Just saw the 20-24 episodes and when it got to the Soujiro/Kanata flashback, I could swear I was going to cry.

Another reason I love Lucky Star. It actually reaches out to the audience and touches their hearts, no matter what the situation. At least in my opinion it does.

Aah, how annoying! If it is an anime or a cartoon doesn't have anything to do with plot, light-heartedness or if a show is good or not. Anime is a cartoon, FROM JAPAN. Of course, as most of us know, most animes have more of a solid plot, more rounded characters and prettier art than many western cartoons, but not necessarily. Some western cartoons, like Avatar the last airbender or Teen titans have a good plotline and great characters, but that doesn't make them anime.

All Disney's animated movies can be included, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast,etc. Most of these have solid characters and plotlines to support each other.).

You can't compare shows like Starcom or EXOSQUAD with Macross or Voltron, they have their own strengths and weaknesses. All in all, what I'm trying to say is, I think both are well accepted and both are the same.

Cartoons, in my mind are for animations that are very light hearted, where characters don't really 'die' aka the WB's loony tunes, Sponge bob, etc. However, in anime, there are character deaths, blood/gore, erotic content and various parodies that they won't normally show in American cartoons back in the days. I love both genres. Seriously, I grew up with Thundercats and GI Joe, and both shows are epic in their own way.

Not sure if I should bring this up, Anime is short for Animation, and even thought cartoons are also animated, I think what most people's view on the separate meaning on the two terms, is that for cartoon, its all slapstick and for the most part no continuity, while in Anime, you get a solid plotline. However, some cartoons do have a plot line, aka DC's Justice League/JLUnlimited, TeenTitans, Avatar the last airbender, have continuities and a solid character build.
