I know what she is talking about. The same happened to me last christmas holidays. But it was even worst. I told my parents to buy a Toshiba, because they thought the mac was expensive. So we took pictures for Christmas and then they wanted to make an E postcard and send it to relatives. Try to do it with a brand new win 7 with no installed softwares. You will see.... At the end i did everything from my macbook in 30 minutes.
@NikoisBack Why didn't you tell them about google Picasa? It's free and easy for n00bs to use. I think you might even be able to do it through the web without installing it, just uploading the photos (yep, it's flickers web based photo editor called picknic). Good thing your parents didn't buy a mac they dodged a bullet there. Pity their child is a n00b though...
@GarabatoxTut Ummmm can you even install a new GPU on a Mac? Without taking it back to the Mac store. If I needed any new part for my PC I just go out buy it and what do you know it comes with a driver disc. You can't even install OSX on custom built computers because Mac won't support it, unless they build it for you and charge you $2000 more than the hardware is worth.

Microsoft just sells you software that is compatible with virtually all hardware. Apple sells you overpriced hardware from manufacturers who sell the same goods for 1/4 of the same price.
@daymyth If your hackintosh does not work well is because you dont know anything about hardware :). I have built very powerful machines with hackintosh and every single piece of hadware has been compatible with OS X.

Doesn't the capacity to partition that space compensate sufficiently for that? Idk I'ver personally never had to care about that.
@GarabatoxTut I will admit to having stopped using Macs since high school when our mac was constantly freezing up and frustrating the hell out of me. So much that I never went back. And at presentations at uni it's always the mac's that have problems. Where as with Windows, personally I have very few problems. And if I ever did I've always googled an easy fix. The system just never locked up on me forcing a restart (unlike OSX)

Yea great design, unless you wanted to right click or use a scroll wheel. How long did it take them to put those design features into their mice? Logitech make better mice and keyboards, Antec make better cases. I personally prefer Samsung/Viewsonic monitors and I use Audio Technica Headphones for comfort.

The same happened with Windows. When they launched Vista they did put a file search in the start menu. It was the same design that apple installed in OS X tiger, so they just named differently.

Why I would use Blu-Ray? Because if there's a movie I really like, I'd like to be able to have a permanent, durable copy to enjoy whenever I want.
You can't count on an on-demand service to keep something up indefinitely because they won't. And copyrighted movie downloads may have DRM and lack FAIR USE RIGHTS.

And I'm a Mac user (as well as Windows and Linux). But, for watching movies and TV shows, I still rely on a TV and a digital surround sound system.

Windows XP, Vista, and 7 will also automatically download all the pictures. Because it directly reads it off the memory card. Older version of Windows like 98 or 95, doesn't do that like the Mac OS9. PCs = Macs so It's just computers so stop bragging.

Well, no-one can believe that Mac's have wide hardware detection, that's bullshit! Starting from Windows Vista and later, they got the best hardware detection ever! And if, for some reason, the OS can't find the driver, then you install the EXE driver in less than 5 minutes, and viola, it's all working perfect!
Windows 7 automatically retrieves the latest versions of drivers...but if it takes you an entire afternoon to download a camera driver, you should be slapped.

I just bought a new camera. I just plugged in the usb, and got all of my pictures on my PC without even taking out the SD memory card. I didn't even bother installing the camera's included software. Maybe her dad had a really old computer running Windows 95 or something. Maybe her dad is just a little stupid.
I've been lucky with XP. My big problem was in trying to install the Nero 9 software. OMG! What a headache! I have since learned that if I was running Vista, it would have installed nicely. The @&%$ thing took almost two hours to install on XP!
This always happened to me. Devices would never work with Windows, but than I bought an iMac and everything worked. My camera, , my usb headset, my hard drive. Windows is shit.
Yea but Mac is also bad(on a kid's senior project, which is the deciding factor if they walk or not) their macbook froze in the middle of the powerpoint. Poor kid had to do the rest without any visual aid. Still passed, but it was pretty embarrassing. Plus the majority of business and home owners are on Windows. Hahaha, drivers are installed from the actual device 95% of the time....meaning if you can't plug in play with windows, you wouldn't be able to on a Mac either. Plus, digital camera usual means an SD card, since when....do you...not....I don't understand this story.

