I like the tasteful, artistically rendered expression of Jack Blades' massive ego, well done!!! That'll teach her!!! "Jack Blades! Jack Blades! Jack Blades!......"
oh come on a monkey over jack blades id take jack anytime lol love this song i was named actually after a night ranger song.. sister christian when i met jack in 07 i told him that he loved it
i saw night ranger: in 1989 at the air force academy arnold hall- met brad gillis in the bathroom. i don't think he apprieciated it. i saw them at the colo state fair, in 1987. saw em again at the air force academy falcon stadium, prob. about 2008... outside of the stadium, alongside a chili-fest and a car-show, all at the same time. they sounded great that day.
I am mostly a product of the 90's during the grunge era (during my teenage years when most people acquire their taste in music). But even back then I listened mostly to 80's stuff. They don't make songs like this anymore. Give me Night Ranger, Loverboy, Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, solo Ozzy any day over the shit that passes off as music today (I sound like my parents saying the same thing when i was growing up. LOL).
This song is so amazing, it is waiting to be remade into a megahit again since no one really remembers it. I'll bet some upstart emo kids remake it and it gets in the top 10
It's sad really how Great Bands like this didn't inspire more musicians to carry on in the tradition of excellent music, where bands performed without rapping or humping 14 year old girls on stage. Record Companies SUCK! Bring the Real Rock Back!
I'm 17, been listenin' to this stuff since I was 10. Can't stand any of the new stuff; Just won't stand to listen to it, you hear new stuff on the radio, you just kinda laugh; And think what music was back then, what it is now. Just doesn't even compare, nothing. This IS Music, nothing fake about it; Every instrument was played by a person, their skill, and talent... 80's was where music was dumped off; It will never die though.....
worst song fucking ever.worst band ever. worst people ever. It would probably be safe to say that they fuck eachother in the mouths and sphincters, then finger paint with their poopy hands after they finger bang eachother in front of their uncles. then their uncles probably wack off and ejaculate in night rangers mouths. fucking sick, this music is fucking terrible, damn,
Although NR tasted success, its unfortunate that they never quite broke beyond the threshold of superstardom. Musically and stylistically I would compare them to several other bands that were "BIG" during NR's time. Nevertheless, I really appreciate them more today than I did yesteryear.
I was playing a game with my wife about this song, trying to come up with openings for 80s sitcoms with what song came on. For this song we came up with a single dad with a daughter. The dad goes to night school trying to get his life together while trying to figure out if its time to move on to a new lady or get back with his ex-wife. It prob would have aired from like 84-88. I know I prob would have watched it lol
@caponhead Yeah, I think that showed would have aired for the first half of '84 maybe, than been pulled b/c of abysmal ratings and replaced for the rest of the season with All in the Family re-runs.
"Don't Tell Me You Love Me", "Sister Christian" are more greats from Night Ranger. An amazing band in a decade of great bands and great music. It will never happen like that again. I was only a kid in the 70's so the 80's was the beginning of my adult life, high school and college. It was the best time of my life! The music, the culture, the clothes, the attitude - sooo awesome!!
as a guy who graduated high school in 1986, and WAY into ALL the music back then, I agree w/a lot of the posters who miss the music of this time frame. There were SO many good acts that never hit it HUGE (ex: Madonna/Prince/MJ/U2) but still had some awesome music) like Night Ranger. I proudly have this song on a 45! Long live the music of the 80s!
I have always absolutely loved this song! Night Ranger is such a kick ass band! This was back in the days when great music still existed!! Wow, the memories that come with this song. Such great memories, the best really. Such a great era to grow up in. Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most.I hold the memories in my heart forever. When i close my eyes , I dream of the 80's forever!!
All in all in the 80s live some of the guitar heroes who resurrected a lot of classical melodies in an electric guitar. Melodies that were composed hundreds of years ago by the greatest composers/musicians that ever walked the earth. The likes of JS BACH MOzart etc.
Music today is pretty cool too. You just got to get used to it. I like the modern rocks diffrent tempo. The 80s pretty much have a straight forward tempo. I also like the way they jam the songs today with words so the singer has to sing them fast.
