  • What is this tune called?

  • HA HA! Very funny a t the end!

  • what is that pattern at the end of the roll for?

  • The pattern you see at the end is a warning tune to let you know that the roll is at its end and if you keep playing will start to tear. But as its an electric player , it will sense the holes at each end and will automatically reroll.

  • Was Maple Leaf Rag ever done as a Duo-Art roll?

  • What is that song. Ive only heard it a million times. does anyone know?

  • Maple Leaf Rag (1899).

  • You want to sell this piano?

  • Very nice video and usefull as demo in a museum. You have done very good job !!

Be careful with the spool left tracking, the paperedges are rolling over

  • Nicely done!

  • Scott Joplin - Maple Leaf Rag

    Very nice tune xD

  • Superb editing! Thoughtfully conceived and with a touch of humor. Very nice, indeed.

  • Thank you very much!

  • It's at the wrong speed - but good insturment - love the beginning - good opening.

  • Nice Piano. You seem to be a good filmmaker. It's cool how you can show almost every nook and cranny of the piano.

  • The pump in these pianola's are called steamboat pumps and have 6 lobes (sorta like a V6 motor). The pump you see in the clip is the correct pump and set up.Latter on they did go to a smaller 4 lobe set up.I have a player identical to this one and Duo-art rolls (especially classical music) play just beautifully.I dont have a video camera to make a clip but will see if i can get a friend to do the clip for me so i can post on here.

  • Isn't the pump turning really fast? I don't know for sure because I never really saw one, only rotarypumps, but seems to me its pretty fast.

Would love to see a Duo-Art roll played on this piano to hear how the expression unit does....

  • Yes. The pump probably is turning too fast. The motor is not one designed for the piano, but a substitute replacement. I believe that the air pressure is high - the piano plays with excessive force and volume. I, however, have insufficient knowledge on this.

  • MaxoRelaxo; The player piano works on vacuum, not pressure.

  • This is a great clip showing the wonders of music of yesteryear. These sort of players in good condition go for top prices now.I have just a normal pumper player but will like to add a reproducing one to my collection.

  • Looks like a Steinway Duo-Art haunts this piano! Nice shots of the player action, though that sped-up camera trickery at the end was pretty whacked out... I really must say that the Steamboat pump is even quieter than I expected it to be... a testament to fine design! redraven13, if you want a player piano, Duo-Art or otherwise, you would do best to check Ebay and the Mechanical Music Exchange, which always have player pianos for sale, sometimes for the hauling away!

  • i want one