??? Are you joking? I have never had to use a disk of any kind for any digital camera I have ever owned with Windows. Any major brand you just plug in. Like I said a folder comes up on the desktop and you drag/drop files. It's really easy.
Her dad sounds like a fucking idiot. Anyone with half a brain can plug a USB cable into a USB port. On a PC it just automatically pops up as a external hard drive like you C: drive. Then open the folder and drag and drop onto the desktop. Easy shit. No drivers it just works on a PC.
That's exactly what I said in my post! I didn't even have to take out the memory card. I just plugged in the USB cord, and it came up like an external drive. My camera even came with software I never installed. I actually threw the disk away with the package.

Driver for Windows sucks. It's what have said nVidia, ATi, Creative, and a lot of others companies. 80% of the Windows Crashes is because Windows sucks in handling drivers.
Interesting...I can connect my camera to my computer using the USB cord it came with and have no trouble. Maybe some of these people are just incompetent.
I have yet to see a device that My Vista computer could not run automatically. The only devices I have found, the Mac also can't run automatically and in most cases, at all. Cause here's the thing, Mac get's so confident that they have all the drivers, that if there is one that they don't have it's impossible to then find that driver. With my Vista I have not found one thing I could not run, and almost all things can be run automatically.
How old is a computer that makes and 8-bit sound? I am willing to bet a lot older that a Mac Powerbook. Plus if people ever read the box, it would tell you if it was Windows Certified. Who in the world has to go online for hours to download drivers, the camera is new, it has driver with it.

Isn't it peculiar that the only people who use Macintosh computers know nothing about them? Every issue brought up in the switch ad campaign is false. The only benefits of Macintosh comps over windows based machines is the virus immunity (which is easily fixed with free virus protection software off the internet.) And a more stable work envrinment, which is remedied by the user knowing enough not to run 7 games at once.
Not only that, but in the 2007 coomputer security convetion, the world leader on security testing and detection, said that Mac is immature compared to Vista when it comes to security, Vista jsut knows how to use the benefits of the hardware, such as randomization in the RAM to make it nearly impossible to exploit, somethign Mac can't catch on to. So now Mac has nothing on Vista.

Windows XP, Vista, and 7 will also automatically download all the pictures. Because it directly reads it off the memory card. Older version of Windows like 98 or 95, doesn't do that like the Mac OS9. PCs = Macs so It's just computers so stop bragging.

I just bought a new camera. I just plugged in the usb, and got all of my pictures on my PC without even taking out the SD memory card. I didn't even bother installing the camera's included software. Maybe her dad had a really old computer running Windows 95 or something. Maybe her dad is just a little stupid.

I've been lucky with XP. My big problem was in trying to install the Nero 9 software. OMG! What a headache! I have since learned that if I was running Vista, it would have installed nicely. The @&%$ thing took almost two hours to install on XP!

Yea but Mac is also bad(on a kid's senior project, which is the deciding factor if they walk or not) their macbook froze in the middle of the powerpoint. Poor kid had to do the rest without any visual aid. Still passed, but it was pretty embarrassing. Plus the majority of business and home owners are on Windows. The majority of Mac users are HS to college with few adults. Anywho I always notice that these mac commercials the person is always moving their hands, I find it funny.

Hahaha, drivers are installed from the actual device 95% of the time....meaning if you can't plug in play with windows, you wouldn't be able to on a Mac either. Plus, digital camera usual means an SD card, since when....do you...not....I don't understand this story.
Apart from being over priced and designed for the computer illiterate, however, macs are are ok.

That's exactly what I said in my post! I didn't even have to take out the memory card. I just plugged in the USB cord, and it came up like an external drive. My camera even came with software I never installed. I actually threw the disk away with the package.
I'll bet he had a very old machine running Windows 95. It's time Dad got a new computer!

I have yet to see a device that My Vista computer could not run automatically. The only devices I have found, the Mac also can't run automatically and in most cases, at all. Cause here's the thing, Mac get's so confident that they have all the drivers, that if there is one that they don't have it's impossible to then find that driver. With my Vista I have not found one thing I could not run, and almost all things can be run automatically.

Isn't it peculiar that the only people who use Macintosh computers know nothing about them? Every issue brought up in the switch ad campaign is false. The only benefits of Macintosh comps over windows based machines is the virus immunity (which is easily fixed with free virus protection software off the internet.) And a more stable work envrinment, which is remedied by the user knowing enough not to run 7 games at once.

Not only that, but in the 2007 coomputer security convetion, the world leader on security testing and detection, said that Mac is immature compared to Vista when it comes to security, Vista jsut knows how to use the benefits of the hardware, such as randomization in the RAM to make it nearly impossible to exploit, somethign Mac can't catch on to. So now Mac has nothing on Vista.
