Hyms as beatiful as this should inspire the Roman Catholic Church to return to their ancient gregorian chant roots using the ison and melismata which gives it such a similar feel, as most ancient roman chant was closer to the assyrian chant of today. One can hear by listening to certain southern italian folk music the connection to assyrian folk music, neither one has any german western operatic connection.