@makokiller2 i feel ya man. can't stand the rap crap. can't understand nuthin they're singing and now a days it's still about hatin' the white man, i.e plies
@makokiller2 Would you be okay in going back to this time frame for music (early 80's) if it meant that you had to have a mullet haircut and drive a El Camino and wear terry cloth shirts and parachute pants?
@makokiller2 The majority of music now n days sucks. There's been practically no good hard rock music in the last 5-7 years at least, other than 2 or 3 bands. That's why I listen to 80's,90's and early 2000's metal/hard rock.
This song is 100% good memories. Too bad they were victims of the 80s power ballad curse. (Extreme, Mr. Big, Queensryche, and too many others to mention)
I got To meet Brad a few months ago and he is a very nice guy. So nice in fact that he even let me play his old Strat the red one and it felt wonderful.
i just saw these guys at teh Riverside County Fair on monday night 2-15-2010. The rocked the joint, i ws at the stage, as old as i am still rocking...
I remember seeing these guys live at the Western Washington Fair... sort of an outdoor concert... they were awesome!!
I remember it just like it was yesterday that this song came on and the crowd (including me... hehe) was singing it so loud that it almost drowned out the band!! lol... and the band wasnt playing mello either ;)
Awe, Night Ranger!! Takes me back to middle school and all the great times I had back then with my friends and my boyfriend. All the innocence, happiness and simpler times! I sure do miss those days. Wish I could go back and relive those days!! When i close my eyes, I dream of those great days for sure!! Thankgod, we still have this great music to listen to today and our memories. I will always hold my memories tight in my heart!! <3 Missing the 80's!! 80's forever!!
Probably my favorite Night Ranger song. The video is stupid but the lyrics are great. The drummer is an awesome singer. Brings back some great memories I had with my first real girlfriend in my AMC GREMLIN. :)
Ive been listening to Night Ranger as long as i can remember. my dad was a Radio DJ for a rock station and he used to play NR for me. they remain to this day one of my favorite bands.
Being a child of the 80's, I have to say they are one of the best. But as I watched this video Will Farrell came to mind, resemblance with the drummer is uncanny.
Always thought the 2 guitarists in this band really kicked ass. Definetely underated. Wow while writing this I saw Hattrick6898 message-that Watson and Gillis were underated. I guess you said it better than me Hattrick6898.
Just saw these guys last night. They opened for REO Speedwagon and STYX. Sound just as good. This was my fave by them, made me tear up a bit when they did it. God I miss being young!!
i always thought of night ranger as being all american with out toting the all american thing....there are some gilrs in my past that i wonder if they still dream of me..i always liked nightranger as a kid..im 36 now..i liked them from dont tell me you love me on
you mean like "blinded by the light...wrapped up like a Douche? or is it deuce...why is it wrong to look back on ones past and think of what sort of impact you have made? Why does this require (Douche from you?) that is what the song is about...looking back over ones past...just as i wonder how people recall me i recall the ones ive loved in my life...the song is a bout being sentimental..and has nothing to do with feminine products such as (Douche)
I was blessed, my mom used classic rock as my lullby. It is great now that I'm 27, and I'm able to jam with my mom to these songs, thats probably why we are so close.
awesome memories!!!!!!!!!!

Being a child of the 80's, I have to say they are one of the best. But as I watched this video Will Farrell came to mind, resemblance with the drummer is uncanny.

You are right about the resemblance to Will. Look at Alan Parsons on youtube. Reminds me of Will doing More Cowbell on SNL.

totally. if you watch the live performance from 2001 its even more uncanny.

Your father has good taste. Keep listening to his tunes, and I'm sure you will have a solid music foundation for the rest of your life.:D

That was the most mercurial performamnce ever in the beginning. The poor Dandy must have had a hot flash. LOL

Douche?
you mean like "blinded by the light...wrapped up like a Douche? or is it deuce...why is it wrong to look back on ones past and think of what sort of impact you have made? Why does this require (Douche from you?) that is what the song is about...looking back over ones past...just as i wonder how people recall me i recall the ones ive loved in my life...the song is a bout being sentimental..and has nothing to do with feminine products such as (Douche)
reguards..

I was blessed, my mom used classic rock as my lullby. It is great now that I'm 27, and I'm able to jam with my mom to these songs, thats probably why we are so close.
