Look closely at 3:24 and you can see his right shoelace is untied. It would later become a point of debate in the propaganda department whether this should be airbrushed out for the sake of perfection or left in as a subtle sign of Yuri's very human, humble nature.
Thank you to everyone !! It was a very beautiful cosmonotics anniversary & the biggest day in the history of celebrating space exploration.!!! I’m thrilled to see how excited people around the world are to celebrate the spirit of exploration and discovery that Yuri Gagarin embodied.
I have seen some of the children books from 1960's and little later.
In them, there was year 2000 and there were COLONIES on moon and huge factory complexes on the earth's orbit.
And I really beleave that if the crazy tempo that had driven the space race in 1950's and 60's endured, there would be human foots on the mars in 1980 and that book would now, in 2011, be the truth.
@HergotH01 It may sounds not so tolerant, but i really think, that collapse of USSR was a huge geo-political disaster, a step back. There are no such great achievements as nuclear energy, space achievements, informatization and so on in last 30 years. US failed greatly as an humanity leader.
@AnimationFunCartoon Hello! Yuri Gagarin was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human being to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961. Best from france
I like it how Gagarin was all cool and relaxed during his space flight ... like how a real hero would feel. He was a real hero. R.I.P Yuri, and thank you for showing us that sky IS NOT the limit ...
More science! It is more than 50 years already and all we have is an orbiting space station, which was technologically avaliable 30 years ago, and aging shuttles, which are also old as this. I want my grandchildren to live in fusion-powered civization that has colony on its moon and advanced probes digging on every moon and planet in solar system. And grandchildren of them to live in society, where wars are waged with goddamn cligons..
@HergotH01 It is quite strange isn't it? It's been 50 years since then, and almost no significant progress. I'm pretty sure that there is something that we definetally don't know about.
@WolfEngelman the reason is will to do something. And since landing on the moon, there is no will.
Look at the first half of 20'th century.
just 50 years.. just imagine it.. you were born in the time when fucking - HORSES - were fucking major transportation instrument, and in just 50 years humans are FLYING TO SPACE.
I am amazed and extremely proud of human race. What it can do. Space program seems to me so premature and still - look what they achieved anyway with only one thing.
humam way of life changes ,we lived in comunism before, today in capitalism and democraty, tomorow who knows what, but events like this are internal for all humanity and we will all remeber it.it was victory for all of us,triumph of science and human courage
@astifan1 , I hate to be picky but internal should have been "eternal". I totally agree with everything you have to say though. Simply an amazing feat of human spirit and engineering mixed with revolutionary technology.
Say f..k communism, say f..k imperialism, say f..k anything you want, but GAGARIN WAS REAL HERO. And, although music is only inspired by russian propaganda songs, its VERY GOOD imitation. Maybe, russian members should share some real tunes.
An admirable rocket but it's obvious the race is between USA and china. Von Braun may have been the USA's miracle but Sergi Korolev is gone too and you only need to look at the N-1, Russia's failed Saturn V equivalent.
@RocketManUSA1 If Sergei Korolev had not died prematurely N1 rocket flew to the moon. In Russia, the heroes often die prematurely. In those days, most likely that this has helped someone.
No way these time you are one German short (Von Braun). Without your space program is miserable (two crashes of Space Shutle), in near future you will be forced to hitch a ride on Soyouz (similar like Gagarin).
you gotta love the background music, it reminds me of men marching into battle to there known doom but are doing it anyway for the pride of the mother land.
@violine777 Ah, but you know what I meant, it's basically the main theme of the film. Anyways, it works extremely well for this.
Yuri Gagarin - the first man to go into space. His flight, which took place April 12, 1961, became a symbol of the might of humanity, and it's never-ending love for discovery. While Gagarin was born in the CCCP (USSR), his achievement brought pride to every person, he showed us what we where capable of... (Written by Katyusha213)... So, how are my writing abilities?
