Yes, Fox did had rights to release New Line movies in The UK, now that Warner Bros. has those rights due to absorbing New Line after the failure of The Golden Compass.
Yeah Fox released Nightmare 1,4 & 5 when they were originally released here in the UK on VHS, for some strange reason 2 & 3 were released by Warner and Freddy's Dead & New Nightmare were released by Guild :)
Guild also released the 1st Ninja Turtles (or Hero Turtles in the UK) movie (as seen on the Total Recall previews, but maybe Virgin released it, I'm not sure) while Fox released the other two and Warner the CGI TMNT film on DVD.
All rights to the Nightmare on Elm Street and Ninja/Hero Turtles films are now with Warner due to the takeover of New Ling following the disaster known as The Golden Compass.
Oddly enough, Entertainment in Video still have the majority of New Line rights and only a limited number of titles have moved to Warner in the UK (Se7en, the Critters series)
New Line rights were scattered all over the shot in the UK because they didn't have a dedicated distributor. Sort of like Lionsgate before they bought Redbus to form Lionsgate UK.
@Urvy1A Virgin released the 1st Ninja Turtles film in the uk. The film was called Ninja Turtles in the UK too both at cinema and video. The hero edit was only done to the cartoon and the artwork of the action figures.
Even more edits were added to the 1st Ninja Turtles film for video. I did a cuts comparison years ago for melon farmers with my uk vhs and usa dvd. Thankfully its uncut over here now.
actually new nightmare was sort of owned by rank enterprises (they also owned the carry on films) on video. when it was released in cinemas here in the uk, new line owned it completely. Rank also released it on dvd. but it was bare-bones. when Entertainment in video finally got the rights to new nightmare. it was re-released on dvd with a whole lot of extras.
That original Nightmare on Elm Street trailer still scares the shit out of me.

That trailer for "The Dream Child" is probably pretty rare now. It wasn't on the DVD release or reigon 2 disc.
