when i was younger i had a toy rocket with a camera in the noise so it could take aerial photographs, never actually used it because I didn't have money to buy the obscure film it used or get that developed. Make a rocket with a digital camera so you can take aerial pictures.

I'd have a more challenging DIY request : build a 10-500mm f/1.4 zoom lens that is a) not significantly bigger than a prime, b) razor sharp throughout the entire focal length range (and at all apertures, of course), c) fits on EVERY lens mount (Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad,...), d) has image stabilization, no distortion and color fringing and e) costs less than the worn Sigma the pro photographer Kai Mk II used on his 1D! :D
