Mr Gladwell says that he prefers to do writing based on things that are not already on Google, because he prefers to "stay away" from Google. Let me rephrase it this way: Mr Gladwell is scouring the globe for things that are not yet on Google, so that he can, by writing things things in a digital format, finally close the gap and enter them into it.
