earn, join the Marine Corps called a recruite not a Marine till you earn it.

If you go Army decide what you you want before you talk to a recruiter. Big pressure to fill shortage job skills. See the world, I did, loved it.
I'll not say one bad thing about Marines. NO branch is better. Best dress, march, and pride. HARD too. Depends what you want. Trained w Marines for Armor @ Knox.
Remember boot is mentally hard, FOCUS- & will be a breeze. (Army was cool too) Good luck.
