  • hey i love your jam you know dreamed it last nite:)

But i am asking one thing how did you to load loops and other thing?

  • damn that glitchy video was annoying

  • This is an awesome track. I can imagine it playing in some clothing store, like h&m or Zara.

  • Sounds like you sampled Chubby Chunks, Testament One (who sampled Al Hudson)...

  • @dirtyoscs that is exactly what I did, half of this set is based on some famous samples just like I wrote in the extended video description

  • luv this, I hate using computers, got an s950 wired up to a an sp1200, is most of the filtering done on the mutator in the vid? i need to get a new mixer soon, what do you think of digital mixers ? can you get them with multiple internal effects on each channel?

  • thx everybody for your kind words and happy new year :D

  • I love this video so fuckin much, my mate has an octotrack and I love it, what a mint maschine but more importantly what a mint video! One of the best on You Tube!

  • that was groovy.... nice studio layout

  • Wow. that's amazing, and analog! Crazy.. haven't heard or seen a live pa that well done in years.. or, well ever!

  • All I see is "An error occurred. Please try again later." :(

  • First of all, this is absolutely amazing, and if I had any say, you'd be touring globes. Second, the API 2500 sounds BEAST (even on yt, haha). Advice on two pieces of gear: Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ and Art Pro VLA II (not going to have the money for an API). I was also wondering if I should go all out and get the Machinedrum and the Octatrack. If it helps: I will only be making house, very similar to your style (just 90's grit, ha).

  • @MinamotoAkori hey thx for the kind words :) I have no experience with the art pro VLA 2 but it is supposed to be a great buy for the price, regarding the machinedrum, it is definitely a great piece of gear, I use to think about buying one but I ended buying a 2nd octatrack instead as I already had my drum machine bases covered and I wanted to have a super live set up (2 OT + xone62)

  • BiG BIG BIG respect for not having a computer screen in front of you but thousands of tiny lcd screens:) .. and that you used automation.. with your fingers.. you make me feel i'm not alone;)

  • @MaartenHaase thx, that's the spirit, that's how I like it to be done ;)

  • Nice!

  • I keep checking out this machine but just cant make up my mind about it. There is no real good demo of the machines functions anywhere so its really hard for me to tell if this thing can do any more than my MPC. I also have touchable for ableton which I use once I have recorded parts from my outboad gear. I can do all this stuff with that. Again, Im not so sure I could find a great use for the OT. I may just be buying something that forces me to change how I work but get the same result.

  • @harrymerchant456 i just bought it and will soon be making vids. It is awesome. This machine is so powerful that many people are still trying to learn it. Make no mistake that this is a great remix tool or live instrument. I make House, DnB, Dubstep and Dub reggae and this is great as the main sequencer. Mind you I have a fantom, a vsynth, korg radias, and dr880. I don't use other people's samples. I know once the hiphop kids get into this unit it's a wrap for the akai sampler heads.

  • @IanCanefire

Yes but my point is still the same. Will the Octo bring something to table. It does in the sense of the hands on angle which of course is always the best. I am considering one but I would really need to try it out for at least a week. But theres no stores in my city so theres no possibility of ever being able to do this.

  • @harrymerchant456 if you have a good system and are making money, or having fun...then of course you don't need it. Don't waste money and more importantly time (due to the inevitable learning curve). The main reason I bought it was because of the parameter locks that you can place on different places in a sample. This makes it easy to add variation to drums on the fly. I now make DnB much faster. Plus it gives it a live feel. If you are so unsure then listen to your gut and don't buy it.

  • @IanCanefire

when I do that sort of live off the cuff arrangements I record clips in to Live from my hardware then control it from Touchable or Live Control apps for the ipad. But, I dont particularly like it. I feel detached hitting a plastic screen and you have to be very careful in case you hit the wrong parameter. Touchable is much to cluttered and its getting worse.

You said it gives you a live feel. I would translate that as the machine feels like an instrument. Thats what interests me

  • nice stuff bro, swingin' that shizz

  • you can see your new VCA at work lol

  • I know you used a lot of other stuff, but the u make the octatrack seem brilliant

  • maaaaad talent

  • awesome o,0' great work !!!!!!!

  • Pretty Freakin Cool!

  • sounds like plastic with no creativity

sorry, but this is so .-.-. lame and boring

    Daft Punk for nonos

  • nailed. Congrats. go global Now you just have to play like a bastard and keep moving. Don't stay in any town over 3 months (advice I got but didn't take from jeff b. before the river). Tokyo/la/nyc/chicago/paris/berlin/london/burnin/shambala/ibiza/etc

  • This is amazing. great work with the octatrack.

  • 5:00 and onwards, you've got this machine nailed, man. I listen to that part at least once a day. You rock.

  • @Wiktorion thx :p

  • This is amazing. You're amazing. The video and music is amazing. Amazing.

  • Every demo of the Octatrack has this awful 'chopped' quality to it. There's other gear and software that promotes this way of working but the Octatrack really goes OTT. Discrete stop-start noises, no flow, no sense of instruments gelling and playing together. This is the gear defining the music and it shouldn't be that way. Use those fantastic drum machines for percussion and find another use for the bloody Octatrack (if there is one).

  • @DRRDDR I've no idea what you are talking about, but music on the OT don't have to be chopped, you can use one shot samples or unchopped loops and i guess it is not the timestretch you are hearing as every loops in this set where recorded at the same bpm they are played.

The OT is not defining the music i did most of the composition work without it and only use it as a way to play and remix what i did with my whole studio. I don't use the OT for percussion, I use it here like i could use ableton

  • @kidysputpikii the last 4-5 mins is a pretty good example of what I'm talking about. When you have lots of sounds or even whole arrangements chopped like that it sounds like a car stereo on a bumpy road. The OT (and other similar gear) seem to encourage users to produce music in this way, not quantised notes in the typical sequencer sense but whole chunks of sound with brick wall attack and decay. It reminds me of when my young kids hit the buttons on some of their toys.

  • @DRRDDR lol that's the part i love best :)

  • @kidysputpikii I noticed :) of course I'm just being an old fart but when I listen to this style of the last few years I just see the LED blinking along but not just for percussion, now it's like a conveyer belt of micro-tracks.

  • @DRRDDR gear isnt stuck working this way.. some people just cut their samlpes harshly

  • @DRRDDR dont be hatin brah

  • @kidysputpikii It seems like it would be a great stand in for ableton. And the timing would be much better than depending on the computer. I don't mind performing with a computer and others but it would be nice to not have one at all.

  • Hey, what's the rack above that deadly good 2500 ? thanks

    Enjoyed this live so much!!

  • @digitalcp01 it is an overstayer vca compressor, I usually use it on the master bus

  • PHAT tune !!! : )

  • VF-1 VS Mutator. Your thoughts?

  • @DJillogick mutator filtering sounds better and has more parameters but it only does Low pass filtering.

Vf1 is easier to use live as only one set of knob control both channels, it has a cool valve overdrive and it can do all kind of filtering hp, bp, lp or any combination of these

  • @kidysputpikii THANKS! not too mention the price differences lol. I also wasn't aware that the mutator only did LP. Cool. Now if I could just find one...at a decent price that is.

  • I have a compounder myself...have any vids showing off that beauty?

  • Sampling music that's been sampled, but aye... Everyone's doing it ! Nice dude ! Love it anyways...who'd have thought skateboarders and house music could go together so well.... Lil bit on the epileptic side with that stuttering of the clips

  • @NickAAylward sampling music that has been sampled is like remixing, while a DJ can spin a famous house track in his set, I try to build some "new" tracks around those already heard samples even though most of the music in this set is made with samples that , I believe, have never been used before

  • dope!

  • Nice collection of equipment. And great track !!

  • If one day i'll get famous, i'll produce you for sure! ;)

On attend aussi le prochain clip!

  • fantastic

  • So better compression

  • once again I ask, why aren't you famous?

  • @daftendirekt97 that's because you don't spam your friend enough with my music (:

  • @kidysputpikii

Sounding like Daft Punk in the begginings, I dig it but it's been done to perfection by them and followers. Don't get me wrong I like the tune except for the excess of on that girl shout loop.

If I could do this I'd be estatic. You got talent mate but you could put more of you into it.

  • this is so awesome.

  • yieha !
